Unfortunately in my room number 603 was a broken air conditioner. It does not adjust the direction of air flow. And while sleeping cold air blowing directly at me. In the beginning I did not pay attention to it, but the result was ear diseases. I do not know how about other rooms, but staff should monitor the serviceability of equipment.

Great place on Lamai beach. Great value for the money. Recomended hotel both for couples and people traveling with children. The restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed at Lamai Wanta during part of our honey moon. We stayed in the Sea View Bungalow which really only has a view of all the tourist tanning by the pool. The bungalow itself was fair but it didn't even have a phone to call for room service, a kettle or complimentary coffee and you are constantly forced to turn the AC off when you go out as they welded the room key to the electrical card. it seemed that the grounds keeping was looking dated.. The grass was long, unkept and overgrown. Even though we were staying in one of the most expensive suites and on our honeymoon, when our wedding planner came to drop off our wedding video the front desk couldn't even find us in the computer. We wont be staying there again.

The best thing of the hotel: nice territory, not many people at the beach, very helpful stuff, DVD players in each room with DVDs available at the reception (helped during the raining days), breakfast is not bad although not great. The minuses: it is close to two very noisy bars. It is OK to sleep only if your room is at the first floor within the territory of the hotel, and does not face the beach or the street. Otherwise, you will be listening to the boomimg noise until at least 2 am. Recommendation to find a hotel a little bit farther to the right from the Lamai Wanta, it must be quiter, as the other hotels are a little bit farther away from the main street.

Good location with the pool right at the beach. The Bungalow is simple, we had a family chalet. Just beds, and one chair inside. The space outside did not have room for the family (5 persons) to sit outside together in the evening or if it was rain. The breakfast was ok, each person place their order. Sometimes if could take a little while to wait for the food. The food at the hotel was otherwise good, and I could recommend the dinner.

Отдыхали в отеле с 9 по 23 июля. По соотношению цена-качество, с моей точки зрения, один из лучших отелей на Ламае. Находится чуть в стороне от шумной улицы, но при этом всего 5 минутах хотьбы до всех кафешек, развлечений и т.д. Номера чистые, уютные, белье меняют каждый день, ухоженная и зеленая территория, шведский стол на завтрак, пляж в 1 минуте хотьбы от номера, персонал очень вежливый. Очень рекомендую.

OMG! that must be a Swedish Paradise, lots of Swedish ppl there, Hotel is very nice, stayed at room 167? just beach front Villa, perfect, clean and pretty, very nice breakfast buffet, i'll miss it! Pool should be bigger. The sea was messy and wavy the time I was there, everyone got awful oil spots in oir feet and shoes, becah itr is NOT clean, but the hotel itself its pretty and confy, you get dvd player in your room and can loan dvds from the reseption.Nice friendly staff, restaurant good. But I totally prefer Chaweng.

The hotel grounds, pool and restaurant were beautiful and kept quite clean! However, one side (door entry) of our room faced the town of Lamai, and it was terribly noisy EVERY NIGHT from about 9:30pm to about 2:30am. We heard blaring music every night from the club/band in Lamai. So if you want to sleep before 3am, don't get a room backing onto the town of Lamai!

We loved Lamai Wanta. Everything from the very competent and helpful staff, the interesting history behind the hotel and the beautiful scenery and romms. It's in the middle of touristy Lamai (but do take a taxi to the Lamai Temple and explore that area), Rooms are big, clean and are extremely well-kept, you can borrow free dvds in the reception (I know it's weird, but it's really smart sometimes) for the nights in, and there's free wifi everywhere (if they don't ask you, ask them).

Stayed here for 5 nights and was truely pleasantly surprised! The hotel's rooms, restaurant and location was perfect and great value for money. Stayed in a standard air con room which was better than expected! Overflow pool right on the beach and friendly staff. Many shops, bars and other restuarants just a few steps away from the hotel and many other beach bars on Lamai Beach. The beach has a good vibe with ample jet ski's available for hire. The resort is great. You are in 60 seconds at the beach/pool/restaurant. Also in 60 seconds in the central region (with or without night life). People are friendly, nice and help immediatly if there are problems. The receptionists, guards and room mates are very polite and fast. The restaurant personal could be a little bit more friendly (more smile) - they are maybe bored (many others wrote this also). It would be great if there is the possibility to cancel the american breakfast (always the same) and get a lower room price lets say for 100 baht (or a voucher). I think in high season there are not enough sunbeds. I stay in a deluxe room (between the shower and the toilete is a wall - very good - so you have no water mess after showering). Very clean and every day cleaning (towels, bed, wet room). Aircondition, Freezer, TV and DVD Player are functional. The room is basic but nothing else is needed (ok maybe a few more power outlets if you have many technical devices). I come back for sure... maybe next year? Only Buddha knows....

The Lamai Wanta's location can't be beat. The pool is almost right on the beach! The rooms were so so. Not much to them and they lacked anything sort of decoration. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is also located near a main street with tons of night life(although a lot of seedy night life) and excellent street food. I would recommend this hotel, but don't get your hopes up about the rooms.

I enjoyed my stay at the Lamai Wanta. It has a great location right on Lamai Beach and is just a couple of minutes walk to the centre of the Lamai shoping and restaurant strip. I was in a delux room which was well fitted out with the usual facilities and a room safe. It was located up stairs and had a pleasant balcony. There were no tea and coffee making facilities but when I enquired at the desk they provided me with and electric jug and two cups and saucers. The set breakfast was quite good. The restaurant is very pleasantly located next to the pool and beach. Meals are a little more expensive than some of the cheaper places in the town but the quality is better. There are around 80 sunlounges around the pool and always plenty available while I was there. I would certainly stay there again if I was coming to Samui.

My family, including our 2 sons (aged 5 and 8) and my mother-in-law, had a great stay for 11 nights at Lamai Wanta. We stayed in bungalows close by the pool and found it very convenient to simply spend most days going from the pool, down onto the beach (right next to the pool) to the restaurant and back for showers in the room. We thought the food was great - always fresh and the wait staff were very friendly. We ate most of our meals for 11 days at the restaurant and were never sick from salads etc and only just got to the end of the very extensive menu slection by our last day. The grilled salmon and the roast duck were highlights for us, along with the huge delicious breakfast provided with your room cost each morning. Lamai Wanta is one of the best on Lamai beach, in my opinion because it is one of the few with a pool on the beachfront but it is far enough away from the Thai nightlife that we did not hear it, but close enough to the shops (eg. 7/11 shops everywhere) for ice creams etc when we wanted them. We also hired a jeep in the street outside the entrance of the hotel for a reasonable price and went to the elephant park and held baby tigers etc and to the butterfly farm. I had read other peoples reviews on Lamai Wanta before we booked and I would disagree with a few things - Lamai Wanta provided us with an air conditioned mini bus from the airport at 10pm for a much better price 450 Bhat than we could have negotiated there at the time, so I would book this again. Also, we never found the pool too small - there was always room for everyone. We also went the Chaweng beach and it is a more shallow, pretty beach there, but busier and at thr time, had biting lice. Lamai beach is a steeper/deeper beach with cloudy water, but it was fine for us. We would ceratinly return again and we met other families there that come back each year or two.

I have been going to Koh Samui for about 10 years now and this was my first stay at Lamai Wanta on recommendation from a good friend that lives on the Island. What a fantastic hotel everything that you need. Very comfortable safe, clean rooms with an amazing restaurant right on the beach. The service is outstanding. The pool area is beautiful even when very busy. The included breakfasts are great. I would advise booking an deluxe room so you are not on the ground floor and have your own balcony, or even better book a beach bungalow for a bit more. Don't be turned off by the reception area that lacks the beauty of the lush gardens that surround the rooms. The location is amazing. Close to Lamai shopping, beach bars and restaurants, but hidden away from the Lamai noise and bustle. There is no hassle scooter booking just up the road. Make sure you take a photocopy of your passport that you can get at the hotel reception. We had an amazing stay and will return again next year.

Convenient location and beautiful garden. I stayed in one of the beach bungalows. Although I do not have any major complaints about Lamai Wanta, I think that I will try a different hotel on my next trip to Samui. The hotel staff were all very nice. One of the lights in my room went out, and a couple of times I needed an extra towel. Both matters were taken care of within a few minutes. However, considering that I was staying in one of the higher priced rooms, I was kind of surprised that they only provided two bath towels, a little bottle of soap, and a little bottle of shampoo. Especially since I had just come from a hotel in Pattaya, where I was paying half the price and got a toothbrush, shower cap for the girlfriend, hand towels etc. But no worries or complaints; just headed to one of the 7/11 and picked-up what I needed. As for the restaurant, I ordered some afternoon snacks while hanging out at the pool, and the servers were fine. But the early morning staff at breakfast really had an attitude problem.

I had a great time at the Lamai Wanta during June 2009. The hotel is very well kept and the gardens are beautiful. The delux room in the building was clean and good. I was there for 2 nights, and would stay more but in the low-season the Lamai area is very quite and boring - to those who travel to Samui for the night life it is better to stay in Chaweng. I looked for a similar hotel and deal on the Chaweng but nothing compared to this resort.

Sehr stylische Anlage, alles sehr sauber und modern (DVD-Player im Zimmer und Filme an der Rezeption), schönes und neues Badezimmer. Wir wollten eigentlich einen Bungalow buchen; leider schon ausgebucht. Waren dann in einem DeLuxe-Zimmer untergebracht und insgesamt auch sehr zufrieden damit. Das Hotel liegt sehr ruhig und direkt am Strand, trotzdem ist man nach ein paar Schritten im Zentrum (etwas ruhiger als Chaweng, aber immer noch ne Menge los). Toller Pool!

I arrived at night and was a little disappointed as I was shown the room (basic). The air con remote was not working but the hotel staff changed it within 10 mins. The next morning, as I was walking towards the restaurant for breakfast, I was greeted by the sound of waves and salty air, just what I needed! Loved that the resort is truly beach front! Loved the American breakfast with the orange juice, yum! I must say food was above average for a budget resort. Tried the phad tai noodles and it was the best I ve ever had. Eventually I fell in love with my room and would retreat to it whenever it rained (short spurts lasting less than an hour) and at night, watching movies on cable. Days were spent lounging at the poolside, reading and tanning. Resort was 5 mins walk away from main road and shopping area, there is a nice supermarket to pick up drinks, snacks and beer. I had a great time and left wondering what it would be like to stay in one of the beach front bungalows and wake up to the sound of roaring waves. Lovely resort and I would definitely stay there again.

The Lonelyplanet wasnt lying when they said this place is modernist spartan. The rooms are plain white and very simple. I think they should fix the various drywall cracks in room 303 though. It's a bit ungainly. Lamai Wanta was centrally located in Lamai close to the eateries and a decent stretch of beach. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget conscious place that's on a beachfront property. Downside: The wireless internet seemed laggy and my room's powerplug was intermittenly losing power for my laptop.

This is a really nice hotel/resort. Beautiful garden, near the beach, you can hear the sea day and night. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Good food. The rooms/bungalows are clean and tidy. Clean towels every day, free waterbottles every day. We booked a bungalow in advance for a few nights but we ended up staying 9 nights - we couldn't find a better place to stay. It's not far from shopping and nightlife just a few minutes away and yet you don't get disturbed at all. We have just come home but we miss the island and the resort very much allready. We can truly recommend this place!

Stayed at Lamai Wanta for 8 days over the new year 2008/09. I have nothing but praise for the staff and service. We arrive at Koh Samui airport at 2200 hours to our taxi driver which we asked Lamai Wanta to organise for us. After a speedy check in so late in the day we were shown straight to our ocean view bungalow. When we woke in the moring we saw they weren't lying. We had 1 of the 2 bungalows which looked directly over the infinity pool onto the ocean. The location is fantastic with a short 5 minute walk to he main street with all the bars, shopping and restaurants you could need, without being amongst the noise. We were a party of 3 and the set up included a 3rd bed with plenty of room. The bungalow was cleaned daily with new towels every day - one for the bathroom and one for the beach each. The pool was always clean and i saw the guys checking the pH on a daily basis. The tariff included breakfast up to 195Baht of your choice and also free Wi-Fi. We had our new years dinner there which was outstanding. I can't really find fault at all with Lamai Wanta. Any request was never a problem. I would return there anyday.

Lamai Wanta is a beautiful place. We highly recommend this hotel. It has a nice swimmingpool in front of the beacht. Breakfast was very good. We had a standard room and we loved it.

Very well positioned hotel next to the beach & in the centre of Lamai (though set back from the main street, so peaceful). Relaxed, laid back service - staff are there to help when needed but otherwise un-obtrusive. All facilities (a/c, hot water etc) worked fine. There are no telephones in the hotel rooms, which is not really a problem - the reception staff will make local calls for air flight confirmations etc on your behalf. Free in-room wi-fi facility a nice bonus, though signal was occasionally unavailable for an hour or so (probably during high demand by other occupants). I would definitely stay there again.
