Accommodation and facilities:
Wonderful holiday! We stayed for 14 nights and loved every minute of it. Somkiet Buri is a beautiful resort, rooms lovely (we had a family room which was spacious, well furnished and immaculately maintained by the army of cleaners that came through like a whirlwind each morning!) The pool is gorgeous, the guy who does the massage is a genius and Rak the general manger is an extremely helpful and attentive host. We were even there for the recent Tsunami warning and were so impressed by the way that the Ao Nang authorities (but even more so the staff at Somkiet Buri) conducted the evacuation, we had two small children with us too which could have been a nightmare but we were so well looked after throughout (thanks Mom!) and really felt safe. Songkran was also amazing (well worth visiting when this festival happens next year - especially if you re 40 going on 8), and even 90% of the guests at Somkiet were smiley and friendly too - all around a holiday not to forget!

All in all a pleasant resort to stay. Spa prices for such things as massage where far to high - reduce them close to what other massage places take and I for one would have taken a massage or two there. Pool area was nice - but put install a system where the guests can request food or drink services. Otherwise lovely and the jungle feeling of the resort sets it out from many others. We enjoyed ourselves!

Simple, easy - recommend them as agents! Suggest they make sure that their suppliers have better control of things as the booked transfer from Krabi airport to Ao Nang was not handled particularly well - even though they sorted it out in the end.

The eight last night we booked deluxe room and they were really great, even the standard tools were very good, had à great stay at Somkiet Buri.

2nd Visit to the Somkiet. Good Place to stay. Like the Pool side rooms. The Bathrooms need a little work, The Shower is over the bath but the shower curtin does not stop water from going everywhere. Need an exhaust fan in the bathrooms also. Over all I really like this place. Great Gardens & Great Pool. The staff are helpful. I wish the restaurant was non smoking though and some of the guest could be more considerate where smoking is concerned.

This was my second stay at this hotel following a previous holiday 5 years ago and as a result myself, wife and daughter have high praise as everything was faultless. Our triple room was very spacious, ultra clean and the service was second to none due to the staff's impeccable and very friendly service at all times. In addition, the quality of their restaurant meals are highly commendable. I am rather fussy eater as a rule but due to the fresh and delicious menu variety at a very reasonable price we ate there every evening so highly recommend this resort to anyone thinking of visiting Krabi. The exotic setting also enhanced our stay together with a decent swimming pool that is like a small lagoon, so peaceful and tucked away from the bustle of other hotel locations. It deserves 5 stars and we will definately stay there again.

I read the reviews and everyone gave really good ratings to this hotel. But when I arrived, I was totally disappointed. Ambience of the resort is very nice, jungle like. But the staffs there provide service with no smiles. Not friendly, and very nonchalant. Make up room service was terrible. They cleaned the cups we used in the sink of our bathroom, and was not even washed proper. The saucers were not washed and you could still see sugar and all on it. The extra cushions we used for sleeping, were thrown on the floor when they made the bed. And left ON THE FLOOR. I defintely will not return, there are tons of other hotels/ resorts in Ao Nang... I d rather try them.

The resort was great overall -we loved the lush jungle like feel to the place and the night pool jacuzzi. Friendly staff and no geckos which was a huge plus for me compared to many other resorts here which have tons of these. Very close to the main street of town and the beach however still removed enough that it is pretty peaceful inside. Only downside was actually the Spa (Lila Spa) which is below average in terms of quality and absolutely overpriced compared to the other spas/massage places in the Ao Nang town. Would not recommend the spa but would definitely recommend the resort itself to anyone.

If, like us, you are looking for an secluded escape from the crowds, while still within walking distance of everything - this is the perfect spot. Absolutely loved the natural setting & very big pool. The resort is very private as it has less rooms, but all the amenities you would expect from a bigger resort. The only downside was the lack of coffee or teamaking facilities in the rooms.

LOCK YOUR SUITCASES! What should have been an overall pleasant stay turned sour a day after we discovered that my mom's perfume & my husbands watch was stolen from their suitcases on the day of our departure. My mom had used her perfume in the morning & the porter came to take our bags to reception. As we left the room, we noticed two female members of staff standing outside our room door. They didn't have any equipment for cleaning or lists for checking the room so that was odd. Nevertheless we went to reception to settle the bill & when the suitcases got to reception my dad realised it hadn't been locked, so did that prior to our departure. Upon arriving at the next hotel in Kho Samui my mom realised that evening that the box containing her perfume was in fact empty. So, the perfume had been taken between the time that we left the room & the bags were brought to reception. At the same time, my husband realised that his watch (which he had hidden in his suitcase had also been taken. I kept my bags locked at all times so none of my things were taken. I know that safes etc are provided in rooms but really - stealing perfume between the room and the reception area is a bit much isn't it? We now know why the staff were so interested to know where we would be travelling to next & if we were coming back to Ao Nang. We called the hotel to complain & the woman on duty promised to call us back but to this date, we ve heard nothing. That aside, we stayed in a room on the top floor and we weren't very impressed by it. Firstly, the room had a really horrible musty smell and the air conditioner did not work properly. The room was a good size but the cleaning staff didn't even pick the towels up off the floor when they did housekeeping. My parents room on the bottom floor didn't have the musty odour and their air conditioning worked a lot better than the one in our room. The restuarant food was great (we at there on our first night) and I can highly recommend it. Breakfast spread not great & got a little boring after 3 days. The staff weren't overly friendly or particularly helpful. The hotel is located along the main road in Ao Nang but you don't hear any of the noise and it has a certain jungle feel to it which was nice. Overall, an ok experience brought down to a really bad one having had our valuables stolen. I would not recommend this hotel based on the fact that you have to keep your suitcase locked 24/7. You are on holiday after all. There are loads of hotels along Ao Nang road so I would check those out first before trying Somkiet Buri Resort. The Spa at the hotel is also much more expensive that what is offered in Ao Nang itself.

The resort is verry beautifull and the pool is nice. Large and clean room. The bathroom is big but dark. And the shower is made for verry short people. Breakfast ok. BUT the biggest problem in this place is the stuff. They are just terrible! The receptionist is verry unfriendly and not att all accommodating!:-( All of the stuff nead to go a lesson (or several!) to be more service minded. Its verry sad that the stuff is so bad, the resort deserve more.... We will NOT recomende this place beacuse of the bad attitude from the stuff. Warning!

Lovely site away from the noise of Ao Nang. Bliss. Very lush with nice pool and deck although no much room on the deck for all guests. We were in a superior room which was beautiful, large but not much storage space. Large bathroom but shower designed for short people who like showering in the dark. Restaurant looked nice but we ate outside. All in all enjoyed the tranquility of the site.

The trippel de luxe room was very good if it was on the second floor. The room on first floor smelld mould(mögel).The extrabed was impossible to sleep on, it was just a stonehard plastic madrass.The hotel itself was cosy but it lacked some of the extras, for example, have to ask several times for toiletpaper, when we said we where missing towels did the personel chech our rooms before we got more, it was if they did not belive us. Small thing but a little bit annoying.

Wonderful hotel,really like being in the middle of the jungle, pool area is fantastic,scenery is 2nd to none. Friendly staff, rooms cleaned everyday with fresh towels for both pool and bathroom. Rooms are huge with excellent air con facilities. TV channels limited but who needs TV. The decor of the rooms is fantastic with a beautiful bathroom lots of attention to detail. Breakfast was lovely as we were concerned when reading past peoples comments but we had no complaints. We did not eat in the restauranton an evening however other guest said it was very good, the reason for this was due to again past comments advising alcohol was not served in the resort and we enjoy a beer or wine with our meal, however on the last day we found out the you CAN actually be served an alcoholic drink with your meal!! The resort is very dark and you have to walk over wooden type bridges which was a little awkward and not recommended for people with disabilities or high heels!! You are supplied with a torch though!!! Overall wonderful resort would definatley stay again and recommed to friends

A real haven of peace - had a great upper floor room with a wonderful view on the pool. The surroundings are beautiful (no problem with creepy crawlies) The breakfasts are not at all varied - but no big deal for us. Our bed linen was never changed during the 11 nights (despite two requests) difficult to know if this was a normal problem or just a one-off, but they paid the taxi to the airport as a gesture of compensation. Freindly staff in general. Would stay there again.

Das Hotel ist genau so wie man es auf den Fotos sieht. Einfach super schön.Das Frühstück ist auch sehr gut gewesen hatten schon zweifel wegen den negativ komentaren. Aber es ist voll und ganz ausreichen es gab auch schon warme Speisen. Nur keinen speck und Wüstchen war aber klar weil das Hotel von Moslemis geführt wird.Wir fanden alles super, bis auf die Bauarbeiten, ich denke es wird das neue Spa.Kommen bestimmt mal wieder.

i have spend total of two weeks in Somkiet Buri during my travels around the Krabi area. The hotel stands of the crowd of usual concrete hi-tech resorts that consist of blocks of flats by its ambient and tropic grounds of authentic jungle equipped by hotel facilities, bridges and houses. While located still pretty much in central Ao Nang just around 50m from the main road and 3 minutes walk from the beach, Somkiet Buri offers an unique calm and isolated accomodation in a palm forest with a view of palmtrees, if you just cant stand living in 7th floor of a concrete block and watching dozens of white trash kids partying by the pool till 4AM, like at most other resorts:) The downside of my stay was: - no internet in the rooms, not even wifi network. I would expect the few PCs at the reception would in that case offer free use for the paying guests, but they are paid, so you end up going through the tropical jungle to a (literally) hot spot at the reception full of mosquitos just to check your mail. I would personally prefer a free wifi over a badly tuned TV full of thai channels. - there was constant heavy construction work in the resort which woke me up every day. I guess this cant be really considered a minus as all ao nang is in construction during the off-season period - the air conditioning didnt seem to reflect the temperature you set plus it turned off every time I went out of the room with my keys, which makes it quite unpleasant to come back to a hot and wet room after the whole day. - the hotel restaurant if a little overpriced and the food is no good. That however suits most of Ao Nang wherever you go. Professional cooks seem to be rare, everything is from the freezer. - the rooms are quite wet with a specific mould smell. The toilet seemed that nobody cares to clean it before a new tenant comes, the inner side was all dark from dirt. I saw a couple of cockroaches and a rat on the floor in my bedroom, on the other hand dont sleep in thai tropical jungle if you want to stay dry and away from animals. I would go again.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Somkiet Buri Resort. The setting is really beautiful. We stayed in an upstairs deluxe room for three people. The rooms are really large including the bathrooms. The balconies are also a really good size making the rooms a great option if there is more than two people travelling together. You are never on top of each other. They were much larger than I expected. Some of the rooms are a bit on top of each other and this could be annoying in high season being so close to your neighbours when outside especially if they smoke and you don t. The pool is really lovely. We were lucky to have the resort nearly to ourselves as it was very quiet when we were there. They were doing work on the grounds and outside of the rooms when we were there but they tried to keep noise to a minimum. It didn't really bother us. The staff were lovely and helpful also the breakfast was very good. You chose off a menu each morning and could choose as much as you liked, great if you are a big eater. The setting for breakfast was just beautiful. The resort is situated about 5-10 minutes walk from the beach depending on how fast you can walk in the heat. Loved our stay and would definately stay again if we returned to Ao Nang.

BUT, 2 out of 3 days when we wanted to take shower (all evening first night and from 4 to 7pm last night) there was NO water at all. So no shower, no shave. We could have changed rooms first night,but we had already unpacked with stuff everywhere,and the downstairs room offered smelt mouldy and didn't have the nice outlook of top floor. So top floor better, but certainly less shower pressure (whenwe HAD water!!) All boardwalks are being repaired which is well overdue as my husband went right through one of the boards which could have resulted in a badly cut or broken leg. Air con in room is a bit slow, gets really cool after a few hours, until then it's just cool enough. Pool nice, not large but shaded and not many others using it though only about 9 chaise lounges around it. Not many mossies. Breakfast was fine and so was the staff, contrary to some other reviews we had no problem with either. Bathroom light bulb blown and never replaced, though requested.Due to the no water situation, I asked for a late check out, which was a bit grudgingly agreed to(this was the least they could do,I thought... I should really have asked for a partial refund)But at the Early Bird rate of 1950 for a deluxe triple we thought it was a nice treat for us, a family of backpacker/flashpackers! This is a big room, so would suit family of 4 with extra bed.It is VERY quiet, so a good sleep in good beds with nice linen. 5 minutes to beach, 2 minute to shops, laundry for 35 baht per kilo down street, great street food opposite near McDonalds; chicken, curries, Pad Thai, juices, all from 20 to 40 baht. Don't do too much shopping in Ao Nang if going to Bangkok, cheaper for same there. Hide from tailors! The most persistant and annoying tailors in whole of Thailand and that's saying something! Can get taxi to airport for 500B or air con bus for 150B each. Ocean was surprisingly rough for April, so we used the pool more than expected. Go there, they are doing a lot of clearing up, replanting, repairing to boardwalks which will only improve things.And hopefully there will be water for you!

I could not recommend this hotel enough !! best hotel on our holiday by far ! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the hotels grounds were amazing with a awesome pool. When we 1st arrived & walked down the long driveway we could hear loud music from the Bar next door but by the time you get to reception you hear nothing and the rooms were even more quiet (did not hear another sole while we were there). The rooms & bathroom were a great size and well furnished. The only things I would say is the TV reception wasn’t great but hey you hardly want to be in doors watching TV & The spa is a little overpriced compared to what you find on the street outside so would recommend rather getting a massage on the high Street.

Friendly hotel, very nice room, average bathroom - poorly lit (and bath leaked onto floor). We had a pool view as the others were fully booked, but it was worth the extra cash - it was very nice. The pool is fantastic for young Children, lots of shade most of the day, all shopping and sea front not far away. Also has plenty of parking. Like I knew before I booked, the breakfast is fine, but really basic. Omlette, toast or ceral every day. The hotel and walkways are very attractive, obviously there are a few mosquitoes but not more than I expected. Walking back at night use a torch, one guy we met was bitten by a snake on the hotel grounds, they did however promptly tidy up and cut back all the plants and fix all the lighting.

Very nice rooms, the best rooms ever in Thailand. The waterpressur in the shower is very low, cannot even rinse out the schampoo in my hair during my stay! The hotel needs to cut open in the garden because the trees and bushes are everywhere and we saw tree snakes during our stay and thats not accepted! One of the other guests even got bitten and had to go to the hospital!!! Breakfast is not good, very little to choose from. The hotel staff is friendly and the hotel is only 10 minutes walking distance to the beach and thats really good. Will not stay here again if they not cut up the forrest and get rid of the snakes.

We got a room with mold on the wall and a very bad smell. Since our son has astma and bad air can be one of the things that provoke it we ask for a new room. It took them 3 days to get us a new room. They did not seem to take us very seriously and they were not very helpful. We felt like we were a pain to them. We have to be fair and say we met some friendly staff and the location and the garden of the hotel was very nice. Should we choose to go to Krabi again we would find a different hotel

Very nice hotel - like living in the jungle - it's a green oasis. We stayed in two of the poolside rooms. Beautifull rooms with all we needed and the quality was perfect. Nice pool - a little bit more space around it would be fine. Restaurant and food god. You can sit outside under the trees and enjoy your dinner in the evening - very romantic. Quiet place - no noice form the main street. Near beach - central location. Go uphill and you'll find cheap and execelent small restaurants. The staff delivered a god service with a smile. Fourth time in Ao Ang - this has been the best hotel we have stayed on in Thailand. We'll come back!

Very quiet and special kind of place in a jungle close to the Krabi mainstreets and 400-500m from the beach. Breakfast was ok, service quite ok, not splended. Rooms vere spacious but some small insects (smaller than moskitos) in the room. In the night you could hear many kind of animal noice from the outside, running on the roof. No alkoholic drinks in the minibar. Free fruits in the fridge every day. Sun did not shine to the pool very much, due to the lot of plants and palmtrees all over, but clean and nice pool it was. Romantic place.

this resort is beautiful...bit like being in the jungle,with wooden walkways everywhere. Nice pool but a bit shaded by trees and during our stay there were building works going on next door. The only thing that spoils this resort is the staff and the breakfast. Found the staff not very friendly. We stayed for 10 nights and not even a goodbye when we left. The breafast also needs to be vastly improved.

When we came to the hotel we did not know what to expect, it having a muslim owner) The hotel consists of cottages, a little from the busy road in a beautiful, tropic garden. Our mouths fell open at the sight of the room. Never saw a more beautiful hotel room before....( we stayed in room 2003; top floor). The size was amazing, about 7 meters long ( not countig the bathroom). Beautifully decorated, everything looked brandnew. Bathroom was huge. Perfectly clean. Big balconies with views on the pool and garden. The setting in the tropical garden is amazing, you woulden't know that you are only a few meters from the busy town life with many restaurants and shops. Wonderful pool, great restaurant. No alcohol in rooms minibar, but in restaurant is no problem and a nice welcoming fruit basket upon arrival. Highly reccomandable.

Excellent location, 5 mins walk to the beach and plenty of good restaurants nearby. Quiet and natural (jungle-like) surroundings providing plenty of cool shade. Quite a different environment and atmosphere compared to similarly-priced hotels but in a good way. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet is adequate but a bit lacking in variety. Service is generally good and fast. What more can you ask for considering the price? Go for it!

I had a wonderful stay at this complex. The hotel grounds and swimming pool are beautiful and the accommodation is first class as are the staff. Somkiet Buri is a leisurely five minute stroll to the beach with lots of shops and restaurants on the way. WARNING: Do take mosquito repellant. Rooms and swimming pool are in dense vegatation surrounded by streams and man made lakes so this can be a problem but hey this is a little bit of paradise in a busy resort. Top class and very secure.

As described by most other guests, it is like living in a small tropical resort. The setting is lovely with lots of different plants. We even have a squirrel hoping along the balcony timber railing and seen beautiful tropical birds. Aside from that, we found the room quite basic, AC extremely noisy, lighting too dim for the bathroom, toilet bowl stained, shower hand rail very low (fortunately, we are not tall), and one of the reception staff (slightly older than the other girls) very unfriendly and abrupt without any smile (which is unlike Thai custom and hospitality). Also, the restaurant staff at breakfast time have poor customer service. They stood there and don't even bother to serve coffee or tea unless you asked them. The other negative comment is the room safe. Well, you better get it right the first time or you will have to wait a long time before they send someone to your room to fix the lock. The instruction on the safe is poorly written and hard to understand. We travelled a lot and have never come across such an ancient looking safe!

Perhaps they should have give us a room on ground level since the infant was mentioned in the booking when it was made. The room was large and nice, but the view from the bungalow (stayed at cheapest room..) was a joke....there was none, but leafs. Hotel area very calm. The prices a bit high for what you get. Only one little problem, the resort is in the forest, so, in the evening there are mosquitos in open areas (reception and restaurant) Il resort è molto carino, immerso nel verde ma vicino alla strada principale e a 200 mt circa dalla spiaggia. Ask for poolside rooms or first floor rooms (some ground floor rooms have v limited visibilty because of the vegetation). The triple rooms (even if you are just two) are well worth the little extra

Room was very nice and spacious, lovely view over the pool. Good central location to bars and restaurants. Staff weren't as friendly as other hotels. The sun loungers around the pool were in the shade. The hotel setting was nice, very jungly...but this also meant that there were a lot of creepy crawlies in the room (including cockroaches! we found 4 of them). No alcohol in the minibar. Breakfast wasn't great.

perfect place to stay in a phantastic tropic environ, not far from the beach, really a highlight of our stay in Krabi-Aonang. We can recommend this place 100 percent be sure. Ideal gelegenes Hotel in topischer Umgebung , unweit vom Strand, ein absolutes highlight unseres Aufenthaltes in Krabi-Aonang. 100 % empfehlenswert.

My feed back is good. Wonderful garden, beatiful and clean room (poolside), nice staff. Breakfast could improve, but ok. Negative side: lighting inadeguate after 11pm, SPA too expensive.

Very nice hotel with spacy bungalows in a jungle surrounding. 5 min. walk to Ao Nang Beach, normally very quiet. Unfortunately there are heavy construction woks next to the hotel at the moment. Before booking ask if they finished or take one the last bungalows at the far end. Would come again !

I booked the Deluxe room and I had to upgrade because all deluxe rooms are equipped with double beds and I needed two single beds. They charge about 400bath for additional bed in the deluxe room. The hotel is very nice and quiet but the room smelled a little moldy. The service (check-out, room service and any contact with the front desk) was a little slow but I believe it is just the “Thai-way”
