Must improve of service standard. Room rate quite high but amenity in room was below expectation. Hotel should provide more train staff. My room facing Air Con problem and informed hotel to check aftered I came back Air Con in the room was opened, I though problem was fixed until 1a.m. I felt hot again, I checked at the Air Con found Ice that mean problem was not solved but I have no choice (1a.m.) on the next day I complained to GSA staff and she checked with the answer from ENG dept that they will fix this problem after I check out which made me very upset for the stupid answer.

Hotel rooms need updating. Staff do their best but more staff needed.The double room requested was, in fact, a twin room with 2 single beds pushed together. Charges like b40 for disposable razor supplied in room and astronomical internet charges are not in keeping with a hotel of this size Fitness centre and pool are quite good as is the location.

This hotel needs major renovations. While the lobby and surrounding areas are well kept but somewhat austere, the rooms are in very poor condition. Furnishings are old, uncomfortable, and well beyond normal user-life. Very disappointed by the lack of free internet service. Considering the daily room rate one would be justified in expecting to receive free internet service, particularly if staying at the facility for business purposes.

Have stayed many times. Anybody who reads previous accounts of a noisy nightclub opposite need not worry, it's demolished. Now all the land next to the hotel and shopping complex is in the early stages of groundwork. There is to be a very large development and there was noise from the works maybe 7am. Enough to waken. This rather cuts the hotel off from the town. Location now not much better than Charoen which is much cheaper but maybe not as good. No change to hotel, room ok but not great for the 2,200 I paid at a busy time with conference in town. Maybe best hotel in Udon but rooms and bathrooms now getting tired.

I have stayed here many times but since Centara took the hotel over and put the price up I still can't see there is any change or better service/rooms. The disco across the road is now being demolished so that is a major problem removed for rooms at the front. Best placed hotel in Udon but would be nice to get something extra for the price increase.

We rented rooms with a wedding party. It would have been WONDERFUL if we could have all been put on the same floor with the bride and groom getting the suite. The hotel was far from full and we were very scattered out. We had booked our room over a month in advance and we asked for one queen bed. We were given 2 singles and one friend that had not reserved his room ended up with a queen bed!! Also, charging so much for the internet service in your lobby was ridiculous! We stayed throughout Thailand and never had to pay such inflated prices for interline services at any other hotel. It's clearly a blatent way to overcharge people.

As always great location in Udon. The room rates have now gone up since the change to Centara something like 1300 to 1800 and I have to say I can't see any difference for the price increase. I am wary about staying at the front again because of the noise from the nightclub opposite when it is open. I would suggest always request a room away from the front.

Generally the hotel was ok. However, the receptionstaff needs your creditcard and a copy pasport for everything, even when you paid for the room already. It can be dangerous if they have creditcard and copy pasport.Who will garantuee that the information stays confidential? To secure the mini, value max. 200 baht, they also need your creditcard. For internet use they charge you 350 baht for 30 minutes. Unbelievable !!! It should be for free, most hotels offer it for free.

The hotel in general is great with regard to location, helpfull and serviceminded staff, very good breakfast buffet and facilities in general. Perfect laundry service. However, the rooms desperately need renovation. They are clean and OK as a bedroom if you don't spend too much time in the hotel, and the bathroom is OK but not more than that. TV is not for people from outside Asia. Will use it again next time because I dont spend much time in the hotel, and the central location is perfect.

Overall the Hotel is excellent; this is not my first visit, I have stayed there many times before. However, it seems Management has changed (Hotel name too). I noticed an improvement in the receiption area and staff attention to gusts has improved. However, I request my favourate room which I always stay in (Room 711) but it was not allocated to me, I was put in room 1211 for the first night and move the next day to 711. I also did not like the degraded TV programmes. Very few English channels and not CNN or BBC. Only Fox news and the movies channel (one only) is not all that good.

As per other reviews the hotel is a fine hotel but a little jaded. The rooms need to be refurbished although I did see a notice that said Centara were upgrading all rooms and facilities. This is expected to be completed by end 2009 although I did not see much evidence of any refurbishment. However the hotel and rooms were clean, I had an excellent night's sleep and the staff were very courteous. The included buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of foods. The major headache for me was trying to park my car in the public car park below the hotel. It is free for guests but if arriving on a Saturday expect to have a frustrating time trying to find a space. It is located below the hotel but serves the Central Shopping Mall. It took over 25 mins of going around to find a space, it was only after complaining and obliging with a tip that I found a space. Overall a comfortable hotel; with the promised refurbishment I am sure that it would be to most peoples standard.

This is a nice hotel that needs a little bit of money spent on refurbishment. The rooms were fine, but outside the rooms some of the common areas looked a little worn. It has recently been taken over by Centara management, they will be upgrading during 2009 which will bring the hotel back to it's best. So far no signs of upgrading yet. The hotel is well located near shopping, restaurants and entertainment. Breakfast was very good and it has a nice swimming pool. It is good value for money. There is a minivan to take you to the airport for a nominal charge.

I lived there 3 days. Hotel is pretty good. Polite and well-wishing staff, clean, cozy and comfortable room (senior suite, 8th floor). Bedclothes were clean. Facilities were in good order. Enough quiet. Everything was OK. Breakfast was pretty quality and wide choice of dishes. Of course it might be little more clean tablecloths there :-) But it is not Switzerland :-) I didn’t use a swimming pool. Just don’t like any pools:-) But I have seen through window some people enjoyed there. I think that its price is quiet reasonable. Maybe it is a little expensive for Thailand but l suppose this is really worth this money! One notice: booking through siameservices.com cost for me 1100 less then to pay directly. Wireless Internet is available by TOT and other providers but prepaid access (password and login) on the reception desk costs at least 3 times more than in a bookshop near hotel :-) I have bought the prepaid card in bookshop and used Spider Hot Spot in the lobby. Speed and quality were OK. If I will come to Udonthani again and have :-) enough money then I live in this hotel.

Hello I stayed several times at this hotel. Last time with mixed feelings. Female staff was rude at fellow farangs. One english man had some complaint and female staff pretending not to speak english. Later when this man left they imitated him. Rude and no warm wellcome. Price is ok for the rooms. Location is inside city center. Breakfast is ok. Beware of restaurant at night. Awfull. Go to the irish pub nearby. Good food and fair prices. If thailand wants the tourist back they should reconsider their approach. Only male staff is helpfull. Getting a taxi to the airport was a crime because nobody in this hotel seemed to understand a simple question like that. Thanks to my gf I found one. No security at night. Anyone could enter except my gf. Hotel staff checked many times at daytime. So I shall not return in future. Udon at this moment is very farang unfriendly and this hotel sure knows how to accomplish this task.

Nice place however there are a few things to consider: Rooms at the front side are very noisy due to the disco right across the street. Bathrooms are a bit aged and water for shower is hard to adjust which means it is either too hot or cold. Breakfast could be better organized. Anyway for the rate it is still considerable place to come back.

Check-in Counter make problems several time, when I come to the hotel, could not find my reservation, even if I show the payment already. So - bad service. Also not possible, to pay cash if reserve as a comung-back -customer. Service staff friendly, but very unflexible, not looking about what customer wants. Book a king-size bed, did not get it, but also no comment on it. I think, the staff do not read the reservation clearly. Breakfast ok, but not specially good. Rooms and room staff ok.

This is my 4th stay at this hotel and each time I stay there I say NEVER AGAIN. The front desk check-in staff are ALWAYS very unfriendly and incompetent. The breakfast in the mornings is ALWAYS the SAME SAME...little food variety and personnel cooking eggs to order need a basic class on Food Sanitation as was observed each morning (4 days). One cook had a cough and was coughing on all the food that he was preparing for the guests. I asked him WHY he did not turn his head to cough and all Hotel staff thought my suggestion was funny. Very very sad and shows the general attitude of Hotel personnel and Management. Too bad the selection in Udon Thani for a satisfactory hotel is extremely limited. This is NOT a 3-4 Star Hotel....maybe a 2-star if you close your eyes! Stay with caution....

Very nice hotel, situated close to everything you need to enjoy your stay. Right next to major shopping complex with anything and everything, night market and transportation. Had a senior suite which was big, comfortable and very relaxing. Room was clean and modern, cleaned when we asked and very quiet. If we had one very minor dissapointment, it was that reception staff very rarely had a welcoming smile when contacted and perhaps the breakfast menu for foreigners could be expanded to cater for more selection. Other than that they were very helpful. The hotel had an excellent foyer which greets you with a very serene atmosphere. I will be staying there again when I return. Overall, excellent value for money.

It was a nice enough hotel, but not as nice as I expected. I checked in and there were no towels in the bathroom. I was hot from traveling and wanted a shower. It took three phone calls and over 20 minutes before towels were delivered. Other than that it was OK. Breakfast was marginal in taste. A lot of variety, but nothing that I wanted to eat. I probably would not go back to this hotel unless the other two hotels were full.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 days. It is an older type hotel, well located in Udon Thani, not expensive and very comfortable. The check in was fantastic, some hotels in Thailand make you suffer at check in, but this one facilitated the check in procedure very smoothly. I like that. I loved the foyer - Japanese Koi pond was really nice. Restaurant and breakfast satisfactory. The staff at this hotel are excellent. Very courteous, polite, happy and helpful. Would stay there again.

Ich hatte die Junior Suite. Riesig. Am Hotel ist negativ, dass von irgendwo nachts Musiklärm dringt. Gegenüber ist zwar eine Disco, ich tippe jedoch eher auf hausgemachten Lärm. Das nervt und ist vielleicht in den oberen Stockwerken nicht zu hören. Die Lage des Hotels ist ok, da nebenan ein Einkaufszentrum und Restaurants sind (sehr praktisch) und auch nur wenige Fussminuten entfernt ein Markt ist. Das Frühstück ist sehr einheimisch , aber ok. Transfer vom Flughafen zum Hotel und zurück sehr günstig und klappt sehr gut.

This is my 5th stay at The Charoensri Grand Royal hotel in 4 years. And as always, the hotel and it's staff were very good. I would recomend it to anyone traveling to northern Thailand on business or pleasure.

This was my fifth booking with sawasdee.com. I ve never had a problem in the past, so I didn't look too closely at my reservation confirmation. I always get a room with a single king size bed. But when we checked in we were given a room with twin beds in it. When I called the front desk they told me all of the king size bedrooms were full until the next day. It was then that I looked closer at my booking paper and saw that it was a deluxe twin room that was booked. So since we were only staying 2 days we stayed in the twin room. I understand sawasdee.com probably deals with thousands of customers every year. But I would think there would be a red flag when a regular customers booking is different from many previous ones. Either, was there a mistake made on your booking, or, this is all we had available for your first nights stay. I think 4 identicle bookings in 3yrs should warrant some kind of question or explaination of change in the pattern.

NIce hotel with friendly staff. The rooms looked very good considering the low price. I did miss coffee/tea making facility in the room. As mentioned before the breakfast is not that good - that is if you want continental bf - mostly cold food and not much to choose from. If you like asian bf then you are better of - my wife was happy with the food that was freshly prepared for her. I will return here in the future.

If you have to come to Udon Thani the choice of hotels is limited but the Charoensri was the only hotel I would have really considered. The large shopping complex next door has everything you could need - shops, restaurants, super market etc. There are also a few bars or coffee shops nearby with cheap of free wireless internet if you buy a drink. The room was adequate but the breakfast was quite poor as was the evening entertainment. They have a swimming pool but it was not staffed so you have to help yourself to a towel and can't get a drink. The hotel seemed popular for business conferences and with Thai tour groups, the bass from the tour busses might wake you in the morning though, get a room at the rear of the hotel if possible. We usually stay in the Sofitel in Khon Kaen which has much higher standards of food, service and facilities but we stayed in Udon because we were going North to see Nong Khai after our stay. My wife's family live half way between Udon Thani and Khon Kaen so because we have the choice we wouldn't stay here again, but when you consider that it was only 1300 Baht for a deluxe room you can't complain and it does represent value for money.

Resident 12/16/07 to 1/3/08. Stayed here many times beginning 12/03. Last year the Volvo dealership building across the street was converted into a nightclub. If you stay on the side of this three sided hotel which faces the club expect to be annoyed by the most throbbing base beat you ever heard all day and most of the night. Also avoid room meal service unless you re prepared to deal with the necessity of 4 days of electrolyte replacement. Breakfasts are ok and included in the room price. For other meals go to the restaurants which adjoin the hotel in the shopping complex which are quite acceptable although service in the Italian restaurant next door is very slow. For Internet access there are better alternatives to the hotel service but that is true of every hotel which charges 4 to 6 times more than should be charged for internet access. Laundry service is excellent and the staff is helpful. The travel service located in the lobby is excellent. I will continue to choose this hotel for my frequent trips to Udon but will specify that I do not want a room on the front side. Although there are other acceptable hotels in Udon, this one has the best location for overall convenience.

Cleaning the rooms could be much better. Rooms at the same side of the main street is not acceptable due to much noice from the music place across the street - you simply can´t sleep after 2 o´clock - Hotel changed our room on demand and that is ok. The hotel should offer fresh fruith every dag in the room - as it is a 5 star hotel. We had a booking for 17 days at a lower rate than my son and that is not acceptable as J paid his bill as well. He did not order, J did at arriwal.So actually the hotel had to room fully booked for 17 days. Cleaning of the swimming Pool did not live up to standard. The first 2-3 days it was ok but the rest of the time the pool was not clean you could simply see the dirt on the floor of the pool. 4 times during our stay we were missing towels or other things - and still it is a 5 stars hotel - this shoul be improved as well. Staff. Nice and polite no problem.

The staff was very helpful, and the hotel was very nice. I enjoyed my stay there, and will use it anytime I return to Udon. Prices of all goods and services were very reasonable! The spa is good, and the massage was very good, and at 600 baht a real bargain! Breakfast was good, if a bit cold for my taste. If you stick to coffee and omelettes or eggs, it is good. Coffee bar could make espresso, latte and cappuccino, and the staff was very tolerant of a farang practicing bad Thai!

I found the hotel ok and have no real major complaints. I will stay there again on my next visit. The location is good being next to the major shopping centre and close to the bus station and there is ample underground parking. The rooms (I had a delux room) are a little run-down but are well laid out and have plenty of chairs and a small table for dining etc. There is internet in the lobby (THB30 for an hour). I was able to pick up a TOT WIFI hotspot signal in the room but could not log on. However, I was able to pick up free WIFI from one of the bars in the area which meant that I had WIFI internet on my notebook in the room although in another room there may not have been a signal. Free WIFI in the rooms is something that I beleive the hotel should consider offering. Breakfast was included in the price and the food was reasonable except that the eggs and sausages were almost cold on most mornings. The 24 hour room service was excellent and cheap however if ordering Isaan Thai dishes be careful because they were very spicey (hot) and my Thai friend who comes from the area could not eat them because of the amount of chillie.

I had no problems with the booking service from SiameServices.com and will use them again. The only complaint is that booking involves receiving about 6 emails and it would be great if this number could be reduced.

Hotel is ok, very clean and big rooms. only you should try to avoid getting rooms to the main street on down floors. There is a discothek over the street, sometimes you hear the basses and drums if you want to sleep before 02.00pm

Accommodation and facilities:
The hotel is close to long-distance bus station, night market and a supermarket just next door. Check-in, check-out and hotel transfers went without a hitch. Rooms are big and clean, well-appointed and all fixtures work. Services up to standard and hotel meals are cheap and good. Only gripe I like to mention is the presence of mosquitoes. A hotel staff was kind to provide me with an ultra-violet insect repellent lamp when he saw me sitting at the lounge early one morning. It is highly recommended.

no doubt best hotel in udon. i have stayed here few times but i think standard is going down a bit. they use to have tea and coffee making facilty in the room but did not see this time. they charge me for accidently breaking a glass in the room . it was a bit mean of them specially when you are paying 1300 per night for a room. but i think it still is the best hotel in udon. breakfast and buffet lunch is good

Excellent value. Comfortable and well appointed rooms with an in-room safe for storing valuables. Good breakfast buffet with nice selection of European and Asian fare. Just a little slow if you want eggs to order. Staff is quite helpful and friendly. If you need Internet access, visit one of the Internet cafes just across the street, as the hotel's connection is really slow. The hotel is quite close to shopping, transportation and nightlife, with a Robinson's department store in the mall next door. Lot's of restaurants nearby. Hard to find a decent beer unless you walk a few short blocks to The Irish Clock, which features Guinness and Kilkenny and has a decent menu as well. Several other good eateries within a few blocks of the hotel. One of the best values in Thailand. My wife and I highly recommend it.
