Terrible & Evil Hotel Greeters. First day(03-OCT-2010) before we checked in, the Hotel Greeter on duty helped the bad taxi driver, who overchaged us by refusing to use meter, to escape, other than call police as we required. Third day (05-OCT-201), another Hotel Greeter on duty offered a fairly high price for taxi driver. Though we refused and insisted on using meter, the taxi driver detoured and still overcharged us. Bad experience. There may be dirty deal between hotel greeter and taxi driver. Though evil driver is not a member of the hotel, the Greeter is! there exists weak supervison on these greeters.

I don't know why the hotel greeter(morining on 05-OCT-2010) actively offered a quitely high price for the taxi driver. He is on the side of bad taxi driver who cheated us later. It is farily probable that the greeter and bad drivers have got dirty deals. So, watch out when asking the hotel to call taxi for you.

We enjoyed the good and very friendly service at the hotel. The effort for the accomondation rate is okay, the rooms were clean and furnished in a way we expect for a middle class hotel. The Hotel is located near the Khaosan Road, about 5 minutes to go, or you can choose the free tuctuc service from the hotel. We selected the hotel twice and were satisfied with this decision.

Shame SiameServices.com and Hotel de Moc for half ruining our last couple of days in Thailand. I received and email that our reservation was confirmed with the hotel but when we arrived they claimed they had nothing for us. One reception staff member virtually blamed us for the lack of a reservation, telling my wife we should have booked earlier! After printing the email as proof that we had booked and indeed paid in advance we were given a back room that was not fit for anyone. The noise of the hotel central air-con unit was unbearable and prevented any chance of a good nights sleep. Main point is it was NOT the room we had paid for ( including no views or balcony as we should have had). Next morning I had to complain to get a move to another room but it meant we had to move our luggage down to reception and be out of a room until late afternoon before another was ready for us. This is very poor treatment of paid customers. The 2nd night was peaceful in a good room but we paid for 2 nights of that and only got one. Never again. Mistakes can't be helped it's how you treat customers after that counts. Hotel de Moc failed. SiameServices.com actually phoned reception while I was there and the staff member asked if I would answer the phone. I was eager to speak to them but they declined to spead to me.

A pretty good middle class hotell. The staff was nice, but a little bit eager to get money. For instande they charged me 15 bath/page when I used the printer. The pool area is quite good, apart from that it´s situated in front of the hotell along a street. Just a thin bamboo fence separating the pool from Bangkoks traffic = noicy. The room had a vague smell of mowl. I payed 1400 bath a night, thats what its worth - no more.

If you want to stay an other night the best you can do is booking by internet because otherwise the price is more as double.

The most important thing - there is no hot water in hotel. The old pipe system does not work properly. The only solution preposed by hotel stuff in order to take a shower was to heat the water in the tea pot. The Hotel is situated above the highway and in the rooms is very noisy. In the hotels restorant, in the evening instead of live music we enjoyed the tunning of the piano. The main positive - there is free tuk-tuk to Khoasun Rd.

Hotel is OK, good value for money. Rooms were recently renovated. There´s sometimes a nasty smell however in the rooms from the a/c. Breakfast ok, but not as great as I read from other reviews. Free tuk tuk service is a nice add.

Hotel suited us as we wanted to be near Kohsan Road but out of the hustle and bustle. Was only an easy 10 minutes walk. The hotel rooms were a bit dated but clean. Breakfast had a good asortment of food. and the pool was a godsend after walking all day. I felt it was good value for our dollar

We were plesantly surprised to sweep up in a taxi to this excellent 3 star hotel.With the riots on the streets and Songkran just starting it is as well not to get soaked or bombed before getting into this welcoming hotel.The hotel has an English General Manager,Mr Williams who is bringing everything up to European standards.Floors 6 and 5, where we had an excellent room have all been updated.Front line staff all speak good English and are very helpful.Good breakfast for all tastes and good Thai/Chinese/English evening menue obviously at Hotel prices.A swimming pool in this price range was most welcome.We can only speak for our experience and would thoughly recomend this hotel and booking service.

Tired..that's about the truth of this hotel. Not badly located if you want to go to Kaosan road area, but the hotel really does need a make over. First 3 days, toilets did not work proerly, only half flush, no such thing as hot water, air con grill fell out of ceiling and had to be repaired, doormen who don't know how to open a door, same breakfast every day of 8 days staying there, no variety. Very noisy road next to hotel and if you get a room that end, Bangkok traffic realy gets going at aroung 5am so you will be up early. Tipping expected in a country where it is not usual. Found the best resaurant about 100 yards from the hotel. Fantastic Thai/Chinese food on road intersection. Very cheap and yummy. Overall, doubt if I would stay there again

Lovely greeting and assistance from the doorman and cold juice on arrival. Counter staff not quite so friendly, but no problem. Rooms could do with a freshen up but very clean and made up each day, tea and coffee in room. Definitely good value for money with inclusive buffet breakfast that varied each day. Good location within walking distance of Khao San Rd, but free tuk tuk provided. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel met our needs and really fit our budget. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were clean, quiet and we enjoyed the somewhat secluded pool considering it was a noisy street beyond. We loved the Tuktuk service to Khosan Road.THe morning breakfast had some variety...however the ant/coffee/toast station in the restaurant was a little unnerving.Hey if there are ants in one corner...find another to serve coffee and toast! We didn't let that put us off...and would consider staying at the de Moc again...due to the various other strong features we liked about the hotel.

Good value for the money! Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast better than expected and much to chose from (both thai and continental). Location great for us. Quite close to Kaoshan rd and Chao Pray river, but still calm surroundings. The clean and deep pool was a hit! The children loved it and it was nice to plunge in after a day on town. The room was quite big and clean, but the view was a bit boring (on the side looking into an empty building). When we returned for 2 days at the beginning of July we had a frontside room with a nice view. I can recommend this hotel and would stay here again!

There were hundreds of places available in Bangkok to stay but i definately made the right decision to stay here. The 2 greatest things about the place were the staff, adsolutely fantastic - always smiling and helpful - and the breakfast. I didn't know i could eat that much so early. The hotel is willing to take you by tuk tuk to koh san road for your day travels which is really helpful as the hotel is a little further out but not too much - it only took me 15 minutes to walk from koh san. After a plane trip it was a great way to spend the first couple of days. I will defiantely be back. Thankyou to all the staff

Hotel de Moc is exactly as they described it: A wonderful 3 star budget hotel. We are graduate students on vacation, so budget was very important. But the comfort of a nice hotel while we were on vacation was also a luxury we were looking for. This place had both. The breafasts are great and the service is wonderful from the front desk to the doorman.

We stayed two nights at this hotel when we arrive to Bangkok. The superior room was ok and the breakfast buffet too, but we satayed a night in a standard room and it was really bad, in front of the highway, horrible bed (impossible to sleep) and there was a door that comunicates with the room beside and we could hear everything from our neighbours. The location is good if you want to be near Kao San Road, it´s only 10 minutes walking and also there´s free tuk tuk service from the hotel. But you are so far from metro and skytrain, that you have to take a taxi if you want to go everywhere. I would not come back to this hotel. Lau & Rob

The rooms are very clean and big (I had a superior room) and the staff are very kind and helpfull. I will soure come back here every time I have a stopover in Bangkok. Most of the hotel staff are execellent, except a few at reception desk aren't very helpful. The hotel management is quite generous in holding 2 around the pool party nights during my stay. The breakfast in the morning is also exceptionally good. I will stay here again if I visit BKK the next time. It's just a short distant to KhaoSan street area so it's very convenient. Also I recommend the Thai message in the hotel, it's true relaxation experience.

Fantastic! No complaints whatsoever. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to help. We enjoyed this hotel so much we extended our stay. Our room (superior twin 5th floor) was spotless and cleaned daily. Great buffet breakfast, free food and party by the pool (which was also spotlessly clean) free tuk tuk service both ways to KSR. Don't understand the negative comments. Fabulous value for money and can't wait to go back. Beats the over crowded, noisy, expensive alternatives in the KSR area.

Clean, friendly, very reasonably priced hotel in old quarter of Bangkok. Traffic noise could be a problem for light sleepers. Breakfast dishes could be hotter. Grime around edges of pool indicate that it should be cleaned more frequently. Overall, however, we were satisfied with the hotel.

Accommodation and facilities:
Excellent service with suprising actions made from hotel manager.Good value for the money.Hotel and rooms are old and needed renovation,location is good.I wanna mention special thanks to hotel manager about pool party (free of charge) and city tour,and not so ordinary tour.Free tuktuk.Food very good and reasonable prices.Only bad is hotel condition and like city hotels traffic noises and nothing special views.Must remember it's not a 5 star hotel.We will come back to De Moc with our next trip to Bangkok.

Convenient location.Clean rooms.My room was a bit noisy due to the fact that there is an overpass virtually right outside of the hotel.Pool was OK,a bit too deep for kids though.

Not worth the price, old and very worn down and it smells a bit in the rooms, smoke etc. Breakfast is ok, but we expected more when it was a buffet. We would not stay there again.

The Hotel is very well located near than Khao San Road. The building is quiet old but very well maintained and clean. The staff is very nice and they have free tuk tuk service. Very good quality/price. Recommended.

Hello, This hotel was built in 1964 according to its current manager. As a result the age of the fabric of the hotel is apparent. Notwithstanding this, the rooms are clean, well appointed and comfortable, with the proviso that you appreciate firm beds. Being close to centrally located, it is possible to walk to most central Bankok attractions, but avoid April and May uless you are committed walkers and appreciate high humidity. The staff make this Hotel attractive, they are attentive, the language barrier may cause mistakes, but ask youself how fluent you are in the Thai language before being critical. We will stay there again when we need accommodations in Bangkok. If you choose this hotel, please remember that the staff are grappling with many limitations and are, by western standards, providing very high standards of service to their clients. We appreciated the help by the hotel staff and the good breakfast buffet. AC wasn't as loud as in other BKK hotels... Late check-out is possible, but they tell you only at the reception that you have to pay, and it's quite expensive. As we had a late flight we preferred to return for a massage which was very nice, with some tea offered and reasonably priced. But one of the massage girls received several calls during the massage and spoke too long on phone: make sure they switch off their cell phones before the massage begins. The free Tuk Tuk service is a nice idea, but it starts only at 9 AM, so if you want to visit the temples in the morning as we did this might be too late.

Very good service, helps out with anything you need. Friendly staff. Free tuk-tuk to Koh San road. Rooms of good quality. AirCon a bit noisy, but functional. The rooms are a bit worn, but very cleen and tidy. They don't clean the rooms every day, so you might have to ask for another toilet role at the reception and they will sent it for you straight away. Higly recomendable! Would definitely stay here again.

Very good location, friendly staff, we could agree in two more nights stay for the internet-price, small, but nice pool, correct breakfast, good value for money. The only problem is the very noisy aircon.

Large, cleen rooms. Nice bathrooms, also very cleen. Very helpfull staff. The boss himself (I think a dutch guy) helps you out with information and useful tipps. Excellent breakfast buffet. Cleen pool. They even organised a free new years party by the pool for guests. With free food and drink. Wich we unfortunatly missed, cause we checked out earlyer. Located 10min. walk away from Khaosan Rd.

In general this is a pretty good hotel and value for money.The rooms are spacious and the balconies are of a good size. However there are a few negatives. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room, though their web site say there are. No iron & board available, but the staff will iron for you at a cost. We found that very few taxi drivers actually knew where the hotel was. Apparently the hotel has changed names several times and this has caused some confusion. Its location is a bit out of the way. Taxi or tuk tuk are needed to go anywhere of interest. The hotel does offer a tuk tuk service to Khoasan Rd. There are also bicycles available but I would not recommend using them on the streets of Bangkok. I would stay here again.

Our 2nd stay in Hotel De Moc.Well recommended. Love the views, staff, atmosphere.Rooms clean & spacious, mini bar well stocked & prices reasonable,tiolets of a high standard.Complimentary Tuk Tuk to Koh San Rd which obviously is handy.

Nice hotel with only 10 minutes walk to Khao San Road. Clean big rooms and very good breakfast! Perfect for staying central but without all the noise from Khao San! Special recommandation: Go to the Massage Salon that you see on the other side of the road when you sit in breakfast room! People over there are lovely and you are treated like a family member!
