Utopia Suites is located on Mae Haad, offers outstanding value in accommodation on Koh Tao. One bedroom apartments with kitchen and living room facing a white sandy beach overlooking native fishing boats in crystal clear waters or one of our rooms in the recently opened Utopia. The Apartments with ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room areas, 50 Channel satellite TV, kitchenette with microwave, electric coffee and tea kettle and fridge with mini-bar and hot water. When i walked up to the place i see 2 women sitting there being bored. I tell them i made a reservation and they say what is the booking number. I tell them it is in my notebook and they need a printout and both point me to the nearest internetshop. Not a friendy or helpful start! The room was ok except that the window could not be closed and the bathroom had no ventilation.

The hotel is located next to the busiest pier on the island, which means there are tons of boats docked and constantly moving about. Although we had a nice little piece of beach, the constant noise was quite disturbing. The rooms ended up being more expensive than advertised, and after paying an arm and a leg, there was no water pressure for showers and sinks during the duration of our stay. These are not bungalows, as advertised, but hotel-style suites. Although the rooms are quite nice, overall, we will not be staying there again nor would I recommend Utopia to my friends.

Very convenient location, about 3min walk from Pier. Motor rent and travel agent next door, 2 steps to supermarkets and Massage places etc. Family style decoration, homelike facilities, smiling and helpful staff. The Mrs. is welcoming and admirable. I was ill and cannot take care of my 2 baby sisters, so she invited them for family dinner, they had a GREAT time with her family!!! I really appreciate her hospitality! Memory of staying there is cherished.

Staff almost couldn't understand english and the manager was a bit rude. Check out time is at 11AM, which you just can't see in Thailand. No late check out possible. We chose this hotel for its proximity to the ferry terminal, intending to stay anight or two. Well we wound up staying 7 delightfull days. We weren't impressed by our visit here. The room was over-priced, apparently double what it used to be but they hadn't renovated to justify the price increase. When we checked in the lady immediately tried to get us to upgrade our room and seemed eager to get more money from us. When we got to our room there was a dead cockroach on the floor and within the first 5 minutes the power went off for a while, without explanation, before suddenly coming back on. The place advertises it has wireless in all the rooms which is not true - it's only in the reception area. We found a better place down the road for half the price and decided to stay there the second night and told the lady on the first night that we were going to change. When we checked out the next day the lady was very impolite.

The hotel is very close to the pier. Unless you have alot of luggage, dont let the taxi drivers con you into them driving you because you can just walk out of the building at the pier and turn right and it is a couple minute walk. The hotel itself is basic, but clean. The a/c worked and the water eventually got hot. The best part of the hotel is the ownership (European owned) and mngmt. I felt they were very honest and you will feel at home there. Honestly the best place to be on the island is Sairee beach, but I have no complaints about this hotel.

Fantastic value for money.We had a familysuit with a rooftop terrace and the apartment was even better than it looked on the pictures. Clean and perfect, and the highlight of our stay on Koh Tao. The island itself didn´t live up to our expectations, mostly because of the traffic-noise from mopeds, cars and longtailboats that makes you feel like your in Bangkok rather than on a remote paradise-island . Even though Utopia is situatad at the end of the village and right on the beach there is no tranquility. Taxi-drivers rip you off to take you to a beach on the other side of the island and most of the interesting parts of the coastline are covered with private bungalows and resorts and that makes it less fun to go kajaking or walking. Koh Tao could have been paradise if there had been some planning and respect for nature and peoples needs for a peaceful and healthy surrounding, but now it isn´t.

Stayed at guesthouse at Utopia Suites. The location is great, the restaurant among the best on the island and overall the service at Utopia is very very good. The rooms at the guesthouse are among the more expensive on Koh Tao, but you get great service and location for that price and I thought the hotel was definately worth the price. I would recommend Utopia to anyone not on a backpacker-budget and stay there again if/when I return to Koh Tao.

Utopia Suites
Accommodation and facilities:
Nice and cosy hotel with a friendly atmosphere. Very clean and spacious rooms.Small restaurant serving good thai-/western food - including excellent burgers and smashing steaks.

Utopia Suites
Accommodation and facilities:
Very nice and clean. Nice bathroom. It is located at the port where you dock from Koh Phan Ngan. 10minute walk from Sairee beach. If your interested in diving best to stay on Sairee beach.

Utopia Suites
Accommodation and facilities:
Good value for money if you are not looking a pool and fancy stuff. The receiption and everything is very helpful. Close to the pier, food, nightlife. Walking distance to Sairee beach. The beach is not nice as close to the pier, but ok if you only want to get some sun tan. Worth trying.

Utopia Suites
Accommodation and facilities:
Myself and my Italian girlfriend stayed at Utopia Suites over the Christmas period 2006/7. Fantastic place to stay!! The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms cleaned every day and most with air conditioning, TV and minibar. Comfortably close to the centre, a short walk from the boat pier but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. Next door there is an extremely honest, helpful taxi driver who helped us out heaps, try him out, he wont rip you off. If you ve yet to book in Koh Tao try the Utopia Suites you wont be dissapointed!!

It's Very comfortable location of Utopia Suites near central streets. Amazing sea-view from rooms and louisiana or balcony with everyday cleaned piece of the beach at your disposal. Staff made everything on their best and helped us in some questions very much. We liked everything.
