Railay Village Resort
Accommodation and facilities:
We stayed in this beautiful resort for 5 days. And it was one of the best holidays we ever had. After reading millions of comments about other resorts in Krabi, we decided to stick with Railay Village. As soon as we arrived to Railay beach, we we greeted by this amazing view. It's like a piece of paradise! Check in was quick and lady was very polite. Bell boy helped with our suitcases and than explained everything about our room. We stayed at the rooms situated next to second pool and we stayed on first floor. And I think it's better than ground floor, because otherwise everyone can see your room. We even had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. We spent there almost every evening, having a drink before we went for dinner. The only minus was next door neighbours! I understood, that all rooms have connected doors. And it's just a one tinny door separates you from your neighbours. So you can hear every single conversation they are having and I assumed they experienced the same. We didn't complain, since we didn't spend much time in our room. Don't expect a lot from breakfast. I ve red the comment, that you have to go for breakfast early, because the good stuff finishes quick and they don't replenishe that option anymore. Se first morning we went very early and all they had was steamed rice, soup, steamed vegetables, hot dogs an French toast. You can request and omlet, but I wasn't happy with it either. Juices are all synthetic, it felt like its a fruity powder mixed with water. The only thing I liked was fresh fruits and coffee. So after this experience we decided not to bother to wake up early and went there just before they closed and they had exactly the same. We ha food ones in restaurant and it was ok. Most of the time we went to East side of island (only 10 min walk) and they have plenty of restaurants. Our favourite was Last Bar restaurant! They have amazing fish choice and plenty of delitous cocktails! We used spa ones and that was on our last night. And I wish we could come there from the first day! Massage was sensational! Lady was very good and it's wasn't expensive either. It was sad to leave this beautiful resort with amazing tropical garden! We definitely coming back! P.s. one day we took a trip to James Bond island and monkey temple and cayaking. Don't bother. You will see the same views as you have on Railay beach and all day it's tiring and plus they are laying about 40 min transfer. It's actually 2 h in uncomfortable bus. Seriously, don't bother. Maybe Hong Islands, but I m sure it will look the same.
Reservation service:
Booking of this trip was nothing, but pleasure! They always were very quick with responding to us. We booked a transfer from airport to resort and the same on the way back. It was very quick and efficient! A bit overpriced, but definitely worth it! They great us at the airport with an envelope with some info about Krabi and phone numbers to contact agency. They were great!

We had a room on the 2nd floor. Huge room, lots of space and calm environment. Pool area and garden are neat and well taken care of. Phranang Beach is 10 minutes away by foot. Hotel Restaurant on Railay Beach West serves delicious meals. Breakfast (choice and food itself) is average. Other than that we'll always come back.

This was basically a 3 star hotel, with the potential of being a good 4 star hotel. The rooms were big and nice, but run-down and general maintenance was lacking. The breakfast buffet was slightly below average and with a restaurant staff that was lacking propper trainig, however, sweet and smiling. The decor of the breakfast buffest was lacking and table cloths were dirty. The hotel personelle were in general okay, but only if the hotel was a 3 star one. The reception was lacking english skills and were generally not very helpful. On the upside, the one pool was surrounded by beautiful flowers and had a great atmosphere and the hotel is located on the beach.
Reservation service:
The service with SiameServices was pleasant. The only concern could be that it was not possible to change the reservation within 7 days of arrival without a substantial cost.

Great location (right off the beach) but far enough back that the sound of the boats is not heard. Cute rooms, nice balconies, amazing pools (although the bigger one was often cloudy - perhaps too many chemicals?) and good food. Be prepared for no alcohol served as it's a Muslim establishment - but you can buy it just next door and bring it in to the restaurant.

Excellent stay. Very nice, clean and spacious room in the 2-storey buildings around the pool. Friendly and helpfull staff (changed the ground floor room initially given to us to a 2nd floor room upon our request with no hassle). Good beachfront restaurant. Great location right on the beach of Railey West. Disagree with the numerous negative comments about Railey Beach and this resort that are on various travel sites. We were perfectly happy with everything.

Nice location on the beach of West Railay. The restaurant, where you also take the breakfast, is close to the beach. The rooms with balcony on the swimming pool are very nice. The swimming pool is very nice with lots of flowers around. The spa provides very good quality massages. The restaurant is not expensive and very good (the best of West Railay accoring to us). The hotel does not have extra bed for third person. It only provides mattress on the floor.

Railay Village Resort on the west side is beautifully located close to the beach and the garden is marvellous. We had a spa villa with yacuzzi and a nice small, private garden. It is good value for money and the staff is also the best, at least compared to nearby resorts. There are no alcohol served within the facility but restaurants close by serve beer and spirits. We would not recommend Railay East, the beach is poor and it is more of a back-packer location.

Hi We enjoyed the place very much, however on our first day we wanted to use the Jacuzzi, there was a problem with the Jacuzzi and we called the housekeeping to fix it. Since then we did not use or try to use the Jacuzzi. When we checked out we were asked to pay 3000 bath for fixing the Jacuzzi which we never used. (they claimed that the Jacuzzi handle was broken....we did not touch it as I SAID WE NEVER USED THE Jacuzzi) The manager was not in place and did not answer the phone. The lady that charged us was very unpleasant , she did not release us unless we pay the 3000 bath, we had no choice (we had a flight to catch) so I paid it (I felt like an hostage) I still plan to contact the manager and to get my money back, but this ruin our memory of the great time we had in this place. Thanks Rivka

Railay Village for us certainly looked like the best hotel on East Railay if you want to stay at a quality hotel with good rates. Location is great. We stayed in a Pool Villa and was very happy with that choice. The pool outside was big and beautiful and never crowded. Breakfast was very good - they make pancakes and omelettes on your order and there is plenty of fresh fruit, sandwiches, hot food, cereals etc. All hotel staff was very friendly. Only minus was that there were never any hot water at all in the room -but it was so hot during our stay that we didnt mind a cooling shower in the evening. Room was spacious, bathroom as well with both shower and a bathtub. Cleaning very good. East Railay is a very nice beach - west is cheaper in terms of food and drinks but it stinks quite a lot from the swamp - we named it stinky beach instead ;-) I would definitely stay at Railay Village next time.

Railay beach was not what we expected to be. Also Railay village we thought was so so. Room was okay, but the resort lies right across the boat taxis, so beach so so, and cannot go in the sea there. Go to Phangang beach, that was great, if you are there early. Later lots of tourists. Railay west is much better than east, which is mangrove, and mud. No alcohol served in the hotel..food also so so. Much better other places on Railay We recommend go to Ao Nang and book a tour to Railay if you like it.

Stayed in a pool Villa for 4 nights, it is beautiful and offers loads of space; unfortunately there is too little attention on detail that could be expected for this price (you will get far better value-for-money in the rest of Thailand): lightbulbs that did not work, faucets that were broken and not fixed properly, marks on mirror - just a little careless. Rooms in the pool villa have incredibly thin walls (also due to the connecting door to the next apartment) so unless you constantly want to participate in your neighbours life I can only recommend staying in a spa villa that is not shared. Asked for a change of romms but staff was not really helpful.

We arrived later than expected and the room was not ready. We were asked to wait to allow the cleaners to finish with it. The room (Spa villa) is spacious, but there is not a single place to put away the clothes (apart from where the safe is, which does not accomodate more than a few pairs of pants) therefore the suitcases ended up occupying most of the space available on the floor. Also unless one plans to have a jacuzzi bath every day, I don't think it is worth the extra money. Days were perfect given the location and the facilities, but nights were a total nightmere. Hoards of voracious mosquitoes in the room, no mosquito net on the bed, an AC system that could have frozen us to death for 5 minutes, while the next 5 would have left us sweltering (not too good for one's sinuses), not to speak of the noise, more suited to a jet engine. The bed only had a thick duvet on it (which seems rather inappropriate when the temperature outside is 30+...I can only guess that the AC, if kept on all night at 21 degrees (or below) would have taken care of the mosquitoes by making them unable to move; of the duvet by making it an essential item for not dying of pneumonia; and of the lack of storage space by the sheer necessity of wearing everything at night. We didn't sleep a wink each and every night! An experience not to be repeated. Pity for the swimming pool, great for children to chill out after a day by the sea, but next time it will have to be another resort.

Railay Village is a really nice place! Simple! If you worried about the resort and pool not looking like it does in the pictures, don’t because everything is as nice as it looks on the website. We stayed in the pool access room and it was really nice, modern, clean and quite large. The pool really is amazing as we were there in early June, it was extremely quiet and very relaxing. Food in the restaurant is not great, but plenty of other places to eat. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend paying the extra and staying here!

Overall we loved the Resort! The pool villa was clean and comfortable...we enjoyed being just next to the pool -- a nice break from the beach heat! I had read several comments/reviews that mentioned the staff being unhelpful and even rude. I find this a bit shocking, as the staff were very nice and helpful and even very friendly---but we were friendly to the staff. I think it is a matter of being nice and people are nice back (hmmm simple really)! As foreigners we need to remember that english is NOT their first language and have respect for the fact that they are speaking engligh to support us!! I did overhear a few conversations where the foreign guest did not treat the staff so nicely (rude actually) and of course the staff memeber was not friendly and definitely less helpful! people you are on vacation...take it easy and smile a little --that smile can go a long way!!

Pleasantly surprised by the pool villas. So good I am not sure it's really worth it paying extra for a spa villa. Very baby friendly with a nice, big pool literally outside the door. The rooms were quite large and beautiful. Railay in general is quite expensive - I have been here many times and Railay Village definately count as the best value option. Railay Bay is more expensive, older, uglier and more squeezed together. Sand Sea is a lot older and only slightly cheaper. Railay Beach Club is nice too, but no pool or air-con.

Hotel is very nice on beutiful beach. We book Poolside room and we got on the first floor with in front of pool. Just open the door , my kid can swim all day. The pool is so nice and not too deep , that safe for children. The room is good and comfortable. Brakefast is good and lot of choice but too much of fly insect in that area. We also had dinner at here (no fly insect in evening) , the food was good and not too high price. Overall, this hotel is very nice , we plan to back again in low season time with lower price so that we can do longer stay.

Accommodation and facilities:
Railay Village Hotel is a beautiful and charming resort nestled on one of the most picturesque beaches in Krabi. We stayed in a SPA VILLA for our 5 day 4 night trip. The Villa was spacious and gorgeous. Amenities include a jacuzzi tub set in a separate area, a huge walk in shower with rainfall head, mini-fridge, kettle, robe, daybed, house slippers, umbrellas, flip-flops and safe. The villa/house is set in a tropical landscape with a small veranda (with deck loungers) and small pound complete with tadpoles, frogs and lilies. There are two pools; one nearest the beach is small, and a larger one is located farthest from the beach near the Pool Villas. The grounds are pristine and serene. Great for honeymooners and families. NEGATIVES: No shampoo in bathroom on check-in which was minor but noticed. The coffee and tea service was not refilled everyday nor were the cups cleaned. General service at the restaurant and hotel was very poor. Not sure if it was a Southern Thai thing but I didn't get the sense that the staff cared or were ever in a particular hurry. The men's toilets near the restaurant were disgusting a clogged with feces. Railay Village is also a Muslim run and owned resort so there is NO ALCOHOL sold on the premises. Not a big deal, since you can go next door to the bar, restaurant of mini-mart to order alcoholic beverages. It would have been nice to have know that from the site but I don't think it would have affected our decision to stay. If you are planning on visiting Krabi, I would definitely recommend staying on Railay West since the beaches are so much nicer and cleaner than those on Railay East. Railay East has mangrove trees and the beaches and rocky and muddy, thereby making accommodations cheaper. I thought long and hard whether I would stay at the Railay Village again if I went back to Krabi and I probably would but would want to check out a few other properties in the area first.
Reservation service:
Good service and very easy as always. I would say I get the best deal from www.siameservices.com about 95% of the time.

When arriving, the front desk could be a bit more organized and the tour guides could be a bit more friendly. We arrived at noon and they told us we would have to wait until 3:00. The rooms we stayed in were great and very clean. However one of the highlights was supposed to be a juzzici tub off the bedroom. The water only trickled out the first day and after the staff tried to fix it, the second day was only cold water (the shower did work well with both hot and cold). The restaurant was great for breakfast every day and we found the most gorgeous beach on the east side along with watching rock climbing. A very unfortunate circumstance happened to my brother and sister in law who were staying in the bungalow next to us - their money (about equalivalent to $250 in Canadian money) was stolen from their safe (a little was taken from the different currencies they had). When my brother went to the manager, the manager apologized and mentioned this had happened to 4 other units. He asked if he could come back the next day which he did. The manager then asked if he would confront the staff. He didn't take him up on this offer! It did make the rest of our stay uncomfortable. Otherwise the location is great and a great point to venture forth to other islands.

Fantastic, beautiful Hotel renewed two years ago. My husband and I had a POOL VILLA and we spent there one week.Great room with elegant furniture and huge modern toilette. Situated in front of the GORGEOUS swimming poolth( one of the two!!) and surrounded by a beautiful garden . Perfect room service fresh fruit available every day very good cleaning. The best restaurant in both RELAY EAST AND WEST, even if they do not serve alchoolics, you may buy some drinks outside, close to the hotel and have them while eating your dinner.Internet available close to the hotel.Very very kind and helpful staff.Very intense nightlife, live music and parties (especially on the east-side but you can easily reach in few minutes walk from west-side where the hotel is situated).Very good kayak and snorkeling service. You can rent a long tail boat or a speed boat to have a day trip around the near Isands of the NATIONAL PARK. Thank you to all the guys especially to SANG we still remember your smile your kindness and your warm THAI welcome. THE BEST HOTEL IN RELAY BEACH!! We surely come back again and again.

This was our second stay at Railay Village over two years´time. The place is still as charming, hotel still as comfortable and garden still as beautiful. If it were not for the tourist boom around. Railay beach is getting crowded!! Railay Village is probably the best hotel you can find on Railay. Breakfast is good and food in general much improved since Jan 2008! Room was comfortable, only A/C was too cold. Pool area is nice, but it was hard to find free sunbeds at times - quite normal as the hotel was fully booked. A great hotel on a nice location!

A very good hotel! Best hotel in Railey, I think. Good location, very nice rooms (we stayed in a pool villa), big swimmingpool and very good food. I would absolutely stay there again. We stayed 1 week at Sunrise Tropical and 1 week at Village. They were both great, but Village was the best :)

Very disappointing! We had a high season spa villa (overpriced) which, although it was a pleasant space, it was a bit rough round the edges . Finishes were poor and the jacuzzi and shower didn't work. It took 4 requests to put them right. In-room coffee supplies were just downright mean - one cup each day - and toiletries nothing special. Sewerage smell in the bathroom. Service is hit and miss. Breakfast is basic, with poor quality juices and the coffee/tea was undrinkable. Avoid their restaurant. Pool area nice as were the attractive gardens - much more preferable to the crowded beach. This is far from a 5* establishment - more like 3*. Railay Beach itself is much overhyped - far too busy, dirty, squalid and spoiled by the longtail boats - they re noisy, polluting and they occupy far too much space of the beach. The coral and water quality has suffered consequently. Food and service throughout Railay was the worst we ve had, and overpriced too. We tried to escape to other islands and beaches but they all suffer from the same problems. Go elsewhere if it's peace and sophistication you re after! You'll get much better value too.

Hotel was gorgeous! The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was huge! Cleaning services were impeccable. Pool was always clean. The included breakfast buffet was excellent. The service was excellent and the staff always smiling and welcoming. Only downfall to the hotel was they charged very expensive to launder clothes. Better to take your clothes to get done very cheaply at the Sand Sea Resort next door. Other than that, was the best place we stayed in Thailand. Perfect!

Accommodation and facilities:
Really disappointed! Accommodation claimed to be 5* resort but is barely 4* (we stayed in a spa villa which was a nice design and was a reasonable space but was poorly finished with sloppy, rough detailing - sewerage smells in bathroom and things not working). Sadly, it was only 3* service from staff, who also had limited English e.g. we had to ask 4 times to get the jacuzzi working and then it wasn't working properly - we gave up! Breakfast (based on a voucher system - hardly 5*!) is very poor: tea/coffee undrinkable, nasty reconstituted juices, limited, unappetising food selection, unopenable packs of low quality butter & preserves, flies and ants, etc. Very pleasant, well-planted gardens, nice villa settings (not with sea views though, so don't be fooled) and two good pools. Railay itself as a place is over-rated and considerably hyped - the beaches are just far too busy (like a Spanish Costa), and off the beaches it's just plain dirty, unmaintained and malodorous. There's a lot of building on the (muddy) east beach so things will only get worse and no doubt they'll strip out the few remaining, struggling Mangroves. All the Railay beaches are dominated and spoiled by the loud (they sound like unsilenced farm tractors), polluting, long-tail boats which mean that the beach waters are cloudy and simple pleasures like snorkeling are compromised - not that there's any coral left to speak of anyway. Services to tourists are relatively expensive and of a generally poor take-it-or-leave-it standard. We had the worst Thai food of our considerable travels in Railay - it was consistently bad. Tip: Diamond Cave Rest t, east Railay, was about the best of a bad lot and the staff were more responsive and generally on the ball than elsewhere. Day trips to other locations are a relief from Railay but don't expect quiet, unspoilt beaches since everyone else and the dreaded long-tails will be there too! Perhaps Railay was idyllic and paradisical 10 years ago. It isn't now. We will definitely not be returning. The Railay Village Resort was very poor value and certainly not 5* as claimed. Spend your time and money elsewhere!
Reservation service:
Excellent as usual - easy, faultless and most reassuring. The transfers to/from Krabi we booked through them went like clockwork. We will continue to use SiameServices. Thank you.

Nice Rooms on the right side of Railay. Our room was right at the back overlooking the pool and apart from occasional bad sewage smells was very nice. I think Railay Bay in general is struggling with infrastructure for the amount of development. The restaurant was average - the bar/cafe/restaurant next door was better and cheaper, with a great ambience. For the money (we stayed in Peak Season) i may have hoped for more but we enjoyed our stay !

THE RESORT IS BEAUTIFUL. BUT I FEEL THE HOTEL IS HIGHLY MISREPRESENTED. IN THE SPA VILLAS WE WERE PROMISED A SEA VIEW, IT TURNS OUT THAT NO ROOM IN THE RESORT HAS A SEA VIEW, ONLY GARDEN.THE RESORT SUPPOSEDLY HAS A SPA WITH A GYM, WE SAW NONE.*** the private verandah or a small sala offer a spectacular view of the sea and a beautifully landscaped garden and pond.THIS IS QUOTE FROM THE INTERNET SITE OF THE RESORT.

Just spent a week at this resort for our wedding, with our family from both sides of the world. Had an amazing time. Rooms were magical, pool is amazing, and the restaurant served excellent food extremely cheaply. Staff were always friendly and charming. We had our wedding meal in the restaurant and they did us a beautifully decorated table. Very child friendly - we were there with two 18-month olds and they had the time of their life too. Railay beach itself is absolutely gorgeous and a great location for exploring surrounding islands. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Railay Village hotel for 3 nights and were so glad we chose this hotel. We had a chance to look at others when walking around and found this one to be a very good lucky pick. The rooms are extra large and spacious and coplete with all the ameneties you need. We were most impressed with the presentation of the room on arrival complete with rose petals on the bed (and water filled bath). The bathroom towels where even twisted and scrunched up to form the shape of 2 geese kissing so that in itself was worth taking a photo of. The hotel pool was very inviting and the hotels gardens where most impressive with plants that looked like that wouldnt want to be anywhere else. Hotel staff very friendly and the hotel itself is loacated on one of the better beaches in Railay so with all this in mind....its a definate thumbs up for me. IF i ever return to this part of Thialand.......I'll e staying here for sure.

Stunning and well maintained grounds + rooms are very gorgeous,we stayed in downstairs pool villa.the pool near room was clean and not chlorinated..probably a saltwater pool.railay beach was beautiful, but many long tails anchored in front of resort, just walk down beach to left or right for swimming. Friendly + quiet, great experience. Food is ok,better at railey bay resort. We hired a longtail by ourselves for 4 island tour, boatman #17,his name was now ,not sure how to spell it,but he was nice and we liked having boat to ourselves.

Fantastic hotel. My husband and I feel it was the best hotel on the island apart from the exclusive resort that we couldn't afford and the average tourist cannot look in. We stayed in a downstairs apartment and a beautiful pool was at our feet. Rooms are very classy and roomy. Even a DVD player in case of rain. You can purchase these in the shop area which is really quaint and cool. East Railay is the swamp side with low budget accomodation and west railay is the beautiful beach side. Service at the hotel was good. We ate at all the resurants to see which we liked. All were good. We were there 5 nights and didn't get bored. Nice to get away from the busy tourist areas of Thailand. Clean and pretty.

A lovely hotel that I would recommend to anybody. Very relaxing resort, close by to some bigger towns/islands if you re looking for some excitement. The hotel itself was spectacular and we were more than happy with the reservation at such a bargain price - having stayed at some other 4* and 5 * resorts there wasn't any comparison. Slight communication issues as not all staff spoke the same level of English but there was always somebody to help out and nothing was missed. We stayed in the upstairs of a bungalow, which personally for us was better than the ground floor as you also benefit from afternoon sun on the balcony and no shade! perfect. Food and beverage of a high standard and reasonable prices although more expensive than the mainland. A very clean resort where everybody went out of their way to make our stay special. we are a young couple and would recommend this for other young couples, in fact ay couples! And familys or even single people looking to relax. Would definitely go back and use again.

The Hotel was great! Our spa villa was the one next to the 1st swimming pool (and the closest to the beach also), the room was beautiful, the bed covered with flowers to welcome us (so romantic...) The restaurant was also nice, not the best food we ate there, but still good. The only little minus was that the water of our private jacuzzi was cold (!), but since we had the swimming pool for us all alone (as most of the clients were going the the other swimming pool of the resort), it was ok! In short, I would recommend this hotel for honeymooners like us or for any one who can afford it!

Railay is a piece of paradise, and so is this hotel. A great location, yet quiet. Clean and comfortable, furnished with taste. Bed was comfortable, even if a bit too hard. Storage space in the room was a bit too small, but rooms are big and spacy. Pool is of good size and enough sunbeds available. Wonderful gardens! Staff is friendly, but doesn´t speak much engish. Two things that were not that good: breakfast was very, very basic and we even got some bread with mould in it! On departure, the hotel insisted that we pay for items from the minibar we hadn´t consumed!! Apart from that, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back here.

As we complained at the hotel, suddendly nobody spoke english, not even the manager who was called over the phone after me insisting. As we checked out and payed all cost occouring during stay and wanted to pay with VISA, an fee of 3% was added. This was not stated anywhere but just added to the payment.

Railay Bay Resort is the most awesome place to stay on West Railay. The beach is unbelievable. The resort food is tasty, great and cheap. The 2 pool areas are super. Resort massages cheap by international standards but expensive relative to other opportunities on the island - nonetheless very good experience. We stayed in a Garden Cottage, with own Jacuzzi etc. Very spacious and clean rooms. Highly recommend this resort - would definitely stay there again.

The upper room was excellent. The view from the upper room balcony was good as well. However, the safe in the room presented a little problem but was eventually sorted out. The swimming pool was good too with good length and depth. The room service can be more prompt though, especially in changing fresh bath and beach towels. For the hotel restaurant, the food has a large variety with reasonable price, it also presents a fantastic view of the beach and the setting of sun at around 6.30pm. Quality of food is alright for non-picky eaters. The complementary breakfast buffet have little to choose from and can be better provide more choices. The waitering staff are friendly but they can improve with more detailed guidance in waitering skills as well as faster food deliveries. The more popular Prahnang beach is easily accessible from the hotel with a 15mins leisurely walk to the other side of a tall hill. Booking of water activities is very prompt and the service from the activity desk is good and friendly. However, the hotel front desk staff have very basic command of English and can improve tremendously if given more English lessons to complement their warm friendly personalities and excellent hospitality. The transportation services to & fro Krabi Airport was very efficient. Overall, I give the hotel 8/10 rating.

Excellant hotel brand new. Beautiful large room and 2 pools all very clean. Good food at good prices with a huge menu and evening bbq. A busy beach but so quiet by the pools. Only down side was the smelly drains from other hotels and a mix up with our transfer at the end, they sorted it out eventually. i would stay here again.
Reservation service:
No problems, very well looked after and I will use siameservices again. All clear and concise paper work.
