What an amazing resort! I could not have asked for a better place to stay. from the hotel transfer to the breakfast to hiring a scooter to getting a day trip organized the receptionist Nat was a great help. I will definately be back. The location is perfect and quiet.

We enjoy our visit to Thongtakian Resort. It is a quiet family resort with a small beach and great swimming. Not far from Tesco (5 min. by motobyc). The staff is very friendly and helpful. We only booked a basic garden bungalow, not fantastic but good value for money and just on the beach.

Hi - we arrived in the middle of the night and the guy couldn't find our booking so just put us up in one of the most expensive units (which I had booked) for the night. The next day they still couldn't find our booking but told us to just choose which type of accomodation we would like to stay in and for our daughter and son in law as well. We choose the cheaper beach huts - they weren't as nice inside but in a great spot close to the beach and bar we had a great stay. The people were really friendly - nice quite spot off the main hub with it's own bit of paradise. Would reccomend.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Thongtakian resort. The staff were efficient and really friendly and went out of their way to help us with our sightseeing. It is a quiet family resort with a small beach and great swimming. Quality of the rooms varies, our fist room was much more comfortable than the second. Would return if possible.

The room is just like its description. Very close to the sea. The food is so so. I d recommend you go to the cliff which is 2 mins by moto to have dinner. I check out at 6:30 and not able to have breakfast which started at 7. This makes me feel a bit disappointed. Excepted this, the accommodation is a nice experience.

I found Thongtakian resort to be excellent value for money. The Garden Bungalow room was serviced daily and the room very clean. Although the beach was very rocky the pool was very pleasant. I would not hesitate to stay here again and I would recommend the resort to other travellers.

The hotel has a wonderful location, with a really quiet well maintained beach, far enough away from the madness of Cheweng. The pool is only small, but it was lovely for a dip and often very quiet. The hotel room was lovely (it was a superior room) and had free wireless internet. The hotel staff were very friendly and would try and help in any way possible. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a quiet relaxing holiday.

Ottima la posizione su una piccola spiaggia senza confusione ma comunque vicina sia a Chaweng che Lamai. My husband and I stayed at Thongtakian Resort for a wonderfully peaceful week. Our unit was clean and the bathroom was sufficient with an amazing shower. The resort is in an enclosed bay which ensures that it is quiet and is suitable for families. The sea in the bay is unfortunately rocky but is very pleasant during high tide. The personnel of Thongtakian Resort were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed sitting at the dining/bar area overlooking the white beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is a decent little resort on a quiet beach. We stayed in a pool side deluxe room which was quite big and had a great balcony for sitting out on. It was a shame it wasn't directly on the beach but that's the deal at all places on Thong Takien. The Thai food the restaurant was OK - tasty but made for tourists. If you are a Thai food fan you'll need to go further afield to get more authentic food. Having said that the beachside setting and friendly staff still make for a decent option. Breakfasts are rarely great in Thailand and this place doesn't break that exception. They make a decent effort with the buffet and it beats places that just offer the American Breakfast plate but there wasn't anything too appetising for my tastes. There was a random dish of the day which provided amusement but I m not really into tuna sandwiches, macaroni cheese or spaghetti bolognese for breakfast! Truth is a simple bowl of rice/noodle soup or some crab fried rice would have been preferred but I guess this place is all about the assumptions of what westerners want so that wasn't going to happen. The beach is nice but there was a lot of construction work going on at both ends while we were there. That's the luck of the draw in Thailand and the sound of angle grinders is not uncommon. Big JCB diggers on the beach was a new one for me though! Unfortunately, the resort is on a busy road. Noise wasn't a problem in our room, or on the beach, but the main ring round around Samui is a pretty busy and standing there waiting for transport in the heat is not my idea of a tropical paradise. We found ourselves in this position quite frequently in order to get to other beaches to escape the construction work, find proper Thai food and visit beaches where we could swim properly. The only other slight issue we had was being charged 200 Baht for a broken shampoo bottle. I know that in Thailand if you break or damage something you will pay, and usually over the odds, but given the amount we spent here during our week I would have hoped for a little latitude. Anyway, this is a good little family friendly resort on a nice beach. The receptionist is very helpful and has a great sense of fun. We do recommend this place if you can live with the few issues highlight here.

the hotel is located at the beginning of Lamai beach. the private beach was not too much of a treat as it was very rocky! it was almost impossible to swim there. we rented a bike, and there on, it was as easy as was possible. everything was close by, shops, lamai beach, chaweng. we even went on a sightseeing tour of the island on the bike. the hotel staff, and especially Nat, was a delight! alwyas smiling,they were happy to help and even willingly lent us an umbrella as it was raining in the evening. the breakfast was a treat in itself! so many options, and all so tasty! we were overwhelmed by the very sight of it the 1st day. will definitely come back here if we are ever again on this island.

Located on a small but pretty bay area. Standard room simple but clean which was serviced daily. Simple but tasty breakfast overlooks a small pool area. About a 30 minute walk to Lamai Beach, scooter would be idea for this area. Minimart just down the road and a few restaurants otherwise not much else. If you want a peaceful few days this is a lovely stop over location. Enjoyed my stay and the friendly staff.

The hotel is small, but very nice and cosy. There is no good entrance in the sea: a lot of sharp stones and corals. Good for snorkeling, but not very convenient for swimming. Impossible to swim without spesial shoes. The regular guest said that it was much better last years. Very good massage on the beach.

The room we stayed has limited space but it's ok as we were out for tour all day. Things in the room are quite old (depend on the room you book). However, the towel, blanket, and bed sheet are clean. Nice resort near the tranquil beach, you can see the fishes & crabs swimming in the shallow beach. Good food, good service, good location. Massage on the beach was also good and reasonable price.

Всебыло на высоте, мы как раз попали на Самуи в момент наводнения, так в отеле всегда было электричество и интернет (в отличие от многих окружающих) и вооще жизнь не прерывалась ни на минуту, а это очень важно в условиях стихийного бедствия. много отелей предлагают хорошиеусловия, но проверяется кчество менно в беде)) и когда наладилось пляж от мусора они тоже убрали быстрее всех соседей)) в общем народ люит и умеет работать)) всячески рекомендую!!

Situé sur la Silver Beach, une jolie petite plage. Le restaurant sur la plage est très agréable, on y mange bien pour pas cher, le personnel est très gentil , agréable et serviable. Pour ce qui est des chambres, elles sont propres, pas très grandes . Les salles de bains pourraient être améliorées. Pas de coffre dans les chambres (du moins dans les bungalows).Petits déjeuners un peu juste dans le choix. Bon hotel pour passer des vacances relax, sans chichi.

We checked in to Tongtakian resort as we loved the small stretch of beach witch was magnificent. The resort is right on the beach witch is great with kids. The rooms were below expectation in regards to the bathroom - was very low standard and a bit smelly... Breakfast was standard but value for money. Staff were mostly kind and smily. Restaurant had a diverse menu and the food was tasty.

The booking service was good, although - i booked an extra baby cot for our room and payed for it, but when we arrived there were no cots available for an extra cot. The manager told me they keep only 3 cots in the resort, witch is rediciluos for the amount of kids that are there.

This was our third trip previously we had stayed at the northern end of Chaweng Beach. This time we stayed on Samui for 8 nights splitting our time between Thongtakian Resort and another in Maenam. We had a delightful 4 days despite the unseasonal Samui weather. We requested an upstairs room which overlooked the lovely pool. The room was clean & breakfast was lovely. We ate at the resort several times food was always good and very reasonable.Great inexpensive massage on the beach. It was easy to get a songtaew to go to Lamai or Chaweng but night time return to Thongtakian beach is more expensive. If you want to relax this is the place to do it. We will be back & in hindsight would have stayed the whole time at Thongtakian resort.

Nat, the front desk agent, was SO helpful and friendly. She scheduled tours for us, minibus rides, and jeep rental. She stored our bags for us when we went overnight to Angthong Island. We just can't say enough about how helpful and pleasant she is. The staff at the restaurant both on the beach and at the breakfast buffer were also amazing, as well as the food. The beds and pillows were hard; it would be nice to have lounge chairs on the beach. Thongtakian is a great value for the money. They also do a good job keeping the resort free from vendors. When a monk came by soliciting money, they paid him and asked him to leave without making a big scene and disturbing the guests, but they wanted to keep their guests free from vendors and solicitations. It's a great place.

Directly on the best beach, no salesmen there:)we got nice standardrooms right outside the little but beautiful, clean pool. God food and very friendly staff and god service on the hotel.Eksotic garden/pool area.Later, we got the famely supirror room(best in hotel) great:)Peaceful hotel, god for famelys. We booked 10 days in standardrooms and desided to stay in this hotel all 3 weeks. We traveled with 2 children(7 and 11 years old. It is cheap to sail to Koh Tao(snorkling and diving), Phuket, krabi and many other islands from Koh Samui.

Nice Secluded Bay away from some of the brash areas of ko Samui good resort on the beach and good value would stay again, one word of warning the coffee machine in the breakfast room gave me a nasty electric shock the base plate is live!!!! and the spoon on the saucer made contact with the base plate could have been very nasty so take care not to touch it

This was a realy great experience, the staff where fantastic and the room was fine. It's not a luxury 5 star, but if you are happy with a clean room, nice little pool, great staff and good bar/snacks then its great. The bathroom could do with some improvement as the shower is just attached to a wall there is no proper shower cubicle or curtain or anything so the water goes everywhere! but apart from that this resort is pretty good.

I stayed at the resort for 6 days with my two teenage children. It was perfect...quiet, somewhat secluded, away from the drunken crowds. The beach is gorgeous, and the staff very friendly. Recommend renting scooters from the resort (only 200BT per day) to ease transportation. The massages on the beach are as inexpensive as you will find on Samui, and the food at the restaurant is good. The breakfast is okay, american/european style but the same every day. Friendly staff and ideally situated between the two major beaches on the island. Would stay here again.

Thongtakian Resort is a gem of a find right on a quiet peaceful beach- a rarity in Koh Samui. Yes, the rooms are minimalist, but please do not interpret this to be simple, or run-down. Quite the contrary. You will enjoy your stay. The food at the resort as well as the few others on this beach are just fine, but for a more authentic feel, just turn left out of the resort onto the highway and walk no more than 100 meters to Baan Lamai. Wonderful Thai food for much lower prices and great service to boot.

We had a lovely 8 night stay, the resort is very well situated between Lamai and Chaweng, great beach, nice and quiet, quite alot of Russians and ex USSR guests, the older ones were ok, the younger ones a bit miserable obnoxious as most East Europeans, but did not spoil it, Che was great on reception. If you like Italian / steaks go to Dr Frogs 1 km from the resort, lovely, resort restaurant was good too, nice cocktails and service very good, spotlessly clean and well kempt. Были на Самуи 12-21 августа 2010 г. с ребенком 5 лет. Большое спасибо Антону! Все организовано хорошо, никаких сбоев. Море - теплейшее, купались до ночи. Песочек - белый, мелкий. В нашей красивой бухточке было тихо, водных развлечений не было, народу мало, чего мы и хотели. Немного некомфортный вход в море во время отлива, так как периодически попадались камни с ракушками, которые сильно режутся (нужно их обходить, или переплывать). Но это надо было только сразу понять, потом привыкли. Ребенку было хорошо, так как ближе к берегу - камней не было. Территория отеля нам понравилась, персонал очень доброжелательный, спокойный. Номера - не очень, мебель старая, в шкафах - неприятно пахнет (мы вещи в них не клали). Но главное - кондиционер работал хорошо, кровать удобная, белье и единственное полотенце меняли ежедневно, мошкары - нет и отель - недорогой. Рядом - Yacht Club - мы ходили туда гулять, очень красивая территория, множество водоемов с разными рыбками, много разной растительности, цветов, интересных оформлений. Обедали и ужинали в ресторане у пляжа в нашем и в Yacht Club - можно выбрать еду на любой вкус и недорого. Завтрак был в отеле, однообразный - сосиски, гарнир, блины, йогурты, яйца, тосты, бананы, ананасы, арбузы.

Thongtakian was really a great choice for us.Its quiet, very nice, right on the beach. Best for couples or young families, but also we (3 young men:) ) found what we were looking for. Staff was absolutely perfect, especially Nat, the receptionist was very helpful, wonderful lady, always with a warm smile on face. Thank You very much for taking care of us. We will come again for sure...

Great little resort situated on a beautiful little beach (no beach sellers) between Chaweng and Lamai. Probably the only place I would return to when visiting Samui. Friendly, family run resort with small, but adequate pool - emphasis is on the beach and beautiful, clear water. There are a few rocks around, so if with small children take beach shoes. Our room was a good size with TV and fridge, lacking a kettle though which would have been good. We used the small sofa as an extra bed for our 4 year old. Only complaint is the hard beds, really need to change them soon. Breakfast was adequate with the usual offerings of cereal, toast, eggs, ham, bacon, fried rice, juice etc. Lamai is about 5 minutes drive away and can be reached by local Songthaew for cheap eats and entertainment. Also a large Tesco Lotus supermarket for cheap snacks etc. Overall a quiet resort with a private feel, not in your face.

got to be one of the best value-for-money resorts on the island. good food, friendly staff and amiable owner (son).would really only need to work on some details in order to be absolutely top, like for example no dogs allowed in the kitchen and better control of flies, which can be a real pest during meals. great beach, quite beautiful corals.. will be back!Ernst, Jean & Kimberly.

This a great resort. The rooms are very simple, nothing elegant, but clean and well kept. Service is excellent and the location is great. It is on a quiet beach, great for kids and snorkeling. There is a very nice small pool that is also great for kids. Wonderful buffet breakfast too. We will definitely be going back.

Sehr schöne gepflegte Anlage. Sehr guter Service vor Ort. Frühstück ist einfach aber ok. Ruhiger Sandstrand mit eingen Steinen/Felsen auf der Südseite. Zum Trubel nach Chaweng und Lamei kommt man proplemlos mit den Sammeltaxis für ca 50 Batt pro Person. Die fahren abends alle 5 Minuten vorbei.

Thongtakian Resort was one of the many highlights during our trip. Che and his staff have created a piece of heaven on earth, this is a high class resort at mid range prices with Excellent service, Stunning location, superb food, staff that were always happy and more than happy to go that extra mile. 10 out of 10 in every respect. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to anybody, Thongtakian resort is suitable for families, older travellers and young people alike. For the younger travellers please remember that this is a class resort and that party central is only minutes away, so treat the resort and fellow traveller with the respect that it deserves and everyone will have an excellent time. I am sure that there are equally as good resorts all over Koh Samui. When I return to Koh Samui, Thongtakian Resort is the only place that I will be staying, it was quite honestly that good. it was very hard to choose resort from all the resorts on Samui, all looked very nice. I choose Thongtakian, becouse of the private beach and very nice restaurant on the beach. I was very happy about my decision. The beach was lovely, quiet and save for swimming. Breakfast was very nice, everyone could find, what he likes. Staff was very friendly. Sea side bungalow was very nice, with basic furniture and airco. WIll come definately back soon!!!

Stayed in a standard room which was fairly basic but that was what was expected (bed, arir con, fridge, TV, shower). Resort has little atmosphere though & even though it was peak season there was hadly anyone around (staff included) & the bar & restaurant both closed very early. Beach was beautiful though & it's easy to get out & about by hiring a scooter or picking up a local taxi to Chaweng or Lamai.

Really relaxing, quiet and pleasant location, away from the crowds and noise, but not too remote. Lovely sandy beach, but very shallow at low tide. We spent 18 night at The Thongtakian Resort and had the most wonderful time. The first few nights we stayed in a beach front bungalow, a bit small for 4 persons but perfectlly situated just by the beach. But as the Monsun hit the island and staying by the beach was not so nice anymore, we were offered to move to a room in the main complex instead. The room had sea view and was larger and also higher standard so we were very happy to move! We are very very pleased with our stay and will most certainly come back some day. Magnificent beach, great service and great food. Also we would like to send our very best to Nat! She is the wonderful lady at the reception, always with a smile on her face, and always ready to assist you with everything you might need. I d also like to recommend the beach massage just by the Thongtakian beach restaurant. They are very nice and very good! All our best from family Walldén-Fridsjo from Sweden

We stayed in the standard room, which at first, seemed very basic for the price. However, as we awoke fresh in the morning and took in the surroundings, the room grew on us. By that evening, even the room looked very nice! Our friend commented that the bed was really comfortable. The beach is awesome. The only drawback was that the hotel was a bit away from the nightlife of Chaweng Beach. Not far at all if you re riding a taxi, but a bit dangerous if driving back in a small scooter, drunk! For those who want to get away from the crowds, this is the place.

It's been a very pleasant surprise. Despite our chaotic arrival and our first night spent on the beach as we arrived in the middle of the night due to a plane crash, so obviously the reception was closed. Our whole journey was nice, mainly thanks to the hotel, its comodity and location. The staff was friendly and careful. I would say the hotel is one of the best on the island (I have visited a few others) considering it is situated on an almost private beach with nice clear water and clean sand shared with 4 other hotels. A lot of tourists would come there as their hotel was placed on a polluted beach, even the so-called 4/5 stars hotels where you pay 23000baht a night, from what I ve seen. The hotel also offers a nice pool, big enough for adults to refresh, and for kids to play safely, what I really really loved was the garden so well looked after and showing absolutely nice flowers. I was going to forget the restaurant on the beach which offers delicious dishes for very cheap, the best on this beach, according to my culinary taste. The bedroom, was ok, very clean with linen changed every day and air-conditioning, but I would modernize it a bit.If I ever go back to Koh-Samui I would definitely go back to Thongtakian Resort.

Very pleasant stay! We were in a seaside bungalow; the standard was decent enough (even though the poolside rooms looked newer) and the bungalow is right by the water. The food in the restaurant is excellent and very cheap - perhaps breakfast is a bit uninspired, but it gets the job done. The beach itself is beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. One word of warning, though: there are plenty of dogs here! They re usually just a nuisance, they beg at the tables or want to play - but there's at least one big fight every day where they growl, snarl, bite, and just battle it out right on the beach. A lot of guests were scared and if you re afraid of dogs then perhaps you should go elsewhere. The problem isn't exclusive to Thongtakian Resort, all the hotels on the beach seem to have their own stray dogs. At one time there were eight of them running around and the beach really is quite small. So beware.

We had a wedding booked in Chaweng and needed a place for us and our guests to relax and unwind and found Thongtakian the perfect little place for us. We had 20 people stay and with the wine glass bay, the bar/restaurant by the beach, clean and comfortable rooms we all had a fantastic time. We left the hotel for 3 nights to hit the full moon party and couldn't wait to come back to the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere of this resort for an extended stay. I would and have recommended Thongtakian to friends and all who will listen. I'll be back!

Nice resort at the beautiful Thongtakian Bay! The beach is lovely, not very good for swimming because its quite shallow, even at high tide. But its perfect for kids! The bungalows are very simple and get cleaned every day. Nice little pool. Watt, the receptionist is gorgeous! Helps whenever he can! Service in the restaurant is sometimes slow and not very friendly. Altogether a nice place, possibly a bit overpriced.

The resort and location were great! The oceanfront bungalow was clean and affordable, and the front office staff was especially great. The bunglow however could really use something on the walls to give it some needed charm. Location on Samui is ideal, being just between both Chaweng and Lamai beaches, and is really intimate and quiet in the evenings. Will probably stay there again.
