As a family with 2 small children we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. I dont want to say too much as the hotel may become too popular. Only criticism was that a bottle of Heineken at 190 Baht was too much! Iain

This is the third time I have stayed at the Felix and the rooms, service and staff have been excellent and I will continue to stay there when I visit Kanchanaburi. One service they could add which would be a great convenience for guests would be to have a ferry service available accross the river from the Hotel which would take you directly into the main area of the River Kwai attraction.

The room itself was nice enough if a little tired as is the rest of the Hotel. The Sonkran boat cruise was an hour too long at 2 1/2hrs and was very hot and sweaty. The main thing to let this pplace down was the Spa, if it can called that. The facilities were a disgrace for a hotel of this size and stature and the service was a joke. The lady was on her phone during the massage and kept leaving the room to talk to her friend. If you want a 5 star stay in Kanchanaburi DONT stay here as i only discovered whilst i was there there is a Beuatiful new hotel Dheva Mantra where id be staying if returned located just up the road.

Reservation service:

The room balcony was extreemly dirty and almost unusable. The pathways and stairs were also grubby and needed maintenance. The rooms themselves were ok, but the bathroom was below par. Room service was very slow. No coffee making facilities in the room. The pool area was good and the grounds were generally impressive.

Very important structure of several small 2 storey building nestled in beautiful gardens with 2 swimming pools. Our deluxe room was facing the River Kwai which was a very great moment at Sunset! Chinese restaurant serves a real Chinese food with an excellent Peking Duke and the ambiance in the bar at night was a great moment thanks to the live band. The buffet breakfast is huge and excellent. Nothing to say about staff, most of them English speaking, they do their job in a correct way. The main advantage of this hotel is that it is located at a walkind distance from the famous bridge.

Reservation service:
Efficient, but SiameServices should not request the full payment at the time of reservation (2 months before the arrival date)

The breakfast was ordinary but for what we paid it was not bad.The staff were very helpful it was a shame that the hotel was not busier.Tour desk (we booked a trip on the train and elephant ride, waterfall and Hell Fire Pass - our guide nickname X was excellent and also the driver) TV's in the restaurant - not the best location the hotel would be better off investing in having UBC in guest rooms instead!

The check-in was efficient, we had booked 2 x double rooms, we arrived at 2pm only one room was ready, we waited until 3pm for the 2nd room. This is our 2nd stay at the hotel, the 1st stay was in 2007. The rooms are in real need of renovation. The bathrooms especially need an update, cracked tiles etc. The linen and towels are very old. On returing to our room for our 2nd night we had no toilet roll and only 1 tissue neatly folded and put into the empty box. I had to telephone twice to get a toilet roll delivered. The 3rd night, we had no hand towels. At 2000baht per night this is an expensive hotel in Kanchanaburi and should be better. The breakfast is very good and the two evening meals we had were very good, the Chinese restaurant peking duck was excellent. The location is near the bridge and can be walked over to get into the more tourist part, we had a car so getting around was easy.

The location of the hotel is very convenient: every afternoon, we walked in the shortcut way, over the bridge and arrived at the point were we took a taxi (100 Baht) to the center. The way back to the hotel, after dinner, cost us 150 Baht (a nice tuk tuk ride).Breakfast at the hotel was excellent and the service was good.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and would have stayed longer if we had not got other bookings arranged, the staff were very helpful and the rooms were very nicely arranged - some parts could have been tidied up but on the whole it was good. The pool was great - the best on our visit to Thailand and the food/service was good. If you want a nice walk across the bridge to the resort it can be done in a few minutes, otherwise taxis have to take the longer route and may be expensive if you don't barter. They do provide a transfer from the hotel to the town but that depends on if the vehicle is available - otherwise the staff at the tour desk will arrange one at a very reasonable price and they re really helpful too!! Enjoyed our stay and would go there again.

Nice hotel whith very good location (you can walk to the river kwai bridge),clean and comfortable rooms, and newly furniture. Bathroom are a little bit older, but also clean and comfort. Great and cultured garden, two clean pools whith enough deckchairs and towels....every room has balcony/terrace with chairs and table. You can order the quiet garden view or you can have river view...this, we can not recommend, because there is a discotheque on the other side of the river....what a noise... The breakfast is very good and you can have all that the heart can disire. The prices in the restaurants and bars at Felix River Kwai are in order. The staff was very helpfull and friendly. We can recommend it, and we will use it again, if we need a hotel in Kanchanaburi.

CNN, BLOOMBERG or CNBC which are so much more popular should be made available.A one-way trip across the RIVER KWAI cost 1800Bht.A bicycle rental cost 60Bht.per hour. This is too expensive. The Hotel should provide at least one complimentary return trip to Kanchanaburi in the course of his stay. Generally, meals are more expensive and are only mediocre.I would come back, but I will make better meals and transportation arrangement in the future.

Accommodation and facilities:
We had booked three delux river view rooms, for five adults and three children. Our rooms were clean and well equipped and had a fantastic view of the River Kwai. The children just loved playing in the big pool and feeding the fish in the small canals. The big garden was beautiful. The staff was very helpful and the food in the restaurants was very good. Consequently, we were very statisfied with our stay at this hotel. During our three day stay in Kanchanaburi we visited the Tiger Temple, the floating markets and the Erawan Waterfalls. We also took a ride on the Death Railway and visited an elephant camp where we could bath with the elephants in the river. A travel agency, Good Times Travel, had organized these tours including transfer to and from Bangkok. We can really recommed this travel agency.

Reservation service:

Very pleasant, superbly located resort hotel right next to the River Kwai bridge. Very peaceful setting due to its situation c. 6 kilometres outside Kanchanaburi. Staff are helpful and the whole complex is well managed and maintained. I would personally say that it is worth spending the extra money to take a deluxe river view room in Block H as the views -particularly at sunset - are well worth the premium.

Reservation service:
Very smooth. No problems experienced.

Accommodation and facilities:
Very pleasant resort, right on the Kwai river, and close to the railway bridge. The resort consists of several 3 storey buildings linked by walkways, all surrounding a pool and garden area. Room was clean, and well supplied with slippers and robes etc. Bathroom showed some wear, and the shower curtain needed changing, but overall very tidy and acceptable. Restaurant has a large menu, but I always think it best to go for food the chef may be most familiar with, and the Thai food was good. Breakfast buffet had a good choice, and great omelets made to order. Overall a good place to stay.

Reservation service:

We stayed here for 6 nights and enjoyed every one of them. Staff were friendly and courteous. We had a superior garden view room which was fantastic. Would probably pay the extra few dollars for a river view next time but have no complaints with what we had. We thought the hotel van was expensive at 180bht to take you across the river (that's if there are only 2 of you)therefore we walked across the bridge each day - daunting if you are afraid of heights but I did it anyway! We found the meals at the resort great and reasonably priced and didn't have any great wish to visit the bars and restaurants on the otherside of an evening. There's plenty to do at the resort and I guess anything equivalent would cost about 8 times more in Australia and you d only find a similar resort around the Gold Coast region. Will stay at the Felix again!!!

Reservation service:
Fantastic service, polite, professional and reliable. We d certainly use siameservices.com again!!!

Tacky and too busy , the Felix is attempting to be European, much to it's detrement. The hotel rooms are large, but seem unfinished, for example, missing grout in the bathrooms. The views of the river are excellent, despite the passing party boats. The restaurant is well staffed with very helpful and polite employees. Would also recommend the restaurants food. The pool area was a bit unkept and tired looking. Also, a little hard to navigate around the resort grounds due to the use of bridges and carp pool throughout the resort. Location was convenient, with a 10 minute walk to Kanchanaburi and it's restaurants (just don't eat at the Jolly Frog-you'll regret it the next day!)Would rate it 8 out of 10, due to the excellent food, customer service and proximity to town.

Reservation service:
Easy to use, great prices, would especially commend the English speaking customer service staff. Would definately recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Were initially very disapointed as the main pool was closed for renovations, and we love to swim. Luckily there is a second pool at the resort so our resentment was short lived. Location is great, loved our daily walks over the bridge. Breakfasts were good and the rooms were clean and spacious. Would absolutely stay here again.

As always, an efficient and reliable service.

Nice, well appointed resort. We stayed in a riverside room, which was also well equipped and clean, with a nice verandah, and enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only gripe we had with our stay was the inexplicably dire quality of the Thai dinner offerings - high prices for seafood dishes with 2 prawns and a single sliver of squid in them (poorly cooked) and stale fish were two of the dishes we sampled... literally. Perversely the European dishes were good, comparitively excellent in fact. We would, and perhaps will, stay again but avoid the Thai dishes - or perhaps chef was on holiday whilst we were there.

Reservation service:
Flawless. Thanks.

We booked 2 connecting garden view rooms for us & our children of 5 & 7. The rooms were very big. We had a king size bed and our children had 2 double beds. The hotel pool was huge and had games (basketball) you could play in it. There is also a childrens playground in the grounds. The grounds are big and are nice to wander around. We all thought it was a nice hotel and very good value. It's about a 5 minute walk to the bridge which you cross to get into Kanchanaburi. There's a nice floating restaurant just the other side of the bridge. We stayed for 3 nights and could easily have stayed for longer. There's plenty to do around Kanchanaburi. We would all stay in this hotel again.

Reservation service:
Although SiameServices wouldn't guarantee the connecting rooms (they said they could only strongly request them), there were no problems on arrival and the connecting rooms had been reserved. All emails were answered promptly. I would definitely use them again.

Felix River Kwai Resort

Accommodation and facilities:
The Felix was a good standard hotel in a great location right by the Bridge over the River Kwai. We had a deluxe river view room which was nice and spacious although the river view for our block was not from the balcony but from outside the front door to the room. The grounds of the hotel are well kept and it has a very good sized swimming pool. The hotel restaurant is pretty uninspiring both in terms of atmosphere and the food. There is a fun pub and lounge bar but it seems, as you would expect, no one really hands around the hotel in the evening. As well as the lack of atmosphere you will also end up paying hotel prices for everything which is at least twice as much as that in the town. you do need to go across to the other side of the bridge for the nightlife. You can easily do this by either going by foot, it takes about 10 minutes, pay 200 baht for the hotel taxi (it will cost 150baht to come back by a taxi in the town) or rent a moped and do the journey yourself. Even including the taxi fare you will spend less money in town on dinner and drinks for the whole night than you would in the hotel, and have a much better time. Just ask the taxi driver to drop you at 7 eleven or the Jolly Frog and you are in the middle of the main road of activity.

Reservation service:
Straight forward as ever.
