In some respects i was disappointed with this hotel. The service is good,staff friendly & willing to please. The location on the beach,althoug sea quite roughin that area.The rooms fairly small & basic & the hardest mattress i have ever slept on. The pool area was pleasant but the pool itself was awful really run down & the so called spas emerging from the water like two concrete bunkers. The position of the hotel lends itself to an infinity pool or a wonderful tropical pool.

We have been going to Koh Samui every year for the last 10 years. This was our first visit to Banan Fan Sea Resort. The pictures do not do it justice. It was a beautiful resort. We stayed in the beachfront 2 bedroom villa, it was gorgeous. We had the best holiday ever in Koh Samui, mostly because of this resort. The service, staff, rooms everything was just perfect. We have already booked again for next year. We are counting down the days.

Great hotel with a staff that is truly extraordinay. A special thanks to the general manager Mr Supit Choo-In and to his assistant miss Mas for helping us when we had problems with one of the ferry companies. Banana Fan Sea has the best hotel restaurant we tried on Samui(4 hotels). I recommend the feature weekly evening buffets and the breakfast is very good also. Great pool and super beach location. Good for children. The best stay we had on Samui. Peter, Copenhagen Denmark.

We stayed at Banana Fan (a medium size resort) for 4 nights in February during the Chinese New Year holiday. I am American and my husband is British, in our 30s and we live in Beijing. This was our second stay at Banana Fan in the Deluxe Bungalows which are a good value for the price as they are nice, clean, of a decent size, the resort is beachfront and located on a strip of Chaweng (not Bophut) that has all the amenities (restaurants, shops, pharmacies, massage, etc) steps away but is quieter and less exciting than other parts of chaweng. The hotel grounds are lovely, pool is nice (medium size) and the beachfront area is also nice with beachfront massages available for 200-300 baht. That said, the room with a nice size private balcony was comfy and clean but not luxurious. Our TV looked like it was from the 80s and there was no DVD player or any other technology available, though there was strong A/C. The bathroom is also quite basic though clean. The breakfast buffet by the beach/pool is good with an egg station, a couple thai dishes, breads/pastries/cereals, fruit, salad, etc. It is good but not outstanding with minimal rotation in options each day. It starts at 7 am (goes to 10 am) which is a bit late if you book any diving or boat trips as those all pick you up around 7 am. Would be better if they could start the breakfast at 630 am for people going on trips. Lunch options are also good. Service is satisfactory, again nothing particularly outstanding or disappointing. One minor item we noticed when we checked in is that they have a board welcoming guests checking in that day by name and pointing out return guests. Our names were not there when we checked in which doesn't make you feel too good when you re also a return guest. And they wouldve known when we were arriving as we had the hotel pick us up at the airport (no problems with that - 400 baht for 2 people). Not a huge deal but if you don't make sure to include everyone it's better not to do it at all. Just an example of attention to the details. Beach-wise we noticed the water here was much rougher than when we moved down the beach to Chaweng Regent which we enjoyed much more (though it is more expensive there), water was so much calmer at that end of the beach and the area was much livelier and with a much younger crowd which we preferred. Important point - the early morning rush to claim beach chairs does seem to happen here (at least it did when the hotel was fully booked like when we stayed.) This is stressful as it meant we needed to set our alarms each morning for 7 am to make a mad dash to save chairs or risk having nothing all day. We much preferred the no saving beach chairs policy that chaweng regent employed which meant that chairs were usually available at any time of the day as staff would move people's things when chairs were claimed but left unoccupied for long stretches (or maybe they just had more chairs too). It also seemed that some pool staff at banana fan were selectively helping a few guests to reserve chairs in the early AM which made us uncomfortable. Crowd-wise banana fan seemed to cater to many older guests with a few young families and younger couples here and there. It's not the place for a party vibe but it is relaxing while still being busy. The free wifi (if you bring your own computer) is a very nice plus though you do have to pay if you use the internet in the hotel lobby -- better to just go to one of the several internet cafes nearby. Ninja Crepes a bit down the street is a decent, very cheap option for thai food though not luxurious at all and not somewhere you d want to eat too many meals but ok once or twice. open 24 hours. We did enjoy it here on two vacations but don't think we d stay again as I think we can find better options. Happy travels :)

Location - too far south away from the main strip. Rooms - awful, stuffy, could not breathe, it was as if someone had been smoking and the room had not been aired in ages, dusty curtains, they were burning insense and spraying with something that resembled bug spray!

A great place to stay in Thailand, although a little expensive but very nice. Rooms clean, contain safety deposit boxes & fridges a good size all with a veranda. Very nice resort. We stayed for 6 nights in the beach front villa with 2 bedrooms. Great! Clean and very nice villa. The rest of the resort was very beutiful. Lovely garden and personnel. We meet a couple from Stavanger, Norway and they had stayed in this resort 6 times. I think that says alot! The last 2 days we stayed in a villa bungalow. That was to small to 2 adults and 2 children, but we knwe that before we booked. The beach front was not available for our two last days, and since we didn't want to move to another resort, we just decided to stay here. We will recommend this resort for everybody. A lot of scandinavian tourists; that was nice since we come from Norway.

An excellent resort for a family with teenagers. Our deluxe bungalows were reasonably small but fine for our needs. The rooms were well serviced and suppled everything necessary. The resort is beautifully located on the best part of the beach and the pool and beach are not far from any of the rooms. The location is also very convenient to the shopping areas and restaurants which is great as although the breakfasts (complimentary for us) and the lunches were great we found we could eat far more cheaply in the town area for our evening meal. We personally, would restrict the evening entertainment to only a few nights per week as although I understand some would enjoy the thai/polynesian nights we found the regular musical entertainment rather hard to deal with. The service is exceptional and the staff unbelievably friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time at Banana Fan Sea and would happily return as it was the easiest and most relaxing holiday that we have ever experienced.

As lovely as ever! Very friendly staff, perfect beach setting. Will go back for 4th time! Would recommend that hotel gets additional beach loungers when fully booked, as we had nowhere to lie if arriving at pool or beach after 11.30am. This not acceptable. Europeans seem to leave belongings on chairs but not use them for hours! Breakfasts very standard - lunches around pool are very good. An addition of a gym would be great. Not another place on Chaweng beach that we would rather stay - we have looked! - so we will be back!!

Best place to go on Chaweng. The rooms are good, the grounds are great & the staff are sensational. We spent 2.5 weeks there & loved it. Management shouldn't stress so much over the dogs. They re fixed, friendly & most of the guests love them! If you don't like dogs on the beach, don't go to thailand!

this was our first trip to Koh sumi and we had a wonderful time at a very good quality resort . the banana fan sea samui is a great resort with a very good accomadation we stayed in a superior room bungalow with all the facilities aircondition and clean . The location is perfect in the main area of chaweng , then gardens are great and the pool is very good . The staff are very friendly and helpful , great interent asess and we felt very safe within the complex l have no hesitation in recommending Banana Fan Sea Samui .

BananaFan was of two hotels we stayed at at Samui (two one week stays, the second was at Chaeng Mon). We also stayed in a different hotel last year, therefore had a few other hotels and places to compare it against. This hotel is situated in one of the more convenient locations, right on Chaewang Beach approx 300 meters South of the middle of Chaewang Road tourist strip (Good location). There are plenty of shopping and restaurants within a 1 kilometere walk north or south of this centrally located resort. The hotel whilst it is not brand new it is probably 4 star. The service, from the reception, waiters in the restaurant, to the general staff throughout the resort, was fantastic, always very attentive and polite and we didn't have a single bad service experience. Breakfast was good, not 5 star standard but decent variety of food with subtle variations to cooked offerings daily and a chef to cook eggs to style. Gardens are really nice and well maintained.Pool area was sufficient for resort size and whilst people reserve lounges with towels/books etc we didn't notice anyone unable to find a lounge (we always did when needed). pool is good size and well looked after, the beach at the resort is probably the best on the island - if you stay further north (say 300m) there is little surf due to a reef but at Banana Fan the surf is consistantly good for swimming/body surfing. We didnt eat in the restaurant for dinner (prefer local restaurant dining) had some snacks at poolside - all very good. prices for food are reasonable eg. 200 Baht for Club sandwhich but is generally cheaper outside the hotel. Our room (Deluxe Bungalow - rook 406) was bigger than most - room sizes seem to vary a little. Room was clean and sufficient in size - shower was good and resort provide 3 bottles of complementary bottled water per day. The bed was terribly firm - but got used to that quickly and slept well. TV is provided but no DVD player in the rooms. No room is further than 50 meters from the restaurant/beach or the main road. The spa is located on the beach in a room under the pool area - it housed 6 beds in cool and well shaded room looking out to the beach. Staff were friendly oil massage 300 Baht for 1 hour. We definately stay at BananaFan again, is probably well pictched in terms of value for money.

The hotel has a good location - very central in the Chaweng beach area. The staff were very friendly and helpful - almost anticipating your wishes. The restaurant was good and the beach front was well looked after. The rooms were not too big but adequate (deluxe bungalow) and the terrace was lovely to relax. The pool area was big and well serviced. All in all, a satisfying experience.

We have just returned from Saui - 9 nights at this hotel.Have mostly positive things to say. Situation fantastic - best part of the beach. Can this this having stayed at Northern end of bech last year where the sea was ghastly. Couldn't believe that you are only allowed 1 key per room - extremely inconvenient & can see no resoning for this. The shower over the bath is dreadful - floods the bathroom with every shower - no idea who designed such a disater. Apart from that everything else was fantastic. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Would like to make special mention of Bond (pool man) and Go (restaurant waiter). They were fantastic. Would stay there again if they could manage to produce 2 keys per room. Although it was the rainy season we had about 30 mins of rain one day & a heavy downpour at night the night before we left. Couldn't have asked for better weather & I am a real sun-lover Jane from New Zealand

Considering this is classed as a 3* hotel it was far better than most 5* hotels we have stayed in on the island. We had adjoining pool view villas which we asked for and these were clean, great size double bed and well maintained daily. The resort was beautifully laid out, the pool was a good size for swimming and child friendly, and the beach area was one of the best around. The staff were very friendly, and the food great. The night entertainment didn't seem to attract many people but this is probably due to the fact that there is so much going on on the beach (great bars and restaurants). Would definately use this hotel again.

Definitely not the five star or even four star hotel. I stayed in the deluxe bungalow for 2 nights, Sun doesn't get into the room at all, the room was dark, old and very small. The price for the room is totally wrong. Room is not like the photo on the web. This was my second visit to samui having stayed 5 other resorts, it was the worst room with expensve price(5900baht per night). The food in the restaurant is just ok but much nicer ones in the main street or along side of the beach offering nicer food with cheaper price. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

We were very happy with the hotel, the rooms (we had two) were clean and well serviced. The staff are extremely friendly and very willing to be of service. We ate at the hotel most nights and the food was good value. The pool was clean and there were enough sun beds for all those who wished to be there. The only complaint would be directed at the number of Jetskis on Chaweng Beach, which we thought was an negative for the area, but of course the hotel has not say over this. We would recommend this resort to any one who is looking for a reasonble hotel on the beach in a good price bracket, there are fancier looking places, but at a lot more money.

We stayed at the Banana Fan for two nights and it was excellent value for money. Great location, good pool and breakfast. The staff were excellent and the level of service was of a high standard. We stayed at 5 star resort after banana fan and we were disappointed as their service was poor in comparison to Banana fan. We tried to book back in upon our return and unfortunately it was fully booked. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted good value for money.

We recommend this hotell to anyone. It was peaseful, and a very efficient, polite and co-operative staff. And there where guards in the area at all times. Rooms, pools and garden area was nice and clean. We where 8 people travelling together. Grandparents, children and grand children. We all enjoyed the hotell very much! BUT, there was big waves on the beach everday! To big for the children to go in the sea! (there where a red flag on beach everyday, but one out of 23) Also do not use the travel agency in the reception. The trip they vere supposed to organice for us did not suceed. The car never showed up to pick us up... But ask for Mr. Dom to organice trip around the Island.

This resort by far exceeded out expectations. On arrival you are truly greeted by what looks like a 5 star resort (but rated only 3). the staff are friendly and cater to your every request. the rooms are imaculate with supersized king beds. the breakfast is delicious, and the pool perfectly clean. the location is perfect with a 5 min walk into the hub of chaweng road. I would definetely stay here again without hesitation. truly a five star experience. Thankyou Banana Fan Sea for a perfect vacation.

we stayed at the hotel for 7 nights - we booked a beachfront villa - it was exceptional - literally right on the beach and with wonderful views of the gulf of Siam as promised by the hotel. the villa itself was very tastfully decorated in traditional Thai style and was quite large. we would highly recommend these beachfront rooms if you are after a fantastic view of the sea. the hotel staff were very helpful at all times. the restaraunt and other facilities were also fine - but we dined at 2 nearby restaraunts that are well worth visiting - Poppies 15 mins down the beach and Eat Sense which was right next door to the hotel - great Thai food. we would definitely stay at the banana fan sea hotel again carlos and kirsty

Terrific Resort. Clean...friendly staff...overall a relaxing place to stay. Will stay there again. The massage service on the beach was a bonus...at THB200 per hour! Great value. Good beach location. Food quality was ok...could be better. They have this silly system of only one key per room...so dificult when you are a couple...need to get staff to open room all the time, if your partner has the room key. Could improve there. Overall impression...fantastic and will stay there the next time in Koh Samui.

This hotel is adequate and the service level is okay. Our party occupied two rooms--one of which was just three steps from the lobby. In this room, you could hear all the lobby traffic. The rooms need some updating. If you can get a room at Buri Rasa Village, stay there. We enjoyed our rooms and the service at that hotel far more.

My family and I celebrated my 50th Birthday at the Banana Fansea, wew had a fabulous time. The Breakfast is superb, pancakes, waffles, asian food, bacon eggs, juices ect ect. The rooms were wonderful, huge bureas with a big and clean bathroom, individul Airconditioner in each suite, which is excellent. Beautiful Resort right on the Beach !!!!! The happy Hr is fantastic, great music, staff were wonderful, very attentive and gave us extra nuts with our drinks. Food is unbelievable, the restaurant is great and the Buffets are excellent. You can walk right along the beach day or night and its all happening and very relaxed with bars and food stalls all along the Beach.Definatley the nicest Resort, I looked at them all and swam in everyones pool. The Blue Lagoon is also a great Resort, a little further along, the beach is not as nice though. The Banana fansea's beach is clean and swimmable without any rubbish on the beach or in the water.

very nice hotel; with pleasant staff.Location on Chawaeng beeach is perfect. Pool is nice as well as the beach. Staff is helpful and is providing all your orders on the beach or on the pool. A lot of efforts done everyday to organise dinners with themes (thai, all you can eat, italian etc). Good breakfast with large choice (croissants, muffins, waffles, etc). Nice hotel, but the room fare is a little bit too expensive for what you get although again the location and the bach is stunning.

Overall the Banana Fan Sea resort is OK although the photos make it look much better than it is. The resort is long over due for refurbishment.Dryer did not work in bathroom. Staff are very unfriendly and resent any inquiry. The pool staff miss out on great opportunities. Not once did the come around with menus offering drinks or food. The breakfast was good and fresh with plenty to choose from. The rooms were kept clean. Just very out dated and poor service, staff are not aware of what makes a good experience for seasoned travelers. Staff verge on being rude especially front desk. I found it a 3 star experience and was expecting much more

Stayed 7 days in the beach front suite. The suite was very comfortable and we loved most the additional outdoor bed with a fantastic sea view. The pool was nice for kids, breakfast was rich and tasty but to get a good place in the breakfast area you need to come early or wait for a good place. The hotel is located on Koh Samui's crowded Chaweng Beach. It is definatley a very pictures sandy beach but if you are looking for a lonesome beach without dozens of jet skis other places are better.

This hotel was great.This is the 3rd place we have stayed in Samui and was definately the best.The staff were great and friendly,they would even make my wifes late coffee how she wanted it for breakfast before she asked.The room was just what we wanted, it was always nice and clean and had no problems with it.It had a good range of channels on tv for the morning it was really raining hard and we didnt go out..We could even use wireless internet in there.Good location and we had a great time.We will be back to stay there next time for sure.

I would have no problem recomending the banana fan sea to anyone else. I stayed in two five star hotels prior to my stay at BFS and BFS was comparable in quality location and service. The superior room is well equiped cool, and quiet at night. Also the location is excellent in that it is close enough to the boisterious chaweng strip but also close to some of the more pleasant bars and restuarants such as eat sense,betelnut and the green olive. There are certainly cheaper places to stay in Chaweng but based on my experience you get what you pay for. I tried to stay an addiional night at BFS but the place was booked up and I ended up staying down the road at the awful chaweng buri resort for my extra night which cost alsmost as much but was a complete rip of when compared to BFS.

We stayed in one of the Deluxe Bungalows. Overall this hotel was very good. Not the most luxurious hotel around, but definitely a great value for the money. The poolside areas look a bit older than it does in the photos but the rooms are still very nice and always clean, grounds are well manicured. The service was very good, particularly at the reception, housekeeping and the gardeners were great! Very polite always. Reception was very helpful with finding us a temporary room to stay in when we arrived too early to check in and had a flight that was late in the evening long after check out time. When we stayed here the hotel had quite a few children around, families and older guests. Not a place to go if you want a party or younger crowd, but very relaxing and quiet, even with the kids. Great massage place right on the beach and great margaritas from the hotel bar. The food at the poolside restaurant is also good from the a la carte menu. For the buffet, it may be worth it to pay a bit more to go somewhere else though it is not bad. I d skip the Cabaret show on Saturdays. As we stayed 10 nights, we thought the breakfast buffet could have had a bit more variation but still not bad. On a quieter end of Chaweng so it offers a good mix of shops, restaurants right outside without the noise and heavy traffic. Final suggestion would be for the hotel to put some screens on the door or windows so that you can let fresh air in the room without worry of mosquitoes. Overall, we had a very nice time and were happy with our decision to stay at Banana Fan.

Everything worked well and we had no problems at checkin. However, we were very disappointed that we were asked for more money after our initial deposit had already been paid. The service said they forgot to tell us there was an additional 1,000 BHT per night charge for Chinese New Year over what we had agreed upon. Eventually the charge was removed but this was still quite stressful to deal with and inappropriate.

However.....and this has nothing to do with Banana Fan who indeed did an effort to keep the beaches clean. We were amazed by how fast the beaches became dirty during the day...how come it is so difficult to use ashtrays for cigaret buds ? or bring your own can s, papers etc. to a more suitable place than on the beach....If this continues surely silly tourists will destroy the otherwise beautifull beaches of koh samui !

Banana Fan is a very nice resort-hotel,situated at the best part of the beach. Bungalows surrounded by tropical garden, palm trees and with a lovely atmosphere. Pool area with sea view and bungalows with spacious and clean rooms. Each room has a big veranda with nice furniture. All the staff were always very helpful and kind. Special thanks to the nice guy who always helped us with the umbrella at the beach and served us cool Singha -always with a smile! Clean and nice beach. We walked along the entire beach, in both directions, and we felt that we really had booked the best place at Chaweng Beach. A special thanks for the beautiful birthday cake at my birthday.

Stayed in room 323 which unfortunately is built over a swamp I am sure as we were biten alive. Bring bug spray and coils!!!!!!!! At first we thought it was bed bugs as both my husband and I were covered and contacted the management and they came and fumigated and offered us another room for the night which we took till they changed the bed etc We discovered it was actually mosquitos coming out of the cupboard floors, no one else at the resort had this problem so avoid this room even though it was near pool. The manager compensated by offering us a meal for two at the restaurant and a credit for the night as the room they gave us was on the road, avoid 500 block as well. Having said all that we enjoyed ourselves once this got sorted out, staff friendly enough and the rooms and pool very clean. Restaurant food very good. We would stay here again. One other thing should be noted is that the nightlife is virtually non existant. No music at bar in the evenings, the place shuts down at 800pm...and not only here but at all resorts this end of beach. We are 50 and it was even too quiet for us could use a little bit ambiance in the evening.

an amazing hotel.very clean,larg room.staff is outstanding.tour desk very efficient and helpfull.every thing is within walking distance.the beach is very clean but the sea this time of year is very high.if you go up north along chaweng beach you can find hotels with a lagoon-like beaches.but if you dont mind the sea-this is the best hotel to stay in.

We loved staying at the Banana Fan! At first we were overwhelmed by the hecticness of Chaweng Beach, but as soon as we pulled up to the Banana Fan, we knew that we had booked a great retreat from all of that craziness. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the waterfall and koy ponds make for a pleasant ambience. The pool is beautiful and sparkling clean. The rooms were clean and spacious (we had three people in our room and never felt cramped). The staff was friendly and accomodating. We stayed at the hotel during New Years--the party was great--a huge buffet. We even got to light those pretty lanterns and released them into the sky! We definitely recommend it!
