My partner and I stayed at Le Vimarn for four nights in May 2011 during our 3 week stay in Thailand. The accommodation was great, nice wooden floors, balcony, A/C, great views of the sea, friendly staff etc. Although there's only 3 resorts on the west side of Ko Samet, there is enough to keep you occupied and still enough peace and quiet to relax. The water was good for swimming, kayaking etc...however there was a lot of rubbish in the sea and washing up on the beach...seems that this is the case for Ko Samet and Ko Kood. Would definitley reccommend le Vimarn as a place to stay for relaxation and romance!

Le Vimarn was perfectly located with beautiful beach access and scenery. The room was great and equipped with lovely decor, a spacious bathroom and a well-stocked mini bar. The pool and beach-front lounge chairs were wonderful. However, the food and service at the O restaurant were inconsistent. The meals ranged from great to uneatable. One evening the staff was waxing the floors during dinner hours and the smell was so toxic we had to take our expensive dinner to our room. The coffee and tea at breakfast were made with tap water, not bottled, so the smell and taste of the beverages was not good. Service on the beach was hard to get as there was only one waiter and he was difficult to find. The electricity went out one evening when we were getting ready for dinner and one morning the water was off. For the money, I expected better service and consistent high-quality food.

When we arrived at Le Vimarn and were shown our room (Spa Villa), we were very disappointed because the room was old, muggy and smelly. We asked to change to another Spa Villa and then got one in - as we suppose - the new part of the resort. At the same time like our booking, I also made a booking for a Deluxe cottage for our friends: this Deluxe cottage was by far better than the first Spa Villa we were assigned to and which is not worth half of the price it does cost.

Lovely peaceful bay away from the noise and litter found on the beaches on other parts of the island. Rooms are good as is pool and dining area. Food in the main restaurants is good and lovely in Buzz restaurant. More expensive than other parts of the island but to be expected - prices are reasonable. Cocktails are very good.... Staff are poliet and friendly. Lima Coco next door hotel also do nice food at cheaper prices, good for lunch etc.

Very peaceful and comfortable hotel. The Ao Prao side (west) of Ko Samed is the place for a quiet relaxing break and is in complete contrast to the much busier, dirtier & noisier Sai Kiew side. Only go there if you are looking for a Pattaya style break! A map of how to find the right boat pier in Ban Phe would be good. We got lost and had to take a private charter boat.

I have to say that we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The location is beautiful, the room outstanding - private balcony - view on the sea. All the staff were brilliant. I cant see how they can improve on what they have done there. Only one minor thing - their restaurant only serves Italian food, not something we came to Thailand for ... but there are a couple of great restaurants that serve great Thai seafood just a lazy stroll down the beach from where we were. Getting to and from the more build up and busy part of the island is a 10 min ride on taxis that are always on standby. You could also rent a motorcycle or even better, an ATV (four wheels) which are great fun for getting around on bumpy dirt roads. Over all the island is great and well managed and has all the activities you could want. You are never harassed by people trying to sell you things you don't want. It still has a sleepy undeveloped charm to it. There is a mix of backpackers, couples, honeymooners and young families with kids. All good clean relaxing fun. We will definitely be going back!

The hotel room was very good, the beach was fine,snorkelling was poor as the water was rather dirty(in fact it stings your skin when you are snorkelling), and the service of the personnel at the pier was downright lousy. I booked a speedboat from Buddy Tours (NOTE:don't book from them, they are tourist suckers!!!), paid a premium (even though i managed to negotiate till 45% lower than their initial offered price) but was given super POOR service. The speedboat took 15mins but i had to travel by land to the main pier(was promised to embark direct from Le Vimarn)and wait for hours in the end. Normally from Koh Samed to BKK, it will probably take 3-3.5hours in total, but that day i took 8hours!!! Because of this, i will never set foot onto Koh Samed again, the worst experience i ever had from travelling! Will strongly suggest tourists not to go there unless you have some locals with you. Even places like Hua Hin(for nearby BKK locations), or in the Philippines (for better beaches and cleaner water) will be much more worth visiting.

We stayed one night in one of the spa villas. The location is unbeatable, and we love coming back to this part of Koh Samet. The beach is clean and very suitable for the children, there are even some snorkling opportunities for the children at each side of the beach. The room, however, left something to desire. As we entered the room there was a bad smell that never went away. It felt like the room was constantly damp, and maybe this is related to the smell as well. Even if the aircon was on all the time, the room always felt damp and wet. The Italian restaurant was nice, as long as one don't get too irritated by these little details they never get right in Thailand. This time, our pre-dinner drinks arrived well after the food and wine. But after living in Thailand for a while we get used to these oddities. Still the food was good and service friendly despite the things mentioned above. Anyway, we will come back, but will probably stay at the Ao Prao resort next time.

We did have great time in the resort.... However it was ruined by money stolen in the Gym indise the resort!!!! Very few people were staying(low season),there were few suspects(only certain staff can go into Gym to clean), and we strongly believe that resort staff took the money. Later on we relized when we think about what happened at that time..... It's not small amount of money, but is more the principle that matters in this situation. We incredibly DISAPOINTED that this could happen in 5-STAR resort. We just want to tell everybody who book this resort should be careful their money, and don't take it for granted as you never know what's gonna happen.....!!!!!!!!! We won't go back again, even if service is good.

Very expensive for what it is. We stayed in the Spa Villa and have been very disapointed. The terrace as well as the spa bathtub was not clean and we did not even dare to use it. The room (spa villa) is not well organized, and our shower Rain style shower was very hard to use as it was not that rainy...! We mentionned it to the reception, but nothing happened. The service is very poor, no staff around looking for your comfort, and having lunch nearby the swiming pool takes ages (one dish for one person after the other and separated by about 20 minutes...!). We ve been living in Thailand for more than 8 years already, and I can tell that for the same price (more than 8,000 THB), you can get much much better in other hotels. I would recommend to go for a cheaper room on the same beach (the beach is indeed very nice and beautiful). Furthermore, le Vimarn is not the only one to have a swiming pool, the Ao Prao Resort has also one now. One good point, the restaurant (Buzz), the thai restaurant of the resort is very good with a good atmosphere, decoration and service. Conclusion: We DO NOT recommend this hotel, and will not go there again as we ve been VERY disappointed.

We stayed in the deluxe cottage. Fabulous resort, very clean and well managed. The staff were always available and very helpful. The shuttle to Rayong is a great alternative to the local ferry and we were able to book an afternoon snorkeling trip with Jimmy's Tours through the resort - very nice service. Perfect place for a relaxing, romantic weekend. Only drawback, very pricey but worth it for a special occasion.

Good hotel, little excellent but amazing cottages, amazing rooms , good view and lovely bathrooms and amenities. Nice and friendly hotel staff. Lovely pool. We had no problem at all during our stay. The O restaurant was very expensive and suggest dining at any of the other restaurants of Le vimarn, Lima coco or Ao Prau who share the same stretch of beach. Since the beach stretch is the same the other 2 hotels could provide cheaper stay, however Le Vimarn rooms and the best and is the only hotel with a pool.

The pool itself is worth the extra money. Also, the little extras like a DVD player in the room make the price worth it. Also, the beach is much better at this end. The restaurant is quite pricey though but it is not mandatory to eat there.

Excellent resort. The location is perfect on a nice clean beach and the villas are first class. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this resort.

We had a superb holiday & would have no issue going back again. The room we had was the Deluxe cottage and was plenty big enough for the 3 of us. We found the cottage to be lovely, would even upgrade next trip. The food prices were a little overpriced would be my only critic from the resort Le Vimarn. The Thai restaraunt Buzz is a must, living in Bangkok I can say its up there with the best Thai food we ve had. The beach is there for all to use all the way down to the Ao Prao resort. Great snorkeling and fun for the kids. I didn't experience a child suffering from boredom. The Le Vimarn gets a big tick from us.

The hotel is great BUT the service is SO NOT!!! - The staff does not speak english, can't give you any proper info... - The rooms should be sprayed (against mosquitoes) BEFORE we arrive, and you should like cockroaches too... =/ - The restaurants close at 11 pm but you can't order food after 9 pm! and so on

Absolutely the best resort on all of Samed and one of the best in Thailand. Two private beaches on east and west coast, superb villas with all the top equipment and furniture. Great staff, great kitchen and a winelist top restaurants in Bangkok can only dream off

We have stayed at this hotel twice and a last time was really great.The hotel has changed a chief so food was so yammu that I have never tried before. SPA is fantastic no doubt.People at the hotel are always friendly and always takes care about the guests. But some rooms and SPA Villas need to fix them up and renovate a little bit.
