Accommodation and facilities:
Unfortunately we discovered that there is ongoing building works next to the resort until July. We stayed for 2 hours, then were forced to leave as the peaceful atmosphere was totally ruined by the constant sound of hammering, electric saws, drills, etc.

Reservation service:
Apparently the hotel had not informed the booking agent about the building works, and they immediately visited the resort and offered a refund of our deposit promptly.

we love that small resort and stay here twice in the meanwhile. krys and his team care about their guests, always trying that you feel good. very clean (daily towels and bedlinen). great beach-situation (sunbeds/umbrella, totally quiet, enough space). located in meanam, without a bike it would have been too boring for us in the evening (bike to chaweng about 20 mins), only some restaurants in the surrounding. my wish for next year: coffee/tea-making-facilities ;O)

A delightful resort and very welcoming friendly staff. We had a very nice room right on the beach. It was beautiful. However the airconditing was not very effective. The mattresses, although looked new were not very comfortable and needed a mattress topper for more comfort. The bathrooms were in need of some refurbishment, although adequate. There appeared to be a problem with stray dogs on the beach and woke us up some mornings, fighting with other stray dogs. Having said all that it is a wonderful place to stay and would recommend it and would defintely stay there again.

Maenamburi is a small resort with lovely bungalows directly located at the beach of Maenam. The rooms are clean and well equipped with satellite TV, DVD-player and room safe. The stuff is very friendly and attentive, sometimes I had the impression that they can read our wishes from our lips, but they are not importunate. Kris the General Manager will look after you when ever you need an assistance. You should ask him for one of is fantastic self made cocktails… incredible good! There are a lot of lovely restaurants at the beach of Maenam and in the small town which you can reach in a few minutes walk (2-5 min.). But also the restaurant at Maenamburi is very delicious and not expensive. It’s a place where you can relax and recharge your battery, it is also a place for gentle tourism… I really hope this will last for a while! We really enjoyed our second stay and definitely go back.

It's a fantastic small place to relax and recharge the batteries. The rooms are clean and have a nice balcony where you can enjoy having a bier or more in the evening. There are a lot of different restaurants located at the beach or in the small town Maenam which is reachable in a few minutes walk only. Food is delicious and cheap. The stuff is great, they are friendly and very attentive, sometimes I had the impression they can read my wishes from my lips. We have been there the second time and will go back for sure!

All staff in resort very friendly, couldn't do enough to make stay pleasureable. Chris, manager took us to airport at end of stay for no extra charge and also willing to take you into other resorts during stay. Stayed in bungalow 3 with sea views. Room cleaned and bedding and towels changed every day. Individual safes in all bungalows which added to security. We liked it as it is only a small resort. Fact that there is no pool made no difference as the sea is only metres away. Resort only half full when we stayed so plenty of room on this stretch of beach though may struggle with number of sunbeds if all bungalows full. Restaurants and shops all very close by. If visiting Koh Samui again we would definitely stay at Maenamburi again and would gladly recommend this resort. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

This was our second stay at this hotel. We prefer the northern section of the island. It is quiet and not crowded. It was under new management and there was a noticeable improvement. Rooms were very clean and the staff friendly and competent. Fridge and DVD player in the room, good A/C. Endless warm water. Breakfast was good but, unfortunately, not included with the room. A little pricey but it was better than the other two places we tried. Plenty of restaurants nearby. The water visibility is poor but most of Samui is the same. Maybe it's the time of year, not sure. Much clearer water at neighboring islands, though. Chris, the new manager, has a good sense of humor and was very helpful. The housekeeping was topnotch. If we visit Samui again I hope they have a vacancy. The only knock on the place is; they should have a few more lounge chairs.

We enjoyed our stay at Maenamburi. Unlike many other touristic resorts, Maenamburi has very warm at home feeling. The staff was very nice and helpful and the Bungalow was very clean and cozy. The location was good, not too touristic and the beach was peaceful. We would highly recommend this, if you are looking for a reasonable priced relaxed place to stay. The in-house food was also good.

We stayed at a By The Beach Chalet for 7 nights and had a wonderful holiday. Very cosy bungalow, lush green and flower, and just few meters to the beach from the bed! Every morning, we woke up to the sound of birds singing and lapping of waves at the sandy beach. It was just the sort of holiday we needed. All the staff are kind and friendly. Especially, Kris, General Manager, is a person of warm hospitality. He is very very kind and helped us a lot. In fact, he gives compassionate cares to all the guests. One day, when the weather was not so good and the sea was little rough to swim, we saw Kris waving his hands at a Finnish little girl and her mother to come over to the juggzy of a vacant family villa(This newly built villa is fabulous!) to play there. At the same time, some of the staff cheerully ran after the girl with a float and toys. It was a touching sight. Unlike the noise and crowds in Chaweng Beach, Maenam beach is a quiet place but it is not an inconvenient place to stay. There are banks, Seven-Eleven, nice Italian Ristrante, Chinese restaurant, sport bar, and a seafood restaurant where you can dine with candle lights at the table directly placed on the beach. All these places are walking distance from the resort. We highly recommend Maenamburi Resort and will definitely go back soon!

We booked the room facing the sea. Yes, the accomodations are a bit small, but there you are...gazing out to the sea, right there on your bed. Dinner was a 5 minute stroll down the main drag, at a local restaurant for 40 Baht. Maenam Beach is quiet and local, just where we wanted to be.

We had four lovely days here. Rooms were very clean and modern. No tea coffee facilities which we love or pool but resturant and beach just outside door. We had rooms beach side which got sea breeze. Best part was we were looked after like we were kings. Run by a family, Kris or Kryno the manager at moment does a great job as do all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Great value for peak season and class of accommodation. Beach relatively quiet but Good on the beach resturants close at hand for variety without having to hit the traffic and mulitudes. You do not have to take the beachfront villa if not available to have a perfect feeling of being far away from your busy office and extremely close to the see. Both my parents and I stayed here, and we loved it. The rooms we nice, it was close to the beach and the staff we really good. The food in the restaurant was well priced and very tasty to. The manager was very helpful when asked questions on places to visit. Its placed near a town but just tucked away, so its nice and quiet. We would definatly go back..

This year we had our second (AND at least our third) stay at your location. The first stay last year was so nice with a bungalow directly on a beautiful swimable quiet beach. Nice staff & good food. The second stay in this year was very nice, too. The staff changed and is a very friendly and loveley crew and pays all attention to the guests. Futhermore there changed a lot of little things, like - nice calm music - moscito screens in bathroom - food that tastes delicious - not only a cup of coffee in the morning - no, a whole pot ! Very good ! Kris brought us to the lomprayha pier, because he had little time. This was sooo nice, because so we did not have to wait so long at the pier. There is no other choice than feeling so comfortable and relaxed. We loved it so much, that we decided to end up our time on Koh Phangan earlier to get back to Maenamburi for a few nights. Our flight back to bangkok was late at night, so we was in need of a very-late-check-out. No problem, they are so flexible an nice there. If you want to have a relaxed stay, away from the bustle of chaweng, we can recommend Maenamburi, absolutely !!!!! Can´t wait to come back again,...and again :DDD

Maenamburi is an excellent resort. We were extremely satisfied with our stay. The bungalows are very nice and clean. Maenam beach is quiet and beautiful, and it was very nice to lay there and have the hotel so close with the possibilty to easily get something to drink or eat. The hotel has a nice breakfast and lunch restaurant. The manager, Kris, is brilliant. He is very helpful and kind, and takes time to talk to the guests. He helped us with booking tours and all other things. The rest of the staff is also very friendly and helpful. We preferred to stay at the Maenam beach at daytime, away from the quite agressive salespersons at Chaweng. We usually took a taxi to Chaweng in the evening to visit restaurants and bars. (We paid 300-400 baht.) We also recommend to check out a restaurant by the main street close to the hotel called Twin restaurant (or something similar). Very nice prices and excellent food :)

The resort is ideal for those, who want to relax. It's very calm. Our bungalow was by the beach. Just some steps outside the bungalow and you re on the beach and a long walk on the beach at sunrise or sunset is unbeatable! Perfect for those in love. Staff and owner were very helpful and friendly. Things were arranged immediately by the manager Kris. Everything was clean and the service was perfect. Internet access and DVD-library are for free! The taxi-driver didn't know where it was and had to ask several times. Suppose, it's still an undiscovered resort. Good for us! I only can recommend this resort.

Just a wonderful place! We really enjoyed our stay here and most definitely will come back. The service was outstanding and the whole crew (cleaning, reception, kitchen, bar) in the resort was incredibly friendly. If you require any activity during your stay, the staff at the reception will help you with everything. The beach is quiet and clean, maybe the best in the whole island. You really don't need a pool when you re staying this close to the ocean. We stayed at the garden bungalow and still the ocean was only a few steps away. Two words: aivan loistava! (in English: just wonderful!) PS. Kris, keep up the good work!

It was so great!!! Nice tiny bungalows with very nice and helpful staff. For booking tours or getting information about koh samui you r welcome to ask the friendly guy at the front desk. The Maenam beach is in our opinion the best beach on koh samui. It is quiet, clean, good for swimming and you won't have a problem in finding gorgeous restaurants directly on the beach, starting tours around the island or to discover other destinations like the Angthong Marine National Park. We wouldn't hesitate to spend another holiday at Maenamburi Resort!

Fahre seit 10 Jahren nach Koh Samui und war zum ersten mal von der Unterbringung entäuscht.Die Räume waren dreckig.Das benutzte Toilettenpapier durfte nicht in die Kloschüssel geworfen werden,sondern in einen kleinen Korb.Andernfalls war die Leitung verstopft.Gegessen haben wir im Resort nicht ,dazu kann ich nichts sagen.Die vorher angezahlten Tage haben wir abgewohnt und sind dann in ein sehr schönes Resort umgezogen und haben den Resturlaub in Meanam genossen.

Das Ganze hat gut geklappt,aber ich würde höchstens 2 Übernachtungen anzahlen.

We stayed here on our honeymoon. Good location; easy to travel to Chaweng, yet away from the noise. Restaurant did not have many choices, however, a quick walk down the beach in either direction provided an assortment of dining options. Great beach for relaxing and getting some sun, although the water was murky. You needed to be up early and grab some chairs, as there weren't enough and some of the guests took to claiming them for the day!!!Staff were polite, and friendly. The room was clean, spacious and included a/c, tv, fridge and dvd player. Although still a bit overpriced.

Very, very nice resort. We booked for 4 days,but stayed 6. No nightlife, and if you want some - book another resort. Great management and great staff! This is one of Thailands best unknown secrets - and we will keep it that way. Do not tell anyone about this resort!! We will soon book for january 2009!

Very nice little place. Quiet, out of the way and nice beach access. Homey and decent Thai food. If you don't like dogs, be forewarned that there were two (very friendly, mind you) mutts hanging out on the property. Bathroom was a bit stinky. cleaning service excellent.

No problems whatsoever. Quick and courteous. However, it seems that upon arrival that many of the places that appeared as booked were in fact available.

We had one of the nice beach bungalows No. 2. Room itself was nice and wonderful view on the sea. Bathroom not that nice, but ok. Service staff was always willed to do things good and fast. Booked beachfront four weeks in front of arrival, but unfortunately we had to stay for a night in another bungalow there - because the chief gave the beachfront to others. Nice or ? Why making a reservation, when u don´t get the room ? Well overall it was a nice stay because the beachbungalow is really right on the beach with a fantastic view on Koh Phangan. Breakfast was standard and same everyday.

Ein sehr schönes Resort mit netten kleinen Bungalows, zewckmässig eingerichtets udn sehr sauber. Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Die Gartenbungalows haben die meiste Privatsphäre, die aber derzeit leider durch Baulärm gestört wurde. Zum Frühstück unbedingt Banana-Pancake bestellen, auch die Yoghurt-Lassis sind unschlagbar!!!!

We were not picked by from Airport and on arrival by taxi we were not received in a very friendly manner. The fact that the staff didn't speak english very well didn't help. The beach side bungalow was ok with a nice view. We had a good rest, as there was little to do in Maenam, as expected.

Schöne Anlage. Sauberer Beach. Sehr nette Staff. Sehr gute Küche !! Lek, die Köchin kocht super !! Wir waren sehr zufrieden und werden 2008 wieder dort wohnen. Einziger Mangel war im Room 14 die zu laute Aircon. Aber wir konnten schnell das Zimmer wechseln. Dort war es OK.

lovley place- rently red one- so VERY clean and hiospitable- beds very hard which for me was problem. I wish tehy could offer bed pads so as not so very hard.- but other than that we really loved it.Very friendly & helpful staff. SO QUIET! and lovley swimming just steps away in deep, clear ocean. Moved to Baan Fah next door for 2 nights which was a disaster- filthy, lousy & rude service and quite a disgusting smelly room. It should not even be listed by SiameServices

If you can't get one of the two beach bungalos the garden bungalos are next best. Clean towels daily and rooms cleaned. Great A/C, plenty of hot water, and the DVD with library is a nice touch. Breakfast was okay but not great. Water was good for swimming but poor visability. I think the rest of the island is the same, although, we had about 10 meters visability on a snorkeling trip to another island. All in all, the place grew on me. Quiet and relaxing. Walking distance to town and good restaurants. It is not a bad place for the price. The staff was friendly and accommadating. Our last day was not so great. We arose at 0445 for an early flight and had no water for showering or flushing. Then the taxi driver charged 300 Baht(10USD)for the trip to the airport that was supposed to be free, then stiffed me further by not having correct change for a 500 baht bill.

Maenamburi is a very nice resort and excellent value for money. Breakfast was included as well, which we didn't realise when we booked, also free DVD hire and Internet access. There are only two Villas on the beach and we had booked one of them. When we arrived we were told there was a hole in the roof and we would have to spend the first night in one of the other villas. It isn't a matter of cost, so even if they had offered a reduced price (which they didn t), it wouldn't have been satisfactory. When we informed them it was our honeymoon, we were told they would have the hole fixed by 5pm. We sat on the beach and watched two cleaners make up and clean the room, so it appears the hole in the roof wasn't true. It was nicer than we expected which is always a plus point. One of the receptionists was absolutely lovely, but unfortunately on departure, the other receptionist thought it would be a good idea to rip us off with taxi fares! 750 Baht for three of us to go to our next stop Lamai Beach. It would cost less in a London cab. Maenamburi is a quiet resort, with some lovely restaurants along the beach. Unfortunately it was full of sunbed savers, so after an hour of being in the shade of a coconut tree, we decided to move their towels and beach bags, which as it happened didn't matter, because they finally returned over five hours later! Overall the hotel was excellent value for money and being small was a lovely environment. We wish we had one more night there and one less in Bangkok.

No problem, although the owner did give me a bit of attitude when he realised I had reserved a room on his Website (to which he didn't reply for a few days), and in the meantime had booked with SiameServices.com. I didn't want to hang around because we had already lost another hotel we wanted in Lamai. I can see his point and felt sorry for him having to pay the high commission, but felt he was unfair to be like that.

Great! We had an excellent time, the place was clean, the people super nice, the food was great in the restaurant. The free wireless internet was a nice touch as well. I hope to come back one day soon. Only space for improvement, and maybe it was my misunderstanding, was that I was never e mailed to confim the reservation (only after the initial deposit; a second deposit was apparently not required, but i never recieved a voucher or anything). As it turned out, I called from Bangkok and all was well, but they had me a bit worried.

When we finally moved into our on the beach-bungalow 3 nights late (!! - but a discount was easily negotiated), our stay was everything we could wish for! Maenamburi is very quiet (loved that!), quite clean and friendly - apparently German owned. There are nice restaurants just next door and fine everyday-shopping possibilities just up the road. Do not miss the fabolous (and very cheap) bliss u day spa on the way from Maenamburi to the main road. Our children aged 3½ and 6 loved the golden sanded beach and the sea which is fine for swimming (no snorkling - no visibility). The beach is cleaned every day by the personel. Taxi to Chaweng costs 300-350 bath per way. We definately recommend Maenamburi to travellers both with and without children.

Small and sort of cute place. The shabbyish style came as a slight surprise compared to the photographs, but once you are there it doesn't really matter, because everybody is friendly and things run even if they may run slowly. During our stay the clientele was dominated by german and dutch older people and thus the only chance of having a sunbed was to wake up 6.30 and reserve one with your towel :-), for there is a scarcity of sunbeds compared to the amount of guests (the owner had purchased more sunbeds but the problem remains). The rooms are small but clean, although cleaning was at some spots a bit sloppy. Our bathroom sink, for example, we had to wipe ourselves since the maids did not seem to care to do it. Feels like home? Beware of overbooking, during our stay several guests were offered something less than they had a reservation for.

Good bungalow and good location, because I visited Koh Tao on the next day, the resort location is closed to the pier, so I need not to wake up earily to catch the pick-up service to pier. Although I stay one night only, the lady of reception is very friendly and helpful.

Nice small scale resort. Rooms were ok, although on our second stay, the roof started to leak. We got a new room quickly though. In the garden, the bungalows are newer and have nicer bathrooms. Breakfast is quite simple, but we didn't feel like we would have needed anything more. Maenam Beach is truly quieter than Chaweng for example. So if you want to get away from the crowds of the Chaweng Beach, this is one option. On the other hand, not much action around here. There are some nice restaurants in Maenam village and you will more in nearby Bophut (Fisherman's village is full of restaurants). The place has a family-run feeling, and the staff tried their best to help us with our needs.
