The Avana hotel is ideally located on the way from the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport to the city center. Therefore it benefits a very easy access to shopping facilities as well as Bitec exhibition cenetr as well as a number of golfcourses on the Eastern areas of town.
Distant of about an hour from both Pattaya or Chonburi, the Avana hotel is ideal place to rest before an early flight out of town or following a late arrival.
The easy access to the expressways in any directions make it a very popular suburb hotel, especially for business travellers who are busy in the various industrial estates surrounding Bangkok, yet want to be in easy reach to the city center

Stayed here for 2 nights, unfortunately we picked the wrong place to live in Bangkok. This is totally NOT an area for tourists, this hotel is primarily used for hosting conferences. The room (deluxe) was not very impressive, old & wore down, although it was clean and proper.

The bed was hard The room needed updating No hot water when we checked in for shower the mini bar beer in the fridge was out of date.I informed reception the morning after about the beer and it still was not changed after returning to the room to retire for the night. I would not stay at this hotel again

This was the second time I have used the Avana Hotel. My wife and I chose the hotel for its close proximity to her cousin's apartment in Bang Na. The first time, I tried booking it online but it did not work. I had to book it through the hotel and they stuck me with a Dynamic Currency Conversion (or DCC). Even though I told them 4 times I wanted the room charged in Thai Baht (and they assured me it was), it wasn t! I paid an extra 4% on top of what my Credit Union charged on my Card. I also asked for a manager and they wouldn't call him/her to front desk. Even though they were friendly, they would not work with us (my wife is Thai; no language barrier here). Thanks Avana (NOT)! The second time (yes, we gave Avana a second chance), I booked the hotel with SiameServices.com and was charged in Thai Baht, removing any problems that the Avana could cause with a DCC. They informed us that the WiFi (which was free the first time) was extra this time. We paid since I needed to be in contact with my business in the United States. The hotel is 25-30 minutes to and from the airport as well as 20-30 minutes driving to Central Mall (but only 5 minutes back). The breakfast buffet was not very good, in fact, very bland. The room was clean, yet unspectacular (you get what you pay for). Would I go back, not sure. I would definitely look at other options in area before choosing this hotel again.

We stayed in the hotel for 1 night between flight from UK to Chiang Mai. There were 3 couples in our group and we were all delighted with the friendly service, the good size and cleanliness of the rooms and in particular the excellent food served in the restaurant. Very good value too.It was slightly further from the airport then we were led to believe from the brochure but was an easy journey and not as far as going right into Bangkok. The taxi service was also very good. The hotel had all we needed, with a shop, a coffee and lovely swimming pool. Staff excellent. A very nice welcome to Thailand.

You get what you pay for. It Just makes it as an over night hotel it is very worn halls are pretty dark and dingey and the carpet in our room was pretty sticky?? beds were Ok bu must admit to checking sheets etc to see if clean - They were however I have not had the urge to do this before. It is about a 30- 40 minute drive from Airport to hotel. To get to the central shopping centre it is definately a drive. Would I go back - probably not as it was not as close to the airport as I would have liked.

We had deluxe room with small balcony on the 18th floor with spectacular view at night onto the city. Hotel located just 25 minutes from the new airport, meter taxi around 300 bat. Room was spacious, well air conditioned with complimentary snacks and water. Bathroom equiped in shampoo, shower gel, tooth paste and tooth brush. we had a lovely meal in the restaurant with a view on the swimming pool that looked beatuiful all lighten up at night. Breakfats in the morning was buffet type, opened from 6.30 so if you have flight at around this time you may want to speak to room service and arrange a packed meal with them maybe. I choose the room as it was a last night of our stay in Bangkok and it was very handy for our morning flight.

We found it to be a nice hotel. The breakfast was something we never seen before!! It was more like luch buffé. The staff was nice and helpful, we have never before had our glases of beer being filled when they were almost emtpy,and then the waiter went backwards to his position,thereby never turning his back to us!!! We would say that this more or less a stopover hotel, due to fact that the neighbourhood is not all that great and it is a long way a way from the city center.

My stay at the Avana was wonderful. For the price, it was a top hotel...the rooms were very comfortable, clean, and the view from the room overlooking Bangkok was great. Good Price, nice room, nice view (25 story building), rooms (even have bathtub and shower), nice friendly helpful people in all departments, good selection of English TV channels -there also were Korean, Japanese and German, Fantastic Breakfast bufffet (had to have been 100 selections). The Thai oil Massage for 300 Baht was real value for money. The one bad thing it's a long way from the airport and or skytrain station, 7 o clock in the afternoon it took 45 minutes, to get from the airport and even at 3 a.m. still took 25 minutes to get back to the airport. It also is a full 20 minutes to the closest Skytrain Station.

I have been staying at the Avana since it was known as the Highway Inn and the price per night was 500 baht. While the relocation of the airport can partly explain its price hike, their renovations over the years have only affected common areas (pool, lobby, etc.); a lot more needs to be done inside the guest rooms before they can claim to have truly upgraded the place (not to mention increasing the number of elevators - waits are often annoyingly long). I really only stay here due to proximity to airport and relatives living in Bang Na. There are similarly priced hotels in Silom and other conveniently located parts of the city that I would certainly recommend over the Avana. That said, this is a decent hotel, with a nice pool area, very friendly and helpful staff and conveniently located near the airport.

Just three little words, NO, DONT, BAD EXPERIENCE well that was four little words. Hotel is not easy to get to, a mosquito haven, lots of stray cats, service is really bad, staff very unhelful, no towels, staff agreed to a rate one day and upped price next day. A bad experience all round.

We had a room on the 17th floor which had a great panoramic view over Bangkok. Airco a bit noisy. Rooms are clean. The balcony is not safe for children and drunk people, it has a quite a low fence. Location not far from the new airport, for shopping you need to take a taxi, no shops in in walking distance. It's a suitable location for one of the last days of your holiday.

We booked the standard room for 1.100 baht which was fine for the price. Nothing special and the hotel is really far from everything but really acceptable for what we paid for. We checked out early therefore cannot comment on the breakfast. The restaurant was nice and cheap, very friendly people that spoke English well. Not so the front desk - some of the people did not understand at all what we wanted from them. It took us 1 hour from the old airport to the hotel but the fare was reasonable - 450 baht fixed price from the airport. The new airport was only 20 min. at 05:00 in the morning with the hotel shuttle (150 baht/person). Taxi could have been cheaper but maybe less reliable. Nothing much to do in the area, the hotel is way off; but food in the hotel was good and we needed to stay only for a night to go back home the next morning. Minimart and Coffee shop on site was a plus, there is a pool as well, even massage for a good price. All in all we were satisfied for the money we spend.

Overall we were very disappointed with the service that we received. Our room was not set up with the Cot as we had requested upon arrival, and took a very long time to be delivered to our room. Also, our booking was supposed to include breakfasts, but upon arrival, they said that it did not and made us pay a lot extra for this. Unfortunately I did not have a print out of the email with we at the time to prove this. I have subsequently looked it up my email correspondance, and the booking clearly was supposed to include breakfasts.

As with many hotels in Thailand, the lobby area is very impressive, but the guest rooms lack physical appeal. This hotel is in definite need of a make over. I only stayed one night for my return flight the next morning to the United States. It had all the amenities for a great last night in Bangkok. Laundry facilities would have been nice, so that I could take home clean clothes. The hotel has a beauty salon and even a mini mart. The bathroom in my room didn't look too bad, until I went to take a shower. There was so much mildew on the tile, I chose to take a sink bath instead. The hallways are very dark, which did not give a secure feeling. It is about a 30 minute drive from the new Bangkok airport. I chose to hire a taxi driver for 300 THB, very reasonable. Although the hotel is not close to anything, the Front Desk personnel are more than happy to arrange taxi service for you at a reasonable fare. Other hotels in the area are very expensive. For just one night this was a good value.

The hotel is not that close to the airport, around 20-30 mins by car (with NO traffic). Rooms ok for the price, aircon a bit noisy, breakfast ok. Had a problem with the pick up service that I booked in advance - the driver didn't show up at the airport and made me wait for almost 20 minutes. After looking for him around the airport I eventually called the hotel and he came. Then he got lost on the way and at one point we were even going with reverse gear on the highway. That meant another delay of 15-20 minutes... It was past midnight, so I obviously got quite upset with all that.

Yes- the hotel rooms are a bit shabby, but its a deal when you consider some of the guesthouses in town. The pool is really lovely, there's a fitness room (air-con) with tread mills if you like to run. The restaurant is decent (plus big free breakfast buffet) and you can even get massages. Unfortunately my massage experience wasn't great- the masseueses chatted non stop and I had to ask 3-4 times to get what I wanted, but I m a massage snob. For a stopover hotel relatively close to the airport- definately recommended. I m sure its cheaper than hotels in town, but not sure how cenral it would be if you are vacationing in Bangkok???

Avana Hotel seems not to be as near to the new Airport as we thought - even on a sunday afternoon without traffic we took 30 min. to get there. Hotel in the middle of nowhere.... We booked Avana only for stop-over to get to the airport very early the next morning, but in fact we would accept even a longer taxi-drive just to have more nightlife and restaurants nearby. Hotel and facilities quite tired, but clean. Nice pool and pool restaurant.

I booked this property through SiameServices.com for late arrval on the 9th. (check in on the 10th.am) with confirmation for late check out...I also pre paid this reservation in full. When I arrived at the hotel . they said I should have booked for the 10th. with early check in and insisted I pay for an additional night. The supervisor on duty did not have the authority to allow me to check-in...had to wait for the hotel mgr. to arrive. It took 2 hrs and a call to SiameServices to sort this out. The hotel was not sure if SiameServices would be paying them. I find it amazing that a hotel would do business with an online agency and still question if they would get paid. The whole experience was very frustrating especially having travelled from the South of India on an overnight flight. Not a good experience for me. I checked in at 0900 and checked out at 1930 the same day...did not even explore the hotel so have no commentt other than the front desk needs training in customer service and enpowerment to make a decision..

I stayed at the Avana 3 times between the end of December and the beginning of January and all 3 times it was perfect as a quick overnight stop before heading back to the airport the next day. The staff are friendly and the rooms comfortable and clean (although the hot water isn't always very hot). All three mornings I left before 4am, so I was unable to benefit from the free breakfast but was given a free drink and cake voucher for the coffee shop to make up for it. Both check in and check out were quick and painless. I will definitely stay here again should I find myself with an overnight connection at the new Bangkok airport.
