Although the hotel itself is somewhat outdated, they do a terrific job in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and service so that your overall impression is one of a 4 or even a 5 star hotel. However the real advantage to staying at the Mae Ping is it's location. If central is what you want, then I would highly recommend this hotel. I have stayed at other hotels on my many visits to Chiang Mai and I have yet to find one better in so many respects; the room, service, location and even their breakfast is quite good. For the money, you simply can't beat it!

We loved the Imperial hotel! The location so close to Night market and walking distance from nice restaurants was great and yet the hotel was located in an area quiet enough to guarantee a good night's sleep. All locals seemed to know of the hotel too so it was never a problem to get transportation back to the hotel. Our room was old and not yet upgraded but it had character. The breakfast buffet was amazing, we have not seen that kind of variety for a long time and we still dream of their steamed rice-coconut cakes...The best part was the service. Everyone from reception staff to bell boys were lovely and eager to help. We felt welcome and well taken care of and ended up extending our stay. This hotel was great value for money and we can't wait to go back to Chiang Mai!

We will be back for sure as the location was just perfect for us as it was near the night markets and close the excellent restaurants and night life was interesting to say the least. We love Chiang Mai and the people and their traditions and culture. Thank you to the staff who made our stay so very enjoyable at the Imperial Mae Ping. booked with siameservices.com and got a steal with their rates. For only 4800thai bat, it included transfers, room upgrades and breakfast. Breakfast was buffet and fantastic. you have a wide spread of choices. from western to asian and american. Room was a little small but it was still fine. nice bed and duvet covers. Service was excellent As promised by siameservices.com, rep of hotel was waiting when i arrived at the airport and whisked away to the hotel at an instant.had a problem with the suitcase that had locked and i cant open it. they sent the engineer up who opened it for me but i was still doing bangkok so i wanted it locked again. front office manager udong helped me out, he asked someone to buy a padlock so i can still use my suitcase Im so thankful for this all this because in three hours i was going to fly out to bangkok already.Thanks so much Mr. Udong for helping me out.so much help was extended and i only have fond memories of chaingmai and imperial mae ping. Would suggest tours in the night bazaar areas than in the hotel.cheaper and good service as well. Booked with gem travel agency for tours. However minor quirks include, my key card won't work on 2 both days after I came back from shopping - minor inconvenience solved at the counter. Strangely enough, my towels disappeared the morning after I went for breakfast. After checking with the housekeeping, they thought I was supposed to check out (which I am not). Its wierd since they only removed the towels and not make up the room as well...Overall, for the price I paid, it was well worth the money compared to their neightbour Duangtawan on a similar price category

The hotel is the perfect place to stay if you want to visit Chiang Mai. The location is near the night market aswell the old city centre. The staff is very friendly. The room was big and clean. The swimmingpool very good. breakfast delicious. About Chiang Mai; we expected more of the night market and shoppingplaces, and, be aware of the tailors! In 4 days, 6 thai people came to tell us how good Tailor Viewping Collection is. Accidentilly all these people were on vacantion in ChiangMai specially for visiting the tailor, and all of them knew Holland very well, or had family living there. When we visit the tailor, his prices were very high. Almost 9000 bath for a suit while in Krabi (South of Thailand)a suit will cost 3500 bath!!!! The hotel didn't knew the tailor, but we found it very very strange! So be aware of them. The hotel is absolutely recommended and we definitely come back!!

This was my first stay at the Imperial Mae Ping and i will be back . I have stayed at many hotels and guest houses in Chiang Mai and this was one of the best experiences with a large hotel in Thailand . There is a parking lot if you are driving . You can walk to the Night Bazzar if you are interested . The staff was very nice . The breakfast buffet was also very good . The only negative thing i could say was I had a room located on the 6th floor on the north side of the hotel and i could hear loud noises coming from the many bars on that side . But considering you in the heart of the tourist area it's not all that bad . Great stay and value . And 2 very nice pools .

Since none of the Royal suites has got a bath tube (?!)But only showers, we stayed one night on the Presidential Suite. Paying over 12000 per night should leave a good impression isn t? Well it didn t! The bathroom cleaning status is far from being good. The facilities are old, not enough light in any of the 3 rooms suite and the air con is far from making you breathe well and the presence of 2 dozens of mosquitoes made it even harder.
