A great hotel with a low price. Helpful staff and a wonderful breakfast. Incredibly nice and clean indoor and outdoor. The hotel is recommended, but not the city of Cha Am. Cha Am town was not a favorite for us. No opportunities for shopping, most handmade goods and small selection of restaurants. The beach was nice, but unfortunately very dirty. There was so much garbage on the beach. We had several nights in Hua Hin. There were many good restaurants to choose and a wide variety of shopping. Easy to get there. Taxi round trip cost 700 bath. It's cheap when the trip took 25 minutes one way

A great hotel in a perfect location just across the road from a lovely beach. There are free deck chairs and parasols for hotel guests. Information about the hotel services and what to do out and about is hard to find and the staff do not speak or understand english very well but this is a minor issue.The hotel room was huge and very comfortable and very clean. All of the public areas were well maintained and the breakfast although a bit limited in choice was good quality.We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to this hotel.

For people with a family (kids) this hotel is ideal. The location is about as good as it gets on Cha-am beach - not too busy, but plenty of ammenities to keep adults and young kids happy. The section of beach across the street is one of the hotels distinguishing features; there is a nice area of low densirty unberella's and there is not too many vendors and/or locals on an away day clogging up the street side parking in their 4x4 pick ups etc. The Hotel would be well advised to do their utmost to maintain the satus quo. There is a little bit of renovation going on at the moment, but unless you plan to sit in reception all day, it is of little of no disturbance. The food on offer at this hotel is quite good. Nice selection. Western food as good as can be expected, plenty of Thai-style dishes suuitable for the Western pallet, and good proper Thai food (my Thai wife recommends it). The breakfast is the usual buffet style offering, but it is nicer than average and better than many of the 4-5 star places I often stay at. All in, nice hotel, nice staff, good clean bright rooms, and no downside that is worth mentioning (accept maybe the small the car park, which is just about adequate).

A very good hotel with exceptionally friendly staff, especially amongst housekeeping. Good food, nice rooms and very good facilities. Just two VERY minor complaints:- (1)We had a 3 person room but it toook three days before we had a regular supply of three towels (a common Thai hotel failing)and items such as glasses, tooth brushes etc were always for 2 people instead of three; and (2) the beach deckchairs were not well attended and clients had to fend for thrmselves. If you are going to supply beach deckchairs do it properly or not at all. As I said not major problems and everything else was great.

After reading many, good reviews online we decided to spend a bit more money on this hotel and even though the reviews said the hotel was popular with Scandinavian tourists we did not expect it to be like a western care-home for the elderly! But this wasn't a problem for us really, although we felt out of place being young with a baby and two of the group Thai, it was the service and the hotel that we were really disappointed in. The reception staff were not friendly and didn't smile at all. My wife was really unhappy with the way they spoke to her. One day I wanted to rent a car so went to reception to see what services they had. The only thing the had was a free tourist broucher with an Avis advert in it. That was ok but to compare prices I wanted the telephone number. for Buget Car Rent in Hua Hin aswellm so asked if they could get the number for me. I was amazed to be told that they couldn't get the number! A hotel of this size with 8 people behind reception could not get the number. In the end I had to use my mobile to phone my dad in England who went online and got the number for me - A joke! Room Service, housekeeping and the maids were all terrible too. The rooms were cleaned to a very low standard and most days my tea cups were not replaced or cleaned but simply put on top of the fridge, dirty, not even put back on the saucers on the table. When I say dirty I mean the cups still had Ovaltine in them from my last drink! The floors were dusty and not cleaned for the whole time we were there, the bathroom floor was not cleaned and still had hair and dirt on the floor. My wife was unhappy with the maids too as they took the box for some new shoes she just bought, I guess the though it was rubbish but in was in the wardrobe and not anywhere near the bin! (What if her shoes were in it?) The two rooms we had were a bit of a contrast really, first, my room was in the old part of the building and is in need of updating. Not just some new paint but the decor is dated and the furniture is old. We were upgraded to a triple-room upon arrival (I don't now why but maybe to ease the blow?) and the room was big but lighting was very poor. There were no main lights on the celling, just a few lamps around the room which failed to spread adequate light. On the other hand, the room my brother-in-law had was in the new building and was very modern with dark brown wood decor and purple bed covers and pillows! I ordered room service one time and was very disappointed. When I m in Thailand I eat mostly Thai or Asian food (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese etc..) But as this international standard hotel claimed to do western food , I thought I would give their cheese burger & chips and fish & chips a try. After about a 30 minute wait the food arrived. In all fairness I did enjoy the cheese burger which was a big chuck of meat and cheese but the chips (french fries) were covered in salt and were few and far between. There were even less chips with the fish and so salty I could nt eat them. Another time I had to phone twice to ask for my laundry to be picked up as we needed to give it to them before 10:00am to be returned before we checked out. I understand it's a big hotel and very busy but when they say just a minute and hang-up I don't expect to wait 30 minutes. I had a few drinks at the pool side bar a couple of times when they had happy hour. The young men working in the bar were very polite and I spoke to them mainly in Thai which I liked as all the other staff just spoke English to me. The drinks are expensive too, A small bottle of heineken was 110 Baht + service charge + Tax! The hotel gym was rubbish aswell. It was small with one running machine, one bike, some free weights and one multi-gym which was in bad condition and the bit for leg work-out was broken. I went in the gym to use it but left feeling very disappointed again. The breakfast buffet was ok and there was a lot of choice including eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, all kinds of fresh fruit and juices and some cakes and sweets. The hot Thai food was ok but not really that great but at least they changed some of the dishes every day. My main problem with the breakfast is the fact that the restaurant is open air with celling fans that do basically nothing. Some days it was really humid and with so many people squeezed in it was quite hot. Some times you had to wait for a table as there were not enough tables for all the guests. Overall we are extremely disappointed with this hotel and for the price the service should be so much better. I have stayed in Hotels all over Thailand and this is NOT good Thai hospitality and we would never stay here again and recommend other people to look elsewhere.

We had 2 rooms at this hotel. One room was better than the other. Here is my general review of the hotel.... After reading many, good reviews online we decided to spend a bit more money on this hotel and even though the reviews said the hotel was popular with Scandinavian tourists we did not expect it to be like a western care-home for the elderly! But this wasn't a problem for us really, although we felt out of place being young with a baby and two of the group Thai, it was the service and the hotel that we were really disappointed in. The reception staff were not friendly and didn't smile at all. My wife was really unhappy with the way they spoke to her. One day I wanted to rent a car so went to reception to see what services they had. The only thing the had was a free tourist broucher with an Avis advert in it. That was ok but to compare prices I wanted the telephone number. for Buget Car Rent in Hua Hin aswellm so asked if they could get the number for me. I was amazed to be told that they couldn't get the number! A hotel of this size with 8 people behind reception could not get the number. In the end I had to use my mobile to phone my dad in England who went online and got the number for me - A joke! Room Service, housekeeping and the maids were all terrible too. The rooms were cleaned to a very low standard and most days my tea cups were not replaced or cleaned but simply put on top of the fridge, dirty, not even put back on the saucers on the table. When I say dirty I mean the cups still had Ovaltine in them from my last drink! The floors were dusty and not cleaned for the whole time we were there, the bathroom floor was not cleaned and still had hair and dirt on the floor. My wife was unhappy with the maids too as they took the box for some new shoes she just bought, I guess the though it was rubbish but in was in the wardrobe and not anywhere near the bin! (What if her shoes were in it?) The two rooms we had were a bit of a contrast really, first, my room was in the old part of the building and is in need of updating. Not just some new paint but the decor is dated and the furniture is old. We were upgraded to a triple-room upon arrival (I don't now why but maybe to ease the blow?) and the room was big but lighting was very poor. There were no main lights on the celling, just a few lamps around the room which failed to spread adequate light. On the other hand, the room my brother-in-law had was in the new building and was very modern with dark brown wood decor and purple bed covers and pillows! I ordered room service one time and was very disappointed. When I m in Thailand I eat mostly Thai or Asian food (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese etc..) But as this international standard hotel claimed to do western food , I thought I would give their cheese burger & chips and fish & chips a try. After about a 30 minute wait the food arrived. In all fairness I did enjoy the cheese burger which was a big chuck of meat and cheese but the chips (french fries) were covered in salt and were few and far between. There were even less chips with the fish and so salty I could nt eat them. Another time I had to phone twice to ask for my laundry to be picked up as we needed to give it to them before 10:00am to be returned before we checked out. I understand it's a big hotel and very busy but when they say just a minute and hang-up I don't expect to wait 30 minutes. I had a few drinks at the pool side bar a couple of times when they had happy hour. The young men working in the bar were very polite and I spoke to them mainly in Thai which I liked as all the other staff just spoke English to me. The drinks are expensive too, A small bottle of heineken was 110 Baht + service charge + Tax! The hotel gym was a great let-down aswell. No complaints whatsoever. We booked a two bedroom and enjoyed it very much. One of the best washrooms I have seen in any hotel. The staff was helpful, and the location was excellent. Breakfast was very good, and we had dinner one might in the open air terrace, which was also good. We discovered the pier, (20 minute walk North along the beach), for lunch, where the food is extraordinary. Half a dozen restaurants, with live seafood displayed.

Excellent hotel with very nice large pools, one in the sun and one in the shade between two of the hotel buildings (made the water cooler, which was very nice). Private beach was excellent since it was not crowded at all. Nice clean beach. Live music in the evenings which was nice. Piano needs tuning though. The breakfast at this hotel was just fantastic, probably the best I have ever had on a hotel! Highly recommended hotel!

HEAVEN! Yes, this hotel is pure heaven. Excellent staff - everywhere! The rooms are spotless. Two pools and the beach means there is room for everyone. Our family spent six wonderful days at Methavalai Cha-Am. We booked a family room and the room turned out to be so big that my children could play mini bowling with tennis ball and plastic bottles. The location is good as there are plenty of restaurants and mini-marts nearby. The beach is just across the road and there are private chairs set aside for hotel guests. The swimming pool area is a bit small and deck chairs were reserved very early in the morning by other European guests. Otherwise it is a very good trip and we will be back.

We were staying in hotel Methavalei for 4days-3 nights. We took the beach villa rooms, which are located at the 1st floor. It is wonderful that those rooms face directly onto the swimming pool. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The staff is very kind and helpful. The breakfast is good and varied. Despite you have to cross the street to reach the beach, we were very satisfied of our stay at that hotel. We will come back again and do recommend the hotel Methavalei. It is good value for money.

We have stayed several times at this hotel, and have always liked it. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the two swimming pools are very good. Most of the staff are very friendly and efficient - though there were a few that were less than smiling a couple of times. Some parts of the hotel have reached the stage where they need some maintenance. In particular, the fitness centre is badly in need of this. There is hardly any equipment, and the one exercise bike provided is unusable (the seat height can't be adjusted, and you can't adjust the resitance). From earlier visits I know that it has been this way for at least two years, so the management really should do something about this. But: all in all a very good hotel. If you want to just relax (rather than sweat in fitness centre) you won't be disappointed.

Hotel was good and was to my expectations from what I saw on the net. Room Was Spacious and had a very good sea view. To sum it up, I will say it was a good value for money.

This is a excellent resort, the room big en clean, service is very good, nice staff and every one is there to make you staying there comfortly. Food is good, and prizes normal. Pool is very good. Only internet uses not free off charges, high prizes off using.Musik entertainment in evening by dinner also very good. they playing englisch and thai style off musik. I will certenly come back to this place.

Old hotel (20+ yrs). But looks clean and the rooms are clean but everything needs updating. If you are looking for somewhere quiet with not much to do this is the place. If you want some entertainment, dining, etc, better you stay at huahin. Hotel have bus to huahin for 250 return. Breakfast pretty average with not much to offer. Staff all seem to be disinterested in their job and not happy or friendly. Whenever we requested something eg: Open the room safe, book the bus to huahin, even check-out all seem to take a very long time.

This is my third time at the same hotel. This time I stayed in the Thai Pavillion Rooms. Booked one entire house so it was great for my whole family. Nice ambiance in those rooms! Love the huge balconey and style of the house. Only thing though, rooms are in need of renovations to update them. Lights too dark inside rooms and bathrooms and two of the rooms didn't seem to have any hot water. Still, overall, service at the hotel was good and staff, friendly as always.

Wonderfully efficient and polite. I am impressed by their suggestion to book the entire house instead of separating my family into two of those Pavillion houses!

Excellent welcome. Hotel in flower, near the beach. Rooms are clean, with large blacony. Our room (the 401) had a large terrace in front of the sea. It was a dream. We were very happy. The breakfast is good. The swimming pool is large and beautifull. Thank you very much, the staff was pleasant and effective. I recommend this hotel in Cha Am

Methavalai is well located opposite the beach. Staff were helpful and friendly.We had a very large room on the 2nd floor of the main building. Room was very clean and pool areas and restaurants etc were very clean. Only negative comment is people being allowed to smoke in restaurants at hotel. Particular annoying at breakfast whilst trying to eat and surrounded by smokers.This seems to be normal in all restaurants here.We would recommend this hotel.

We stayed in one of the Thai Villa 2nd floor room as we had asked for in forehand, it was very nice although back of the villa there is quite close a music bar where you could hear music until 10-11pm, room itself was very nice but bed madrasses were really hard, we had extra bed but the room is so spacious that it fitted nicely in the room. Minibar prices were very reasonable. Breakfast was ok also. Beach is just other side of the beach road a few steps away from hotel. We did not eat nor lunch or dinner at the hotel so no comments about hotel restaurants. Hotel pool was crowded every day which is understandable since the pool area is not very big.

Second time staying at hotel and was pleased with service and hospitality of staff. The New Year's Eve dinner was done very well. Room was granted as requested, no problem there. Beach was a little crowded but guess it was because of the year end holidays. Will definitely return again!
