Map of Ubon Ratchathani

Ubon Ratchathani is about 630km from Bangkok and is the most eastern province, bordering Laos and Cambodia. The area where the borders of the three countries meet is promoted as the Emerald Triangle and emerald refers to the large intact monsoon forests here. Due to the large number of fascinating temples dotting the city, Ubon is a place of pilgrimage at the beginning of Buddhist Lent when the famous candle festival will be held.

Relatively unknown to the most tourists, the province has a number of natural wonders, cultural and historical attractions, including a 4,000 years old rock formation, prehistoric rock paintings, national parks, waterfalls, and the legendary two-colored river.
