Location very nice, as far as for how much we paid everything was about as you would expect. However the lack of safety was confunding, the deck around the pool had collapsed, and there were exposed nails and holes everywhere, however it was only flimsily taped off, it was an accident waiting to happen, we had to keep a really close eye on our kids around the pool. Also had to ask twice just for a bar of soap, and also for enough bedding and towels for the 4 of us, even after we outlined exactly how many guests, and their ages, would be staying in the room when we booked. Check in and out was unecesarily slow. Pretty ordinary stuff really.

Hi, we stayed at Railey for almost 12 nights in total. Some of them here are Princess resort. Here is a review of Sand Sea followed by a general description of Railey/Ao Nang. Princess resort We booked sand sea resort since our other accommodation was full. The bungalows are quiet and clean. The services personal swift and professional. The pool was nice and deep. The worse thing with Princess is the restaurant. It is a general problem on many of the resorts at Railay. Don't be fooled to think this is the Thai way of service. It is not. Believe me. It is just a bad habit that the Railay resort restaurants have. So if you want service and food within the hour of your arrival take a walk to a restaurant instead of staying in your resort. There are some that are ok but I would recommend the restaurant that lies in the same building as the Last Bar(It is named the Last Bar) at Railey East. Very good Indian food, but don't worry they have great Thai and fresh seafood as well. Railey now and before: I have been to the Ao Nang area three times. Now, 2003 and 2004. And for those of you that have been here before I just want to tell you.... It is way, way, way more exploited(and expensive) now. Mainly resorts and the backpackers have almost(only almost) left. There are also much more people here and the beaches crowded in high season. If I come back it would be for the wonderful climbing. Even though Phra Nang beach (Hope I got the spelling right) is beautiful there are other beaches in the archipelago that are less crowded and almost as nice. Beaches Other than Phra Nang the beaches are pretty dull. They are full with loud longtail boats and the water is “dirty”. Better at the islands. Don't stay at Railay and Ao Nang believing that those beaches are nice. There are way better ones. Prices Ao Nang and Railay is very expensive for being Thailand.... If you can do your shopping anyplace else , do it. That includes everything from suits to T-shirts.

Very beatiful place around mountains. Rooms are clean and with good aquipment. Pool very relaxing. You can meet here monkeys trying getting to your room (very funny but you must remember to close a door of balcony)

Really lovely hotel with great service and friendly staff. Swimming pool was great and good restaurant. Would definitely recommend. Railay is a lovely and small place with good amenities although as a warning we got a boat from Ao Nang and was not expecting to get off on the beach and walk to other side with cases. It would be worth calling ahead and getting hotel to meet you.

The first room we stayed (3010) was in a bad shape. The carpet has not seen a vacuum cleaner in the last decade. In fact who decided to place a carpet in the hotel rooms? We didn't allow our 4-year old child to play on the room's floor because the carpet was disgusting. The bathroom was far more a construction site than it was a functional room at all. The shower was either boiling or freezing but definetly not just warm / tepid which made by the way our child cry. The ceiling had water damage spots and there was mould everywhere. The TV table edge (upper area) was ripped out and you could see the nails which where reachable by our child. The used ash-tray has never been emptied. But the worst was that in the swimming-pool all underwater power cables from the missing underwater lights hang down with the open cable heads. This is not only grossly negligent but also the most untrustworthy thing I saw in my whole life. Image some stuff member switch on the power for the swimming pool lights by accident and there are children playing / swimming. I also advised the two cannabis smoking pool guys to remove a rusty nail(!) in the swimming pool. The good thing was that the lovely ladies from the Front Office made us an upgrade to a two bed (family) room (2006) without any difficulties. This hotel has surely seen better days in the past and it needs a rebrush very soon.

wow - Fantastic hotel, in a great location...only bad thing is the floor of the pool area is rotten and a big hazard...however with the choice of 3 other pools including the west beqach side.. who cares..mini bar items same price as minimart.. room service good.. room made up every day, great shower hot and powerful...TV HBO ESPN MOVIES, BBC, CNN, Free DVD rental from railay Bay resort (sister hotel) ps. go to the Last Bar on the East Beach, tastiest and best value food and drink on the island, great singer and free fireshow...and make sure you walk round to Phrang Na beach...its worth the five minute walk.. heaven on earth..

Rummet var något slitet inte superfräscht med heltäckningsmatta och en liten blodfläck på ett påslakan. Poolområdet var inte heller i toppskick, lösa kablar i poolen, ganska få solstolar. Fick även tillgång till poolområdet på Bay View, stort plus i kanten för det! Hotellet funkade dock bra för oss men kanske inte för den som söker lyx.

This hotel has potential - location is good for Phranang Beach and bars on Railay. The hotel itself is run down - room was old and needed renovated. Resort was not taken care of at all. Pool was dirty and grounds of hotel were not as tidy as should have been. Looked like other rooms were being decorated/updated during low session. This could be a great hotel is they took care of it. Reception staff - Easy was unfriendly at first and was not very welcoming. Other staff were ok. Better places to stay like Tropical Resort near by or Garden View.

Wir hatten 6 Tage gebucht und nachdem wir aus dem Phuttawan Resort ausziehen konnten, waren wir angenehm überrascht. Der Zimmerservice funktionierte gut, das Frühstücksbuffet wäre auf die Dauer eintönig geworden, aber man gab sich sehr viel Mühe, die Gäste freundlich zu versorgen. Railay insgesamt kann man nicht empfehlen und baden ist bei Ebbe einfach nicht möglich. Wer dann im Hotel bleibt und nichts gegen heraushängende Kabel im Swimmingpool hat, kann einen sauberen Pool mit Handtuchservice erleben. Da wir bei 6 Tagen Buchung einen Durchschnittspreis von 1170 THB hatten, stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis; wir würden den Hochsaisonpreis nicht bezahlen wollen.

A cozy hotel located almost midway between the eastern and western beaches of the Railay Beach. Nice rooms and a nice pool right outside. The best part of Railay is that it is close to everything, and no traffic. What we could possibly complain about is the breakfast buffet would be, but was not there when there were few guests. Otherwise we are very pleased and will definitely return.

It's a very good clean and friendly hotel and nearly worth the money, best breakfast buffet I ve evrr had in Thailand, but absolutely ridiculous and ashaming for the hotel that a pricelist of EVERYTHING is posted in the in-room-booklet,like the soap holder, towels, hangers in the ward robe and so on really not to imagine everything, I ve never had in the whole world. People, who can afford that hotel, can afford everything in the room in their own country and don't have to steel in Thailand, so the pricelist for every item in the room is the most ridiculous thing I ve ever seen posted in a in-room-booklet. It seems they don't trust anybody, that's not a good feeling for a hotel guest.

First of all, there is no such thing as railay east or west. Its a 2 minute walk from one side to the other. The Princess is in a great location right in the middle which offers the proximity to the beach in the west and the restaurants and bars in the east. The room was great and so was the pool. A good quality resort and good value for money. Staff helpful and friendly, but overall effect slightly spoiled by poor management. Lack of information in room (how to work TV, aircon etc). Lack of information about facilities; no one told us that Raily Beach is a sister hotel, where we could use pool, wifi etc free of charge. At our end of the hotel there had been some building work months ago; although the gardener swept up the leaves etc, no one seemed to think to include in his job description tidying up the building rubble. Nevertheless, we would consider going there again, if we come back to Raily.

Hotel is good. The deal for the low season is pretty fair. However it is important to note, that currently constructions are going on, of which nothing is mentioned in the hotel information until you get your booking confirmation. The construction on the hotel next to RP lasts till Feb 09. The construction is busy all day, but was not that disturbing, as you might imagine. But still, if you want to sleep at a dead quiet spot, you might not want to stay at this resort.

We booked this hotel because it was one of the last ones on Railay Beach that was available. We were disappointed with the hotel. The rooms were clean but there is construction going on right beside the hotel from 8:00 in the morning until around 5 or 6 at night. It is very loud and disruptive. This wasn't our biggest complaint though. Princess Railay Resort had some of the worst staff that we have encountered in Thailand or in South East Asia for that matter. There were piles of dirty sheets and towels lying around everywhere. The maid hadn't cleaned our room by 4:00 in the afternoon and there always seemed to be plenty of staff hanging around talking to one another but very little work being done. We went to get pool towels at 10:00 in the morning and they were already out because they hadn't washed the dirty ones from the night before. Someone brought us some room towels but I suspect they were dirty ones because they were covered in disgusting stains. I know this is being kind of nit-picky but the trash cans around the hotel grounds were rarely emptied and were often overflowing with garbage.The garbage can by the pool wasn't emptied for 3 days even though the pool attendent spent 99% of his day just sitting behind the counter doing nothing at all. Again this shows little attention to detail and laziness on behalf of the staff just sitting around. I feel I am being overly negative so I will say some positives too. Railay Beach is BY FAR the nicest beach in Krabi (especially compared to Ao Nang). So if you are looking for relatively cheap accomodation near the beach then Railay Princess isn't a bad option. The pool is nice and most rooms have a big balcony that overlooks the pool and the gorgeous jungle scenery. Just don't expect the usual friendly and efficient type of service that Thailand is so famous for.

Hotel rooms are very good, overlooking large pond - very nice bathrooms. Location is very average - not a pleasant walk from both beaches past generators and sewrage areas! Pool is also pretty average - hard stones around most of pool which hurt your feet to walk on! Nice restuarant view and bar. Next time stay in Railey would stay at a hotel on the beach or off the main walkway.

My husband, daughter and I stayed in a triple room. Room was well maintained and very comfortable. The pool was very nice. Able to order food and beverages from the pool area. Very convenient. Reception and dining room staff were pleasant. Breakfast buffet was one of the best that we had in Thailand. There was a quite a good selection. We ate several meals at the hotel and overall the food was okay. Not great, but good. Recommend staying away from the barbeque as we found it over priced. All in all, we felt this hotel was the best value on Railay Beach and would definately stay there again. The hotel is situated between beaches. However, it is an easy walk to any of the beaches.

Nice Hotel. A generator is located near the hotel but you will get used to it. It's one of several generators on Railay. Some earlier comment says This means that a walk to any beach is through a construction site and the noise can be imposing during the day. There is an altenative walkway to Railey West located North of the Hotel. Railey East is a close walk through the Maya Hotel area. Spend some 20min exploring the nearby area and you will see that everything is close and easy to access. What is really missing is a detailed map of the place. When going to Phra Nang Beach. Dont forget to bring a torch when exploring the cave. The part with all the bats is impossible to reach otherwise.

We had a brief medical emergency during our stay and the staff arranged instant transfer, tickets and hotel to Bangkok, with an eye towards keeping it all economical. We were grateful for their help. They also arranged a private long boat with lunch and equipment for a day out to Koh Tup and such, again at a reasonable rate. However, regarding the hotel itself, some of the comments read earlier are still true. There are generators and a fair amount of construction and piles of junk nearPrincess Resort [but not on the resort property itself]. This property is best reached by long boat directly to Railay East if you have a family or any big suitcases. Otherwise, you'll be on your own hauling them across beach and paths to the hotel. We learned this when we took a boat from Ao Nang to Railay West and were left on our own. The hotel will pick you up at the airport or Ao Nang by van to the pier and then by boat to a mobile platform, delivering you one minute from your room for 1,200 B, worth it for a family of 5 with small kids and all sorts of luggage etc. and no wet suitcases or hauling overland. If you are on your own, no kids or hauling only a backpack, would be needlessly expensive. The lagoon on the property seems like a waste of space since the dining area seems very tight. We were bumping into people the whole time at breakfast. Still the situation here was far better than other Railay East properties, one of which had a cement mixer 1 meter from a guest room and a nearby generator which seemed more like a powerplant belching out diesel fumes. Overall we were very satisfied and felt like the construction site comments mentioned by others was now further away at other properties, though you still had to look at it when walking to Cave Beach.

Nice hotel, had a rather comfortable stay. Room was clean and spacious. However, there were times where the housekeeping staff had to be reminded to wash the used glasses from the room and replace the towels. Bathroom amenities were also never replaced during our stay. The buffet breakfast wasn't that great either. The hotel seemed popular with families with young children. Pool was well used by them.
