Accommodation and facilities:
The Hotel is located near Chiang Mai Gate, where there are a lot of local food stalls on the streets at night. However, the road from the hotel to the main steet is about 7 mins walk, but it is dark at night, I don't feel safe to walk at night. The hotel room itself is good, but there is no hot water for shower in the late evening. The hotel can be better if they can replace the old towels as well. The people are helpful and price is ok.

A fine hotel and well placed if you want to stay close to the center and still have some peace and quiet. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Super cleaning. New sheets every day!!! Only downside was that we had no balcony, so the room was a little dark. Totally recoendable.

I found it to be good value for money. We had the standard room with balcony. Breakfast average. Small but nice swimmingpool. Too far to walk to the night market area, but 60 bath will take you there in five minutes with a tuk-tuk. 3 mins walk to the moat and the saturday market.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. I will like to commend on the security guard at the hotel. He is very helpful and honest guy. He was always there to greet you and help you in any way possible. I thought I lost my camera but lucky he found it and return it to me! Most people would keep it. I was very impressed!! He gave us details of directions by indicating on the map how to get to our destinations. The breakfast at the hotel was good too.

Accommodation and facilities:
Absolutely lovely hotel! We couldn't fault it at all. We opted to stay in a standard rather than superior room, because the superiors do not have balconies.(Before booking I telephoned the hotel to enquire, and although all the rooms are nonsmoking, you are allowed to smoke on the balcony if you so wish,or just to be able to sit outside!) All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Infact they were lovely and not at all snooty and make you feel very welcome and special. Their restaurant, where you can sit inside or outside, serves absolutely first class food. The buffet breakfast was also first class. It is in a good location also. We did not find it at all noisy and the room did not smell at all, and we had no problems whatsoever with hot water in the shower,as previous reviews have stated. We would DEFINITLY go back to this hotel, without a doubt...and for 900thb a night!! Thank you Chiang Mai Gate Hotel for a perfect 5night stay!! We will be back!!

The standard room was old and smelly. We upgraded to the deluxe room, and it was excellent (like the photos). Beautifully decorated, very comfortable and clean. Main complaint- very noisy hotel because inside and outside rooms are tile floors, and the doors slam shut starting early in the morning. All the sound echos- we had to stuff a blanket under the door to sleep in in the morning. Breakfast was good.

Reservation service:
Excellent.

Chiangmai Gate Hotel

Accommodation and facilities:
We stayed at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel from 30/12/08 and checked out on 03/01/09. We stayed in a Superior Room . These rooms have no balconies, but it didn't matter to us at all. The pool is a decent size and very clean. There are plenty of sun beds, change rooms, toilets & showers which is very handy. We found the pool a little intimidating at times as many Europeans hogged the lounges and gave you a bad look if you came to have a swim (like invading their territory I suppose). I suppose no beach in Chiang Mai means the pool is the only place to flop your wrinkly saggy baggys out & soak up those lovely cancer causing ultra violet rays haha! Suckers... The hotel is quite large (4 levels & different wings) and has a very welcoming spacious lobby with plenty of plush lounges to sit at and relax with a drink from the bar (or bring your own). Staff were always smiling & friendly, check in / check out was a breeze & room servicing was good also. The shower was odd as the hot water took a long time to come on and it was constantly changing from hot to cold so it was hard to have a decent shower. Breakfast was good also with plenty to chose from (bacon, eggs, toast, fruit thai food etc). There was plenty of seating inside & outside to eat breakfast. The hotel is located about a 5 min walk to the actual main road/s where you will find roadside food, 7/11, markets + much more. The night markets were about 15min walk from the hotel (you must cross very busy roads but the traffic mostly takes care & slows down for you). Taxi & tuk tuk drivers were here and there, but not harrassing at all like other areas can be. A metered taxi to the hotel from the Chiang Mai airport costs 50bht for booking fee & about 50bht for the fare. If you are approached by the metered taxi service, you really should use it as they are very very honest! Overall we would stay at this hotel again for it's good value for money & location. We like Chiang Mai very much & look forward to going back.

Reservation service:
No worries at all. A pleasure as always!

Comfy, 2 star hotel. friendly English speaking staff. 1 Problem was safety of the pool, many people were getting injured from sharp uneven tiles which the hotel were aware of and trying to file down every evening but nevertheless causing many nasty cuts. Swim in socks!

Chiang Mai Gate Hotel was founded to be a place that proudly expresses a love of Chiang Mai, its 700-year history and as well as its perfect blend of pristine natural resources, rich traditional heritage, unique culture, modern amenities and technology.

The Hotel is situated in the prime location of Chiang Mai - the Wua Lai Community, an old silverware manufacturing community where the fascinating lifestyle and activities of the locals can be discovered and experienced. Here you can find affordable ancient and modern silverware that come in various decorative designs.

img img

There are three important temples which were at the centre of the local peoples' spiritual needs. Wat Sri Suphan, joined by Wat Tat Kam and Wat Nantaram have developed a community awareness program which is the rejuvenation of the silver crafting industry of the Wua Lai Community.

Many of the traditional art can also be easily found in these three temples, since the traditional art and local knowledge were perpetuated from generation to generation up until nowadays through faith the residents have for the temples. The professional artisans of various art types in the community usually dedicated their work to the local temples so as to promote local knowledge, produce art to contribute to Lanna, develop cultural tourist attractions, and as merit making.

img img

To express our love of the Lanna heritage, fine reproductions of the decorative motifs from the three temples are proudly used as thematic elements of the rooms at Chiang Mai Gate Hotel.

Many locals and tourists also look forward to visiting and going shopping for cheap handicrafts of silk, silver and wood produced locally as timeless souvenirs at the handicraft market of the Wua Lai Community on every late evening of Saturday. You will even enjoy more if you give the local food and drinks a try. Various on-stage performances of the young students from the schools in the community are also spectacular. This Saturday market on Wua Lai Road is just something you can't miss when you're in Chiang Mai. It is such a colorful cultural street.

A warm, gracious, congenial and authentic hospitality of the staff at Chiang Mai Gate Hotel will also make your visits to Chiang Mai memorable and meaningful.

You're always welcomed to Chiang Mai Gate Hotel to experience a wonderful vacation in Chiang Mai.

Being locally rated the best among many hotels in Chiang Mai, 124 rooms of Chiang Mai Gate Hotel are nicely decorated in traditional Lanna style.
Apart from providing clean, comfortable and air-conditioned rooms (comfortably equipped with your choice of shower or bath tub and with cable T.V, refrigerator, telephone etc.), we also offer a wide range of basic amenities, facilities and services.
